He looked in bad physical shape (check out his midsection), boxed the same way he always does and was not challenged at all by the quality of the opposition.
Saw absolutely no difference at all. It did make me smile because he's a clever boxer who lays great traps. I forgot how much I enjoy watching him, despite all the junk he talks.
I thought Kovalev might get beaten by Stevenson, but seeing how focused he is right now I agree also, Ward is the only one that could beat Kovalev but then again that fight is 50-50 if Kovalev is focused and disciplined as he claimed to be,
True. Good post.
I would like to see the first time he gets hurt from a shot
What his reaction will be
Shabranskyy did not tag him at all
I personally saw the same guy as always
This guy was tailor made for moral and confidence
I thought he looked great, his movement especially and the power and accuracy is still there.
Only negative is that I thought he got steadied by a couple of jabs, I wonder whether he's getting too tight at the weight? Maybe Shabranskyy can just punch.
Kovalev looked focused and dominant. After the Ward fiasco it was good to see him beat the odds and come back the way he did Saturday night. He needs to fight a more worthy opponent like Bivol or Beterbiev to prove it to himself and boxing fans.
He did what he was supposed to. Realistically his two "losses" aren't as bad as made out he's still basically an undefeated fighter (hard to take fight II with Ward seriously when it was a nut shot combination "KO").
I thought he did what he was supposed to do and with that he makes himself marketable again and extends his career. Fortunately for him his loses to Ward were not without controversy so that definitely helps him.
He took the guy out within two rounds, that guy actually tried his best to shake him up and I thought oh shit Kovalev might fold here! But he looked focus and stuck with it.
