Was watching the Eubanks Jr fight and all he did was hold anytime he got close.. I have noticed this a lot in boxing, what happened to working in the trenches?? Is inside fighting not being taught anymore?
everytime they got close, he held or they both literally just stood there
What are you talking about? Eubank was consistent with throwing uppercuts in the inside he caught Yildirim in the first round with an uppercut and dropped him. Do you even watch the fights before making threads like this?
It is a dying art. Also referee's these days don't do much to help that either. If one fighter doesn't want to fight inside, he just has to clinch for 2 seconds and the ref steams in and breaks it up. I used to see ref's telling fighters to work out of the clinches but it's very rare to see it these days.
This ^
To add on to that, inside fighting truly requires both fighters to be willing to engage in it. If one guy simply just wants to tie up, more often than not the inside fighter isn't going to be very effective. The vast majority of clinches in Ward Kovalev I was initiated by Kovalev, making the rounds very close and hard to score as a result
Erickson Lubin and David Benevidez both 20 years old and they already have probably the best inside game in their Division already! Anthony Yarde is also a beast on the inside and is nasty to the body. So it is a few up and coming guys who are being trained well and loves working on the inside but yeah overall I would say it is a Lost Art to the point in which a lot of guys just tie up and look around for the Ref to come break them
I like Duran, James Toney, Mike McCallum and Chavez Sr styles on the inside, Tuck those arms and WORK on the inside!

What pisses me off is when aggressive pressure fighters cant fight inside. Like GGG or Matthysse.
Their opponent holds their feet and you think that should be when they go to work, but they are infinitely more comfortable on the chase than up close and personal.
Try that sh*t with JCC and you'd better be Sweet P good otherwise you are getting f*cked up.
Eubank throws a lot of upper cuts on the inside, that's his best punch and his power punch too.. he doesn't have a great hook or straight right..
He was holding a bit so that Yildrim tries to push or punch then he would push a few uppercuts through..
My favourite inside fights are Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard and Henry Armstrong vs Baby Arizmendi. Inside fighting was an art every bit as technical as outfighting or counter punching to these guys.
Armstrong and Duran are the GOAT inside fighters imo. A fight between these two would have been unreal.
I agree with the premise of the thread but i agree with others that Eubank is not a good example. Not so far in his career or Saturday night.
Other examples of good inside fighters imo are Badou Jack, Lamont Peterson and (still raw but developing) Anthony Joshua.
Spence is more midrange but ive seen him do good inside work.
In general it is not the same level as you could see in the past from almost all fighters.

The refs don't call excessive holding like they used to.
sad....................
larry is not sad, larry is a proud hater of people of different skin tones, lol, thats why you made this manipulative hate thread, lol, true story
The irony is when you do inside fighting many boxing fans call it dirty fighting. Such as: Head butting, elbows, punching with a free hand, low blows, rabbit punching etc. These complaints only occur when their favorite fighter/hero is on the receiving end of it.
yep................
imagine seeing 12 rounds of inside fighting?
its okay like 3 times per fight, pitty pat then the ref gets bored and breaks them up.
hugging means youre tired likely. hug with 1 hand. nah my cuppa tea.
what you described is the opposite of inside fighting
basically what im telling ignorant larry that he is a rascist hate mongrol, lol, this thread is your way of finding a way to call loma a whiteboy who cant fight cause hes white, lol, thats what you do, lol true story:dance:

The refs don't call excessive holding like they used. That probably has a bearing on the problem.
wtf??????????????

I was thinking the same thing. There was alota times they both just had there heads together doing nothing. I thought it was strange cause it was so early in the fight and neither seemed gassed, but both were doing a lot of stalling not throwing a whole lot
thank you, it confused the hell out of me, they literally just stood there at times
im not making this up
It's mainly a North American art. Mexicans and Americans mostly. Euro's especially the British don't know how to fight on the inside.
Yes you are. If that is a full fight video then you see the uppercuts. Plain and simple. I won't go over this as you are sick and sad.
Just watch the video, damn its clear as day
