I went there before a long time ago and Larry was there. Giant dude. Very cool. The place was empty though. Heres an interesting review:

I should first point out that I have no interest in boxing, nor did I know who Larry Holmes was, until I moved to the area. We went to dinner here a few months ago, thinking the view would be nice on what was an unseasonably warm Spring day. There is plenty of parking, without having to worry about feeding meters.
The wings were some of the smallest I've ever seen. We were joking that they must have come from pigeons. If you spend $8 for wings, you'd expect to get a little meat. She had the turkey club, which she described as slimy turkey on stale bread. I had the "Champ Burger" which was two greasy patties, cheese, LTO, with a pickle and pepper on the side. For $14, I was pretty disappointed.
The "Champ" was present, and came over to our table to see how things were going, which seemed like a nice touch, until he made my "lady friend" uncomfortable. She made some excuse to go to the restroom so she could get out of the situation. With all the great dining options in Easton, there is absolutely no reason to go here, unless you are a boxing fan.

This part is interesting because I had a woman with me as well, and what Larry said was to me and something to the effect of "Well who was the other woman you were here with last week." It was an OBVIOUS joke and I thought it was hilarious and we all laughed. Later though the girl I was with was upset about it. Like that was just so out of line and in poor taste. People are way too sensitive.
Regardless, glad I got to visit the place and meet Larry. Glad he got rid of this dead business too. Restaurants are bank drainers. Can't believe Floyd hasn't opened one yet.
Yes he is a good brotha.
I was just there earlier LMAO

Yea I knew he owned their city hall or whatever good to see that he is still doing well.Dont like to see ANY fighter go broke.
Restaurants are horrible investments or businesses to run, they are a pain in the ass and hardwork, you have competition trying to squash you with negative reviews and have to keep up with competitive prices.
If you want to invest in something like that just invest in property real estate and t
Rent those suckers out.
Luckily for larry he owns commerical property as well.
Nice post I hope Larry still doing well.I know at one time he owned like half of Easton it seemed.

One of the VERY few tv shows I watch is Kitchen Nightmares with G Ramsey. It amazes me how expensive restaurants are to run while profiting in such small increments. Seems like they're either a home run or a triple play. Not much in between. Very high stakes (no pun intended)
The profit margins are sh ite. They hire illegals instead of chefs because basically they have to. The IRS started with the ten percent out no matter what the server brings in, so to get front of the house cost the owners more, food has gone up in price and of course the real estate.
I would have a food car, I would franchise a place, and for my lovely wife I would open a small bistro, a few tables, small menu, GYM UPSTAIRS! haha hell yeah, but thats it, no restaurant with partners.
Yup. people who claim to be savy investors, will throw money at a celebrity chef, restaurant, after being told the place will not even show a profit (Return of investment) for ten years... and then laugh at a Mobile home park that has stable tenants, room for expansion and brings in good money every month.

Hey Lou when are you flying out to Vegas?
Those are heart attack numbers. You can buy a house for 30k.

As much as a lot of your threads are absurd... I'll back you on the fact that those are indeed real pictures not ripped from the internet and pretty cool. Backhanded compliment I know but... oh well.
All good my friend. I play around a lot and I know that casts doubt on the occasions when I'm serious, but real ones know whats real and what is satire. Thank you!
Then you can reverse image search them and prove me wrong right now.....GO!

The di ckhead partner owned the building for the restaurant, the places next to us, some of them? 30k a month :frown:
I don't know how those numbers add up! I mean they do at a certain point, i would rather be the landlord though... "Sure Mr Floyd I bet your recipe for duck will bring em all in sign on the dotted line." Seriously I tell all restaurant aspirants to BUY the property they want to locate in or, make the landlord rich because on a commercial lease they can raise your rent at any time. :sad2:

:lol1:
We opened a place in san francisco with 2 partners and myself as the chef. The one guy turned out to be a sociopath...I caught it early got out of there and begged my friend (partner #2) to do the same, which he did not unfortunately for him...
I frequent the restaurant scene quite a bit. Some of my friends have been in the industry. It’s a tough biz, real risky, even for someone who knows what they’re doing. You live and die by the quality of your food. Plenty of choices in most places. But ambience, service and price are also major factors. If you can’t make a simple burger right, you’re not gonna last. And the host making customers uncomfortable isn’t gonna help. Haha
Thats awesome haha damn SF seems real expensive too. Yeah Ive read Larry's books he's a true warrior in the ring and out. Terrible singer though

While doing consulting gigs I met this guy who had some places in san francisco and he heard about my situation in North Beach, you have to picture this guy...about 55, heavy set with an outer brough accent NYC and a lisp... looks at me for a second and says "Darrell, you know what partners are good for?" I say "no" he says "TO DANCE!!" :lol1:
Amen!! Larry beat the system. told Don King to f ck himself and made it work! Had a bunch of places in his hometown. Loved to watch that man work the jab... one of the best lateral moving heavyweights ever perhaps.
