“No break, but severe contusion on left hand,” Dino Duva, Rigondeaux’s promoter from Roc Nation Sports, told ESPN via text message on Tuesday.*

Cuz the sh*t bob was sayin after the donaire fight, he said it was a sh*t fight & boring. What did you hear after that? You heard it FROM: espn & a lot of the fans. Do you think that Rigo/donaire fight was sh*t & boring?? No! Next thing you know nobody wants to fight Rigo so Rigo has to move up two weight divisions to fight loma. The dude rigo fought before loma didn't even want to fight Rigo he FLOPPED in boxing! LMMFAO! This aint basketball!
Its kind of like a Dr. finding a cure for cancer & aids but he gets shunned from the medical field..............Rigo got shunned in boxing....& for the record rigo didn't put any effort in this fight, I think it was the only time he ever looked "boring."
While I agree that Arum trashed him I don't think we should make that the excuse for why Rigo's career faltered. Arum has talked plenty of shhh about other fighters who have left him and they have mostly been successful. Hell if Rios hadn't taken a sabbatical he would've made decent money, Gamboa signed with an amateur and it cost him his career but not one of them has lost any money because Arum bashed them.
At some point you have to realize that the man himself is to blame for what transpired post arum. Rigo could've appeared on ESPN deportes, could've done the local spanish sports broadcasts but he won't leave his poolside. Hell there is a quote from Diaz from years ago criticizing him for the same thing in flat out spanish, it's the one and only time we saw Rigo on camera outside of a fight event. Inaction on your part doesn't breed opportunity it steals it from you.
Can u break down what u saw cause I saw him missing a lot and winning rounds because of activity not because he delivered a beating I don’t think the fight ever opened up because rigo was in his shell
You were serious? Anyone could see that things were bad and likely to get worse. Shelled up, holding at every opportunity and still getting hit. If reducing a fighter to this is not schooling him, then the term has no meaning.
Truth is that after bob started that "boring" talk espn fat rafael wrote about it just like that. Then people repeat the same thing when in fact it wasn't in their minds in the 1st place. Do you think the Rigo/donaire fight was "sh*t" or "boring" like bob, espn & the fans says it was?
People thought he was boring before the Donaire fight. Most of the guys I know didn't like him during those Pacquiao undercards. It only became more apparent because he was the main event of an HBO fight and even many people thought that fight was underwhelming in terms of entertainment. Even Freddie Roach, who thinks he's one of the best fighters he's ever trained, is boring.
Boring is a relative term. Much more boxing fans find him boring than exciting. And if the majority find him boring, then they're not paying to watch him.

So it was bob who signed him to Caribe? Is Arum the only promoter. Again if Arum was the problem how come his career turned even worse after he left Arum...he left bob and made even less money so again..if Arum was the problem then explain to me what happened to his career after that...without arum in the picture to blame..

Why did he have to leave Top Rank? The donaire/Rigo fight had over 1 mil viewers. Now language is an issue but why wouldn't you follow that up with a big name/popular opponent? Why would anyone think Rigo was boring after that performance?
Yes, his new promoter is problematic.
You are oversimplifying what happened when the fight was initially discussed.
I don't know how you see me blaming anyone else but Rigo. I am just pointing out the problem I have with how he was treated. In no way does that absolve him for bad decisions he made.
I criticized your blaming on Arum because quite frankly it's the easiest explanation for Rigo's stalled career. Look at the whole picture. How long was he off top rank and what did he do with that freedom? I get people don't like Arum but blaming him for the past few years of Rigo's career is just flat out unfair. Arum is a snake but this cat signed up with a company literally throwing money at the sport and couldn't do anything with it. Who handles that for him? Caribe, so if in a win-win situation they couldn't pull it off was Arum always the problem? I don' think so cuz.
Rigo could've been something special, feel free to look up my posts from years ago on him. I even criticize him back then for not showing up in public outside of having a fight. He didn't help his own cause, never actually did.
How are you one of the top five best athletes in a sport and refuse to do anything public outside of fighting? Rigo like many lesser talented men don't know how to play the game and seem to flat our refuse to play the game. The reality is you can't make a gazillion dollars in this sport without being a public figure. The reality is you can't do insane numbers in this sport hiding by your pool side between fights.
Why do you ignore the facts? Rigo beat the next pacquiao, bob sh*ts on him in the interviews cuz of that fight, the journalist write what bob says, the fans hear it then run with it & the promoters don't want to do business with Rigo cuz they fear a loss. He got offered by bob to fight at a weight he doesn't want remember he wanted 124 not 126 but bob refused & refused to pay him he tries again to meet in the middle bob refused again so he gives everything up & agrees to what bob wants & look where it got him. Just a bit more money that's it. All you are doing is trying to shift the blame when we ALL know what happened. don king I mean bob arum happened....

Stop spewing that nonsense, he was never boring until the second round & on of this fight....

That I understand. My point is boxing isn't like a movie. "exciting" can't be more important than winning.
Excitement comes when fights have evenly matched boxers IMO. So if HBO/TR put him in with other top tier talent, his fights will be exciting. if you put him in with someone levels beneath him and say carry the show and be exciting, that IMO isn't going to happen unless you give rigo the same kind of Kirkland, Rosado, Lundy type guys who will fight hard but have no chance of winning and ultimately get KTFO or bloodied and stopped.
If HBO gave rigo the same type of guys they gave Canelo when he came back or got him in with the best, there would be no issue about excitement.
I think he could have created excitement though. Many fighters have fought journeymen in the past and ramped their game up to get people to tune in despite it being so 1 sided.
If he wanted bigger fights and it was obvious fighters didn't want to fight him and people didn't want to watch him, he has to go out of his comfort zone in order to get those big fights.

Bob Arum tried to help Rigo.
He told him Rigo this is the pros not the amateurs we can't cruise through fights and get boring decisions. We have to actually step on the gas and fight.
He went to his locker room the night he headlined the Agbeko fight. Rigo just laughed it off, and didn't follow instructions. Its since then that bob has been upset.
Nothing to do with ruining Donaire.
:lol1: What a joke!!! I can't even understand those guys still coming to Rigondaeux's defense about the quit job. Softest "elite" in the history of boxing!
Ok I'm tired of this narrative..what did he do after he left Top Rank? Absolutely nothing. So if someone is the cancer and you remove them what's the excuse? I really wish people actually blamed Caribe for his career pitfalls because even Rocnation had trouble with Caribe. Listen to any promoter that has ever had to work with them, it's the same song. I get it, Arum is the easy target here but that ended a long time ago. He got offered the fight at 126, said no then came back three years later and agreed to 130..so that's his opponents fault? They offered him the same fight when he was three years younger...he said "no thank you." At some point you have to stop blaming everyone else and blame the man himself.

Why r we so hard on fighters who risk their lives to entertain us, unless you’ve been in a fight and every time u throw a punch it hurts and u think it’s broken u can’t judge him, it is a bad look but u live to fight another day
you are right I personally have never called a fighter a coward only pointing out if they made an obvious duck to save their career value instead of losing but its pretty bad what rigo did in a fight where he had a chance to be the possible p4p number 1 in some people eyes
he wasnt badly rocked ect he just couldnt do anything and mentally quit he should have stayed in there and fought till the end at least then he could walk away with his head held high and say loma was the better man and fans would (most of them) say fair play he tried to overcome the weight ect unlucky rigo
