Rewatched the fight and it's my strong opinion that GGG wasn't going for a KO win last night.
He wants a rematch with Canelo - because of the huge money involved - and the best way to ensure a rematch would be to win the fight on points without putting a bad beatdown beatdown on Canelo.
There is no way Canelo would have excercised his rematch clause if he'd got KTFO by GGG. That's why GGG just peppered Canelo with light shots when he had him up against the ropes, instead of uncorking the power like he usually does when he has a guy trapped.
He was looking to score points, not going for a KO!
Is that why he went the distance with Jacobs too? oh wait, he wouldn't purposely want to rematch Jacobs because he wanted the Canelo fight, so I guess he carried Jacobs to get the Canelo fight and then carried Canelo to get a Canelo rematch lol.... seems to convenient but i think this is a troll thread to be fair.

I didn't watch the fight live, because I fell to sleep at about 4:30 am (my time zone)... :)
I only watched the recording and I think that both fighters held back and didn't fully load their power punches...
GGG is too old
GGG wasn't allowed to attack Canelo's body
GGG could have KO'd Canelo, but wanted the decision
:pat:
First explanation mentions GGG's age. That's "making excuses" ... Not allowed at this forum.
Second is just silly.
Third one works best here.
Kafkod please don't go full groupie on us. You are " one of the good ones", lol.
He definitely didn't press for th ko, but imo that was because he didn't want to get countered, not becaus he was thinking about long term earning potential.
Time after time, GGG used his jab and footwork to cut the ring and get Canelo right where he wanted him, backed up against the ropes, then he let him go without unloading any big shots.
There are 3 possible explanations for why that happened, including yours and the one I gave in this thread.
I'm discounting yours because it's not in GGG's character to hold back his punches for fear of being countered.
The other explanation is that, at 35 yo, Golovkin has slipped over the hill and can no longer pull the trigger under pressure. But that would be "making excuses" so I can't talk about it at this place.

He was swinging bombs but missed almost all of them. It reminded me of Paquiao vs Mayweather. Hitting nothing but air.
You GGG fan boys need to stop making excuses. Your boy finally met his match
What are you asking? Out of how many of all the boxers I listed called it a robbery or said Jacobs won?
What difference would it make for you?
First you said, no one said Jacobs won, now you're asking out of how many of the boxers that said Jacobs won called it a robbery... Next you'll be asking out of all the people that said it was a robbery, how many thought G was obliterated. Then it will be out of how many that thought G was obliterated, thought he was destroyed
Sit your ass down clown
Didn't read anything after what difference would it make.
If you can't figure out the difference between a close decision and a robbery you are dumber than I thought. . . . well okay not really. You are as dumb as I thought.
:lol1:
Cool story.. you wish it was true but it ain't.. GGG missed a lot of rights and the ones that landed did not land with FULL Impact because Canelo had his weight on his back foot his backfoot..
You think GGG would fight Ward? :lol1:
No, but to say he wouldn't go for the knockout because he wouldn't get a rematch is stupid. OP sounds like Abel.... we didn't go for the KO because Canelo wouldn't fight us. :pat:
Sometimes, I don't get boxing fans. We get a great fight, an obvious crap decision, and then start slamming the boxers.
It is moronic to think Alvarez won't want a rematch. He thinks he can handle GGG power. Of course he wants it.
It is silly to suggest GGG didn't go for the KO. Alvarez is a world class fighter. Not a shame in the world going all 12.
I did not buy the PPV (blew 70$ on GGG/Danny Jacobs. Another great match worth of a part 2) so I will wait until I watch it this week until I slam the scoring, but there will be a rematch and there will be adjustments. I am.pumped, and have zero idea why anyone in any thread is criticizing either boxer.
Lol.
What makes you think he wouldn't get a rematch if knocks out Canelo? Knocking him out would give him more leverage in negotiations, or give him another big pay day against someone like Ward.

All of them... At least over 20 boxers off the top of my head thought Jacobs won and I'm missing dozens more
Now scram
They said robbery huh?
You been handled again. Go get those eyes checked Adalaide Byrd Jr.
