I recently started watching some MMA (mostly women MMA) and I can say it's far more exciting and less corrupt than stupid boxing.
Boxing is great but MMA is more complete, and more exciting because boxing is ****ed up by corruption. So boxing itself is not the problem, but the status of the sport is bad because there's no fair play in any way.
Boxing can still compete but it's mostly a place where people with self steem and insecurity issues lookup for boxers to fill their empty space. Those who want real excitement move to another sport.
To be honest when it comes to the UFC I almost miss the boxing-style cherry picking. It's a bit hard to get hyped for fights when both fighters already have more than 5 losses.
Boxing knows how to marinate the big fights the best. It's annoying for most of the time but when the big fight comes like Kovalev vs Ward (29-0 vs 29-0) or Canelo vs GGG I'm HYPED.
MMA just doesn't offer such fights. Even their biggest star McGregor already lost 2 times before coming to the UFC.
I can't get into MMA, they lose me when they start rolling around on the floor & smelling each other's feet. :gay:
I'm more of a girl-girl when it comes to Foot action.
Not a big fan, but can appreciate it. The one thing I like about it is the glove size. I think people underestimate how dramatically the size of gloves affect fights. I think smaller gloves create a more dynamic, razor-edge type fight.
Women's MMA is an actual joke - sorry if I hurt any feelings but it's just ****ing terrible. You have females who strapped on some nice pretty pink gloves, went to the gym for a few years and are now fighting in the UFC. The skill level just isn't there.
MMA the best fight the best MORE often I'd say, because there aren't different sanctioning bodies trying to protect their cash cow. Plus, although they have some stinky decisions, it is much, much less corrupt than boxing and more fights get finished.
boxing is corrupt but at least in our sport the best fight the best.(not implying they dont in mma but they kinda dont)
with the aspects that mma and boxing share most of them go to boxing.
Missing the point a bit. MMA fighters have to thinl about take downs, elbows, and high kicks that can KO them in a second.
All boxes have to think about is the two other fists coming at them. An MMA fighter could beat a boxer in a street fight, I believe.
Leg kicks to the other opponents knee section are getting more common in MMA. I see often guy lose there ability to walk mid fight due to leg kicks.
Boxing and MMA are both legit. I just think MMA fighters have more on their mind.
Someone who is only good at ju jitsu will not do well in MMA. I promise, they would have to work o their wrestling and boxing. Ju jistu requires you to be inside on your opponent to really do anything meaningful
thats the scary part. in mma if one guy is better on the feet then the other guy could train ground to counter it or clinching. in boxing if someone is better you have to literally will yourself to victory. boxing is the purest form of a fair fight. weight to seperate big boys.
think of it like this. 2 boxers = 2 chess players
2 mma fighters = 2 people playing many different board games.
this is also telling for the noticeable skill gap in both sports
people who practice and play nothing but chess are gonna be light years beyond someone trying to juggle many different types of board games
all in all i think boxing is not only superior as a combat sport but also as a fighting system.
Boxers are better boxers I agree. But kicks my friend, can carry devastating power even to the body.
Don't forget some guys in MMA can pick you up and slam you on your head
Grappling is easier than boxing. I started with MMA but decided to go boxing full time to challenge myself.
There's no better feeling than planting your feet with boxing shoes and unleashing bombs. MMA fighters can't do that.
I'll maybe go back to MMA once my athleticism diminishes.
It's a massive difference when those fists are being thrown at you by an elite boxer or some MMA club fighter. Difference in angles, speed, power, accuracy... It's just way harder to box with elite boxers than to exchange punches with MMA fighters. In MMA, you only need to worry about where the fight take place whether it's standing or grappling, depending on where your strength is. In boxing, you need to worry about much more specific things. Also, in boxing you can't save yourself by taking somebody down if you're getting beat up.
Boxing is more complex and harder. MMA is more a lottery, you develop a specific skillset and try to impose it. In boxing, you need to be comfortable at pretty much every aspect of it.

It's been done before my man I'm not saying they can dominate mma but boxers and bjj guys have gone in there and beat the mma guy before at high levels too
I like mma to a certain extent but if a straight up boxer or a straight up jiu jitsu dude CAN go in there and whoop a bunch of dudes I don't consider you complete. It takes away the reputation of the "best fighters in the world" thing

A well trained women figihter can totally beat a male. I've seen it at the gym plenty of times. I've seen ****y dudes come to the gym with that same attitude and they learned real quick the level of skill that trained fighters truly have, male or female.
Haha I don’t know what you witnessed or what men they beat. A good man beats a great little man. A big man beats the sh*t out of a woman. You’re being silly. A woman couldn’t even take a blow from me. Haha. You’re not thinking this through.
No, I don't fight. Do you fight? what does that mean? are you a pro?
dont mess with lopez bro, hell start talking about all the boxing shows hes been to and how he thinks hes some kind of boxing insider that has sex with women!!!! (yes he said that) :lol1:

"A male" could mean anything but these small girls from the UFC wouldn't do so well against average men as the hype suggests. Ronda is 5'6'' and they suggested that she could beat almost any man who doesn't have MMA training LOL. Where I come from average height for men is 5'11''.
Now someone like Christina Hammer could outbox men without boxing training in a boxing match because she has the size and the reach and it's a technique based sport. But the girls in the UFC are really small and when it comes to grappling size is a bigger advantage than in boxing. There are legit male grapplers of Ronda's size who struggle against relatively inexperienced big men in grappling.
Like I said, forget about them going against men, give an elite female athlete like 6'2'' Sharapova or 6'1'' Ana Ivanović some basic training and they beat those small non-athletic girls in the UFC.
Hahaha no they wouldn’t. I am a man. It’s obvious that you don’t fight. Trust me man. These women may not even have the strength of high school males. There’s no way a 135lb woman can “f*ck me up” there’s a reason women don’t compete with men in ANY athletic event. There’s a HUGE difference in speed, strength, well..:EVERYTHING
