Orlando was a pretty good fighter. Set a record for bantamweight defenses(IBF only) though not against top competition. Many thought he lost to Reyes during that run. Was much better than his brother Gaby but both were up there during that era.(Orlando and Gaby were the first brothers to hold a title at the same time)
Orlando rose to junior featherweight to challenge Wilfredo Vazquez and lost and then fought as a mediocre contender at feather and Jr. Lightweight the rest of his career.
Nice breakdown bro, thanks for the info!

lol no....good fighter no doubt and watching some of his fights he was certainly world level for a time but he was never upper tier in his gen, let alone across all gens lol
I never see him mentioned on these forums. This dude was an absolute beast. His style looks somewhat of a mix between Marquez and Lomachenko.
Canizales was very good fighter, great footwork and lateral movement. I like the JMM comparison. Unfortunately, he kinda falls into the category of a forgotten champion. The only fight of his I can really remember was the Wilfredo Vasquez fight which was sort of a dull fight as both were past their best at that point. Although I do think Canizales should’ve won that fight, he outboxed Vasquez pretty clearly over last 5 or 6 rounds, but lost a SD.
I saw him fight many times. I would call him very good but not great. I don't think he was as good as Marquez, Loma or Rigo but he was very good. Just my opinion.
