Since MMA call us boxers one dimensional then how is that they cant beat us if they are multi talented in all the arts of fighting. Not calling boxers real fighters. Quick challeng... anyone please show me McGregor hitting a speed bag or jump roping... he said he started as a boxer...that he has 26 am's fight that he certainly can't prove..... anyone please provide a link...lol
Connor McGregor has power to knock down everyone he has faced in a UFC Octagon, Floyd ate up his punches like they were a midnight snack.
Yeah, I know a lot of boxing fans hate Floyd, but he did boxing proud that night. Casual fans might not have appreciated it as much, but anyone who knows anything about fighting (MMA guys or boxers) saw a boxer who after a minute didn't respect his opponents power what so ever. Mayweather wasn't even avoiding a lot of shots he was simply laughing at them as he kept the pressure on.
More should have been made of the fact that McGregor (20+ pounds bigger and 11 years younger) spent the last 5 rounds running and looking for a place to hide in the ring. He was helpless in there and the feather fisted smaller guy just kept coming.
Boxers hit harder, because they have a better understanding of leveraging punches in every situation since its all they do. Also the stances are different. MMA fighters have to defend takedowns and kicks so they stand more square.
Boxers take punches better. Weak chins get weeded out in boxing and those guys make up the ranks of journeymen. Majority of MMA guys come from wrestling, bjj, judo, and other grappling backgrounds. It's conceivable some of those guys don't get punched until they are over 18 years old (Although young kids are beginning to "train mma" nowadays) so some of those weak chins can make it to the top. Also the sparring is just different in all of those disciplines. The way boxers spar is a big difference from a lot of those grappling martial arts(Except Sambo).
Thank you for answering my post gents. I 💯 agree. I only asked as to I fought a MMA fighter however he said his emphasis is more kick Boxing. Because of that I decided to fight him. He was a pretty known bad ass in San Diego. I'm a boxer a semi pro if at best, but I'm a decent amateur. I'm 48-1-45 kos. Boxing does run in my blood line, so it feels very natural for me. So anyways. I prepared myself pretty well as this guy has freaking muscle on his eyebrows lol. But it was over in 1:31 of the first round just from a double jab and a straight right... Lol. I had seen his fights against others in his discipline and took massive hits. He walked right through them. He felt slow to me and I am blessed with a great chin for my level. But darn the fight was too easy lol. I fight in a firefighter vs police officer boxing league. I'm with LAFD. Plus I have about 65 am's fights.
I pretty much knew the answer to this question, but wanted to confirm your opinions with you fine people. Thanks again.
When McGregor landed his best uppercut, Floyd took a half step back, barely blinked and then came right forward again. More than one MMA fighter was interviewed and said that when they saw that they knew McGregor had zero chance. McGregor was 20 lbs heavier, landed his best punch and the little old man wasn't phased.
Boxers are machines.
Heck yeah we are. Agreed

If you can't take a punch as a boxer you get weeded out real fast. There are some guys that are blessed with great boxing skills that can hide it for a while but it will catch up to them.
We already saw the UFC's hardest 155 pound puncher fight a 30 year old 147 pound retired champion known to be a light hitter. It was clear when the fight was over that Mayweather punched quite a bit harder than Conor and also took punches better. Put Conor in with a young, prime boxing champion his same weight like GGG or Canelo and the difference in punching power and ability to take a punch would be so wide apart as to be ridiculous. When it comes to punching power and chin the best pro boxers beat the best MMA guys their weight by a mile. That's why they are champion boxers making many times more money per fight than the best UFC fighters make.
is mcgregor and GGG same weight?

if connor walked into a fight with canelo or golovkin with his chin up in the air the way he started the first few rounds with floyd he'd have literally left the ring on a stretcher. floyd was nice enough to let him learn on the job :lol1:. notice how he tucked his chin in the later rounds, hah?
canelo would put that guy on his highlight reel almost instantly. and if he fought golovkin he'd need a year off from combat sports, and might never fight again.
charlo, lemieux, jacobs, any MW with a punch would beat that guy up viciously.
Who runs faster, a 100m sprinter, or a heptathlete?
Great analogy.
Your average boxer is always going to be more powerful of a puncher than an MMA athlete.
Bottom line is, boxing is punching, that's your weapon. MMA requires multiple weapons, and in turn, requires defenses for multiple weapons.
A boxer doesn't have to spend time training how to kick or shoot for takedowns. A Quarterback is going to be a better Quarterback if he only has to train in being a Quarterback, than someone who trains to throw, run and catch.

It would have been awesome for boxing if Connor fought GGG instead 😂
I can imagine GGG letting mcgregor hit him flush like he did Monroe and Wade and then proceeded to break him and KO him, would be awesome to watch.
Boxing for both. mma has to have more all around and they have less time to master one thing.
Even so, I was surprised by how awful Conor's punching technique was against Floyd.

The way Mc Gregor was punching any hard hitting Feather weight would have more pop than him and Mc Gregor is considered a KO puncher in the MMA world which is laughable to the boxing world
