Was this the point where GGG knew he could not hurt Canelo?

This could be said about any boxer in any boxing match anywhere. You can do better than this. The right punch on the chin, doesn't even have to be that hard. The physiology behind it will end in a KO. Canelo and GGG are durable good fighters. Great fight. I'm saying it wasn't a clean punch, not sure what you came away with but alas I do have a forum thread crediting Canelo with his whiskers in literally the first sentence of a very long post.

Did not land on the chin, that's not to say Canelo didn't eat the shot well but side of the head versus chin are two different things. I am though impressed that Canelo ate that punch the way he did, but don't know if he goes "nope" with that landing square on the chin. It didn't matter. Canelo retreated all night and was never in control. 8-4 GGG

Canelo actually took a fair bit of the sting out of that punch with his slight head movement backwards. He rode it well, but in a subtle manner.

Even the jabs got blocked partially when they landed. Canelo did a great job defensively against a pressure fighter. GGG is going to really pressure in the rematch.

I think GGG felt Canelos power, which is why he was reluctant to throw anything but a jab

To be honest he didn't get chances to land a lot of flush punches on Canelo.

There was a shot that landed on a Canelo that hurt him. I can't remember what round (maybe round 8 or 9), but GGG landed a flush right hand in between Canelo's combination.

GGG hurt canelo a couple of times in the fight.

I gave it to Golovkin but it also shows how masterful a job of defense Canelo was doing for the most part. He looked like Floyd in there in spots. Defense counts, and in rounds where Golovkin failed to score as good as this, the flurries and the defense were quite enough to give Saul the round.

He couldn't do **** with him. He did land some good shots in the 7th, 8th and 12th however but for the most part Canelo was too slick to get tagged with anything meaningful.
