First they tried to put Shawn Porter on the non PPV card of MayMac and now they are using him as the co main event for Wilder. I am not saying that Shawn is a superstar but i think we can all agree that at this point he is a solid enough name to headline his own events.
Now about the opponents. I understand that Shawn needed a fighter past his best after taking the L against Thurman. Andre Berto was the perfect opponent and Shawn handled business just like he was supposed to. What's the point of him facing Granados next? other than activity and stacking up the Wilder card that fight is meaningless.
I ride hard for Al Haymon but these Porter moves seem pretty questionable to me...
Because the Welterweight division is in its weakest state in years, and the calibre of fighter there simply isn't great (or yet proven)
None of the fighters there are particularly exciting (enough to warrant greater attention).
The division needs to heat up a little with talent, Crawford will help, and hopefully within a couple years it will begin to pick up pace
Well, you should really reassess how you come to the conclusion that porter is "better" than Maidana.
Because he's not, maidana has/had a better career. Porter has no big wins and loses all his big fights.
I thought Maidana put it on Broner more than porter did. That is a common opponent between the two.
Porter is the new andre brto guerrero type.
A GATE KEEPER FOR LIFE
Porter is the better boxer and athlete compared to the two. I will go as far as to say that Porter is the only Welter that could've beaten Floyd.
I like Porter. Good fighter, lost to Brook yeah, who's a damn good fighter in his own right and put on a boxing clinic on Shawn...of cure for insomnia that is! I've seldom, if ever, seen such a clinchfest.
I would rather have Porter destroying bums if that means we get to see more fights, which is, you know, a boxer's line of work. Not every match has to be a championship duel against an elite fighter. If you don't fight at all, your skills go down.
¿Who do you think he should (and deserves) to fight? ¿Garcia? ¿Spence? ¿Rematch Broner?

People praise Madianna but Porter is better. I just don't get it.

****ck porter. He's a headbutting dirty fighter.
The berto fight was like ward-kessler times 20, porter uses his head like a bettering ram.
The guy loses all his big fights....SUPRISED??? WHY?
yeah hes a legitimate world class fighter. he lost to thurman and brook by the narrowest of margins, and in both fights quite a few people scored it a draw or for porter. but in this sport even if you lose by one round you are a bum and youve been exposed.

They never come back after posting one senseless post.
We don't know whether he agrees/disagrees with some of the sensible responses here.
They always cry about nothing.
Ok good news being a family man can't fault him for that. Thought losing really got to him like some fighters.
It likely did bother him, but he's only been out of the ring 5 months now, is seemingly already getting into shape to fight again, and he likely left out of the Thurman fight with his home set, his pop's set, his business in Philly humming, and at least another million dollars in the bank.
His heart is hopefully still in fighting, but the days of fighters simply needing to take fights to keep the lights on, as far as the guys with Haymon, are over.
Danny's living life; he earned more than $2m off the Thurman fight, after already basically having his life set, financially, even before the fight, and he's seemingly taken this break to rest his body and be a father to his little girl.
Saw a picture of him from some event where he was being featured, and he's already gotten rid of his usual bit of bloat between fights.
No rush for Danny.

He's a crude brawler that is high risk and low reward. Watching that Berto fight was rough to sit through. The top welters don't want to risk getting roughed up all night for a guy who isn't a household name. Danny Garcia is looking for a fight with Callazo last I heard. Didn't want any part of Porter because he doesn't to risk another loss which will set his career back even further.
Those are two different sports.
I know but to my knowledge you guys calling what we call soccer as football and vice versa. You are calling this one as football right?
