I was pretty hyped when i saw him copying his dads stance and style for his first fight, but the gimmick quickly wore off.
Eubank is decent imitation of his dad.
Connor is just an imitation, nothing more.
Josh Taylor territory. Benns unlucky, right smack bang in the middle of the best UK prospects divisions. Really I should reserve judgment, as people have said, hardly any amatuer experience. Long way to go.
JT is a former Olympian and top level amateur, plus he is like 26. Just a whole different career path. Benn is a toddler in age and has barely come out the womb in boxing terms.
Hearn needs to be careful how much he promotes ths guy imo. All well and good playing of his dads name, but eventually people are gunna start asking for tests that he isnt ready for. Would be a shame if they rushed him as he does look talented. He has 5 years before he is Taylors age. Plenty of time to learn his craft.
I dont see the point in taking him to Hearns first American card and getting him more exposure when he isnt anywhere near ready. Should have taken one of his Olympians. The yanks would have loved Josh Kelly's style. Or Buatsi.
Not sold on him, his competition level is very poor
He also seems very raw, defensive skills look piss poor, wonder what will happen when he faces someone that can fight and crack

He's got Eddie looking after him, he will be fine. Look at how many world title shots Paul Smith got, Eddie will weasel him a route to easy belts. By the time Benn's looking at world titles Taylor will have moved to 147. He's a huge 140 so he won't be hanging around long after he wins a title at 140.
He would eventually have to, obviously British level, then commonwealth then Euro. The fact that he is new to boxing means he needs a lot of fights.
I just mean Euro level is way too far away. Southern Area title would be a big step up. No guarantee he gets through domestic scene
I wouldnt even be thinking about his potential at Euro level yet tbh

Kelly is going to be Welterweight, Benn is going to fight at 135/140. That fight is a long/long way off.

Not that am putting him down or anything, but his opponent doe. Like a lot of people pointed out Benn needs a lot of fights before he can even go Euro level. He can go the Wilder route.. 35 odd fights because he fights someone with a pulse.

Benn does look like he has talent, but he is a complete novice. No am background, didnt box as a kid.
If they step him up to Area level (two levels below the British title for the yanks in here) in the next year he will be doing well.
He is only really getting attention due to his surname, but tbf he is learning pretty quick and has athletic ability. Similar to Eubank Jnr in a way at the beginning. Jnr had a long way to go then to become a true prospect, and so does Benn
Thought I'd check his opponent quickly before watching hoping he'd be taking a marginal step up. His opponent hasn't beaten a single fighter that had a win.
Safe to say I won't be wasting my time watching, I'm sure it was a great K.O though.
They are doing the right thing with him in my opinion. He has no amateur career behind him so he's doing his learning on big shows against nobodies. There's no rush, he's only about 20.

Well that dude was boxrec ranked 1200 or something. Benn aint gunna go above British/Euro level, eventually Hearn gunna feed him to Josh Kelly. Kelly far superior.
Good punch though.
