Why are there no popular Cruiserweights?

Cruiserweight is no doubt one of the best divisions in boxing today.

Who said they aren't 'popular'? They absolutely are! At least in a global sense and in the European continent. Perhaps you mean they aren't popular in USA, UK or other Western countries? Well, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Andre Ward and many other boxers of USA aren't popular in those European countries either. So yes, they are popular in a global sense but not as popular in western countries like USA.

Cruiserweight is arguably the best division in boxing today. On top of that the top fighters there actually fight each other I'd say it's one of the weaker divisions in boxing but getting better, it's in a development phase. You go 1 division north and there are multiple heavies that would beat the best guys at cruiser. The Fury bros, Pedvetkin, Wilder, Ortiz, Joshua, Joyce, Parker, Pulev, etc. even guys like Ugonoh and Breazeale. Meanwhile 1 division south you have light heavies that aren't even top 5 like Bellew and Vlasov invading the division and destroying guys left and right.

It never caught on in America. A bonafide star or a fighter, with a big personality and who fights exciting fights that gets the publics attention, would probably look to move up to heavyweight as soon as possible to chase the big money.

It isn't popular here in the US.

That Usyk kid or however you spell his name is really good and I can see him getting Lomachenko type attention if you market him correctly. HBO should jump on him, they hardly have anything and they get a hard on for these Eastern Euro cats anyhow. He actually seems more interesting than Lomachenko outside of the ring.

Fans fail to realise that Prime Ali, Frazier, Patterson and many other Great Fighters would be cruiserweights today

Its big in Europe where all the best fighters are from. America and the UK have some interesting prospects coming up with the right backing its getting there and finally getting the credit that it deserves. The wssb is really helping though in my personal opinion it could have been promoted better. Its definitely getting there I speak to so many casuals and Usyk's name in particular gets brought up a lot.

Yeah its pretty popular on the continent in Europe. I think in general though it will always be HW's little brother. Its fine really. Sometimes less mainstream attention can help a division thrive. Less crazy demands and drawn out negotiations, more fights between top fighters.

Breidis is a huge star in Latvia. Usyk is a big star in Ukraine and only going to get bigger. Both pull in larger live and TV crowds than so called popular US names.

The only cruiserweight I know of is Marco Huck and thats because I saw him on TV once, he had the most basic almost child like boxing style i ever saw, just really bad to watch I dont follow the WBSS cruiserweight tournament either and rarely see anyone talk about it in this forum. How come the cruiserweight division (who really look like conditioned heavyweights) are rarely discussed, is it a talent thing or do they just not get enough exposure? It's dominated by eastern europeans so it doesn't get as much attention as the other weights that have popular American/western europe fighters.
