He's been fighting at 160 his whole career and has yet to move up once.
Why won't he challenge himself?
Why was he scared of SOG? :usa2:
Is he scared to move up?
He's 35 years old
If he wins a few more big fights at 160 he will have had a good career, nothing to scream about but hes definately handeled biz. I dont think at this age and how hes looked of late we will see him move up, just have to appreciate what we get as fans
tony...lets be real...now maybe it wasnt you directly....and maybe you are oblivious to it( i hope you arent)...but when golovkin fans thought canelo was, and was going to continue to, avoid golovkin....they lambasted canelo and said he lost to lara and trout...and many of them also added cotto to that list.....lets not pretend like golovkin fans didnt run around the internet hollering that stuff......dont pretend it didnt happen...i saw it....
Count me out because Canelo beat Lara with body shots. Honestly I have called Canelo a little weasel in the past. He IMO ****ed Golovkin by giving up the belt rather than fighting him. I give him credit for fighting Golovkin and if he clearly beats him I will give him credit for it. To be clear I have never liked catchweight fights when a title is on the line. In this case Canelo Golovkin and Cotto it created a mess. Cotto and Canelo could have fought at a catchweight non title and still made money. I have a feeling if G wasn't the mandatory for Canelo, Canelo would have defended his title at a catchweight against someone else using his money making potential as leverage. This guy leap frogged over established Middleweights to fight for a title at a catchweight against a guy Cotto who won it at a catchweight. It's absolutely crazy. Admittedly the Cotto Martinez fight was at 159 but still it's nuts. Look at it this way. Say Spence moved up to middleweight and won a couple of fights. Now Thurman arranges a fight for the Middleweight title at a catchweight of 155 bypassing Spence. How the hell is that fair to Spence. Title fights at catchweights are screwing up the divisions.
He is a 'great' 160 pound middleweight boxer by virtue of being the best middleweight of the last decade by virtue of having the best middleweight record. So what's your point?
Which wasn't what was being discussed.
Winning the three most important titles separately is much more difficult than winning all four titles in one fight.
In our opinion, no. His reign was brief and full of disputed wins, draws and clear losses.
Only because GGG was screwed out of his win over Canelo.
i agree he edged canelo
because one of the biggest fights in boxing went/goes out the window.
surely you get that, right? that they box for money?
yeah, it would be great for him to move up and fight ward at some kind of agreed ewight, or even 175, but ward retired and wasn't anywhere near the draw that canelo is at any point in his career.
Canelo beat Lara and Cotto. They put up a fight but they lost. I didn't watch the Trout fight so no comment.

i didnt say he unified i said he was undisputed

something that golovkin isnt.

answer my question. is taylor an all time great at 160?
In our opinion, no. His reign was brief and full of disputed wins, draws and clear losses.
taylor's victory over hopkins is bigger than any golovkin win so.......
Only because GGG was screwed out of his win over Canelo.

If he moves up now, people will just say he's doing it to avoid Charlo, the Jacobs rematch and that fa*got that calls himself Boo Boo.
Fans will sh1t on him regardless, but I'd rather see GGG fight Canelo again, winner of Saunders/Lemiuex and Charlo after. And Jacobs again.
Whether he does any of that, I really don't know. But those options are better than moving to 168.
He didn't unify the titles. Hopkings unified them and Taylor picked them up in one swoop.
i didnt say he unified i said he was undisputed something that golovkin isnt.

I had Canelo winning Cotto fight like 8-4, but the Lara fight is honestly a pick 'em fight...it was such a bad fight and I can't watch it again. I watched it twice and it was hard, very hard. As hard as watching most of BHop's career tbh
How the "monster" MarGGGarito had so much trouble with such a mediocre JMW in Canelo is beyond me....or probably because he's horrible.
There was a punch, a body shot that Canelo landed in the fourth or fifth round that turned the fight in his favor. Lara gradually changed from moving and punching to running and forgetting to punch. That's my perception of the fight.
The Charlo sisters have been around for years and they can't even reach Thurman-level popularity.
Who are you kidding with this silly GGG should dare to be great crap.
Why only him? There are hundreds of fighters and you clowns would rather only focus on one guy.
...because he's not great. His last 2 fights proved he is a solid champion, but not someone worth measuring against other decades. He squeaked by Danny Jacobs who is contender status and arguably lost to Canelo, but ended with a draw...against a JMW who lost to Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara, and Miguel Cotto...wow.
Canelo beat Lara and Cotto. They put up a fight but they lost. I didn't watch the Trout fight so no comment.
Maybe a couple years ago when he couldn’t land the big fights he was looking for. But now he is getting the best opponents for big money too so I don’t see any reason to move up.
Round 1
-Canelo's 1st scored punch missed
-Canelo's 2nd scored punch was low
-Canelo's 4th scored punch missed, and would've hit GGG's shoulder even if it landed
-Canelo's 5th scored punch was a slap
-Canelo's 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th scored punches were blocked
That's 8 scored blows, that weren't actually scoring blows, in just the 1st round. Don't you know that putting me on ignore only keeps me off of your threads? :haha:
Canelo moved up in weight (not counting the chavez fight) and was landing at will against triple jab. Canelo is a warrior who wants to be great, now watch him light triple jab up some more on may 5th #CaneloCartel

Canelo's motivation for moving up was sus. He was hitting GGG at will, yet GGG outworked him for most of the match? Okay... Canelo dares to be great so much, he handed GGG his belt to duck him, and got clowned on TV afterwards. Canelo dares to be great so much, he had no issues moving down for Liam Smith, but was quick to move up, once Demetrius Andrade became his mandatory challenger. Looks more like Canelo and Oscar are chasing the paper, and GGG's his biggest payday at 160.

It amazes me to see such criticisms and questions from people doing than worse than the guy critiquing and questioning their decisions. How about this, when you have more money than he does you can have an opinion on greatness. As far as he's concerned i'm pretty sure he's chilling financially which is something most of, hell the bulk of the people here can't say. I'd happily take his bank account and be called a failure too.
McDonald’s certainly dares to be great. It makes people all over the World move up, all the way from 160 to 260, from 200 to 300! You name it! McDonald’s is always all the way up!In fact, if every boxer has one too many Mcdonald's Happy Meals, they can all move up a few divisions, LOL!!
Triple jab fans are mad lmao
