ok and who is beating better fighters now?
Are you asking about who's beating better fighters at 168 or elsewhere?
Historically, 168 is one of those transient divisions thats dead for the most part. Look at when Calzaghe was doing his thing. He doesn't have any notable names that aren't old and out of their prime that are on his record.
If we're talking about different divisions, I can name a few that are on their way?
It should be noted that Ward has been pro 13-14 years (with only has 32 wins) so it's pretty hard to find a fighter that has as many names on their record as Ward does.
Even though there are a few *'s n Thurmans resume as well, I think his level of opposition is approaching Wards. Quintana and Collazo have *'s. But he's also beaten Danny Garcia (undefeated), Shawn Porter, Guerrro, Karass and an undefeated but untested Chavez by TKO. He doesn't figh dirty.
Spence hasn't fought anybody of note yet besides Brook who has an * as well), but I think my eye is telling me Spence is destined for greatness. He doesn't figh dirty.
Even though I think Canelo lost, his opposition is absolutely better than Wards. Cotto (both), Trout (undefeated), Angulo, Lara*, Kirkland, Khan*, Chavez*. Did I mention he doesn't figh dirty?
Almost every single one of his wins is tainted by fighting dirty unnecessarily. I like Ward as a boxer, but as a fighter --- dude is Dirt McGirt. The guys mentioned above haven't been pro as long and are very active whereas Ward was very inactive. He should be fighting Stevenson straight up. He's robbing us from a great fight.
He can bítch about the money, but everybody and their mother knows Roc Nation lost money on him. How can he expect to get those purses consistently is retarded. He's not worth those purses. He's like on a Rigondeaux level regarding the public. The audience wants excitement and his SOG shít has always hurt him. Boxing is modern times is a two-fold path. You need skill, and a mouth --- the end. He's only got 50% of that package.
still waiting................
Hopkins has imo, Tito, oscar, Jones (old and shot, but still). I don't know if Tito or Oscar will be true ATGs in the same sense as Floyd and Manny.
there are a lot of *'s on his opponents and the fact he cried so hard about moving up taints his body of work.
Dawson came down in weight, three fighters have done that in history (to win a title).
Abraham was an overblown middleweight.
Green was damaged goods.
Bika loses to everybody.
Froch is b-level.
Kovaquit never fought anybody but an old man hopkins who was bound to lose to youth eventually and a blown up pascal that got run straight out of 168.
Kesser and rodriguez would have been good wins if ward didn't fight so dirty.
He did it to himself --- now he pays.
ok and who is beating better fighters now?
Who has any boxer beaten these days who is an ATG?? Mayweather and Manny did...name the other recent boxers who have

Yeah, not really.
lol how is this not really? you either beat the champ or there wasnt a champ and you beat the 1st or 2nd rated fighter. You cannot become lineal champ by beating nobody
I think his skills are more overrated than his resume. I don't see this master boxer bull**** that a lot of dudes yap about. This is coming from someone that grew up watching Whitaker. Ward doesn't come close as far as skills.
This right here..
Dude finds a way to win which is a skill in itself but I also don't see anything special when I watch him fight. He throws one punch at a time then grabs and holds, he's not the fastest or the most powerful.. He's just overall solid like a guy who bats .300 with 20 hr and 80 rbi. Those numbers will get you in the hall over a career but you won't win any awards during the season.

How many boxers have wins over ATGs in their resume? lol
In previous threads, many posters on this site said they don't know if they could put Ward in the top 100 all time and would not put Ward in the HOF on the 1st ballot given Mayweather, RJJ and Klitschko will be eligible at the same time. Many others would put him in the top 100 all time, but even then generally not that far down the list.
I think his standing in the sport is very well respected but tempered enough. I don't see him being overrated.
I dont see how you can say anybody's resume that has lineal champ on it is overrated. You had to have beat the best in the division to get that
Yeah, not really.
Ward has a resume that can be viewed in a couple different ways. He beat Froch in his Prime and beat Kov when most were scared to fight him. I think that is why he wanted to fight GGG too. He was trying to add bigger names to his resume.
The same could be said for any of the top guys now. He beat the top guys in every division he was in. When he was at 168 he beat the best there. Went to 175 and did the same. I am not saying he has the best resume ever but he did what he could do. Fought the guys that were there.
He beat a prime Froch who will more than likely be a HOF'er and a prime Kovalev who was top 5 p4p and will probably also solidify a HOF career. There are not many fighters who can say that.
Kessler, Abraham, multiple world champions. Sakio Bika world champion. Miranda and Green are serious gatekeepers who can punch.
That is a very solid resume and to think Kovalev aside, that he barely lost any rounds against the above guys makes it seriously impressive.
