Let's say Canelo did that for five rounds. That's five to Golovkin.
Everyone agrees that Canelo won 10-12. Everyone agrees Canelo won 1. So that's four to Canelo.
The problem is really rounds 2 and 3. A lot of people gave those to Canelo and I struggle to understand why. Golovkin was the effective aggressor in both of those rounds and started walking Canelo down. It's like all people cared about was punches landed. Again. That's not the only dimension.
- Who was walking forward vs. walking backward? (Golovkin)
- Who was effective at cutting off the ring? (Golovkin, at least early on)
- Who was countering and striking effectively (Regardless of volume....Golovkin)
- Who was defensively more brilliant? (Canelo)
- Who was the busier fighter? (Golovkin)
That's what I saw in both those rounds, and thus why I had Golovkin winning 7-5. It's not like it was a blow out or some silly 8-4 nonsense like people say. This was a close fight, just like the Jacobs fight, and could have gone either way. Both guys have stamina issues which is why it became a close fight.
lil g was ineffective walking forward. He walked forward Nelo tagged him & moved. STICK & MOVE. lil g didn't even throw many punches especially when Nelo gave him an invitation on the ropes. You contradict yourself when you wrote " - Who was defensively more brilliant?
How about you kids go back to watching Rocky 3 and 4?
GGG beat canelo, and it was NOT because of aggression.
Froch beat dirrell, punches were about equal, and froch came forwrd, which won him the fight
Answer the question ggg fanatic!
How a bigger man with better footwork, stronger, heavier hands, better jab, more comfort at 160 weight, and better boxing pedigree could not decisively beat or knockout someone that was smaller, slower feet, gassed, no power, and inferior amateur pedigree?
How you ggg fanatics going to explain THIS? How?
No, ggg was supposed to cut off the ring and this fight exposed that his ability to cut off the ring was exposed exponentially! Everyone claimed he was the best pressure fighter in the sport(he is def one of the best/arguably the best) with the best cutting the ring ability but a guy with slow feet outmanuevered him!
Potshots? You score PROBING jabs but not combos to the body and head but call it "potshots" man get off the crackpot!
That's the point, without power ggg would be an average with a decent stiff jab which is what I'm trying to tell you!
Don't let HBO, Jim Lampley and Harold Lederman controll how you think!
Do research on past fights who used the ring to give themselves better angles and to set traps!
What happened when Canelo decided to stand with GGG in the middle of the ring? He went to the body over and over and ggg would throw that same telegraphed overhand right or jab over and over!
He would be a fighter who comes forward, has very little defensive responsibility, throws volume punches and basically his game would be volume punching but with slow hand speed!
He'd get beaten up honestly without that heavy handedness cuz in boxing it's all about timing and inches and Canelo consistently made him miss with that right hand and then countered when he wanted!
Just LOOK at their faces at the post fight conferences, who would you rather be!
Some ggg fans cleaner punches won him the fight against Jacobs despite the knockdown but what Canelo's cleaner harder punches!
I watched the fight with Claus Borre commentating.
Canelo's combos were nothing but gloves. I don't think he landed 50 punches in that fight.
GG kept his jab on Canelito's ass the whole fight.
He made the fight moving foreward off the jab.
Canelo didn't take away anything...all he did was imitate Lara:lol1::lol1:
He didn't take away gs body attack? Abel said he did. I'm pretty sure the gameplan wasn't "just jab"
GGG technically defeated Canelo the same way Floyd did...with the jab.
Mayweather landed 139 jabs and 93 power punches.
Golovkin landed 108 jabs and 110 power punches.
Alvarez landed only 43 jabs on Floyd and 55 jabs on Golovkin.
Good to see double-standards and bias are still thriving among the casuals and haters.
Thank you for posting this. The bold is exactly why Canelo can't be given credit. This is the problem with people who can't reconcile Manny losing.
You can't show up 1 minute of a round and be given that round because you get a few nice looking punches. It doesn't work that way.
That's why Jeff "The Hornet" Horn beat Manny.
That's why Ward beat Kovalev.
That's why Golovkin beat Canelo - albeit only by one round.
Which is why the fight was so hard to judge. Do you score the round for Canelo when he only fought for the first 30 seconds of a round, landing beautiful combinations and counters? Or do you score GGG for being consistent, albeit missing quite a bit, in his attack for the whole round.
That's what quite a few rounds came down to.
Neutralizing your opponent is ring generalship. It's clear Canelo took away GGGs body attack and triple g couldn't land any clean, telling punches. That's clear. And it wasn't because Canelo "ran" because all of Gs opponents run from his power and he still has his way. Whiether you think he won or lost Canelo is definitely not getting the credit he deserves for his performance.
So is the bigger guy just supposed to be faster than the smaller guy?
What so GGG was supposed to just stand there and let Canelo pot shot him without jabbing? Was he supposed to knock down Canelo to win?
Let's say that GGG's power is gone, just for the sake of argument. How should he have beaten Canelo?

We are more than willing to see, the problem is you can't produce any, it's that simple.
We don't even see gifs mocking Canelo, of ggg's fans showing off his work. These forums should be flooded with them and would be flooded with them if they could actually find some but they can't.
Ok have it your own way. The fight is over Canelo was lucky to salvage a draw. The rematch is coming so it will get settled then.
Dude nobody is posting because the guys that think Canelo won are not willing to see. Nobody wants to get caught up in a long futile debate with people that have an agenda. The vast majority of observers thought Golovkin won and that includes boxers, trainers, and media that picked Canelo to win.

Bruh your a casual! You put a counter puncher and runner in the same bracket!LOL
Go back to your Starbucks, MMA and bar brawls chugging Octoberfest beer!
GGG is the bigger man, he's a career middleweight while Canelo just recently fought away from the Jr middleweight limit!
How are you ggg fans gonna explain this ONE?
How?
What so Canelo is supposed to stand there and let ggg hit him? What kind of logic is that?
How about you go to your local bar and start a fight with a bigger guy with heavier hands and just stand and trade with him and come back here and lie to us that you beat the stuffing out of him instead of you telling the truth of you having to eat thru a straw!
You folks who keep spewing what other people say and call it facts is nothing but zombified followers!

They weren't quality as much as you want to pretend they were. It was Canelo landing the quality shots. The 1 shot each man out landed each other in were body shots and jabs. It comes down to Canelo's effective, hard body punching to ggg's pitty pat jabs.
It's been 2 weeks since the fight ended and there has only been 1, just a single gif of ggg landing a partial neck punch.
Where are all the gifs, the sigs of ggg's clean work? It's easy to find Nelo's, but when you ask ggg fan boys for hard evidence they fail to produce it.

"Blown up jr middle weight fighter".. Yeah, the jr. middle weight fighter that fought at 164.

nobody cant say they were not suprised by the 10-2 score. it was either a awkward wtf is happening laugh knowing its not right, or oh dear, head in hands i can not believe whats happening.
The ultimate aggression vs sporadic clean punching fight is Froch vs Dirrell.
That is a line in the sand for where judges and fight fans stand.
I thought Dirrell should have been thrown out let alone win the fight. And there is absolutely no doubt he landed the cleaner harder punches and I think he buzzed Froch a few times. Unfortunately, he also literally dived to the mat whenever Froch had him any kind of tough spot.
Similarly Hughie Fury vs Parker. Hughie looked nice and neat on the back foot but he essentially stopped a fight breaking out.
Canelo was aggressive in spots and took the fight to GGG at times. So I can see why people have that fight for Canelo.
For me, If I think if a fighter is trying to stop from breaking out and avoiding engaging for 2 minutes 50 seconds of a round and then lands with hard clean shot. I still don't want to give him the round. It just feels like a robbery. Scoring is subjective but aggression is fairly objective - you can see it when one guy is forcing the issue.
