I often hear people say that there are weight classes because of size difference. That's totally moronic. Felix Trinidad is 5'11, Mike Tyson is 5'10. They both punch the same. The reason there are weight classes is that the heavier you are, the easier it is for you to take a punch.
225 Pound Tyson can take a punch better than 160 Pound Trinidad. It's not because Tyson can 'outmuscle' or 'size' Trinidad, but because his chin is better due to size.
Anthony Joshua will beat Gennady Golevkin because Joshua's chin is 10 times better. Gennady will literally have to hit him 10 times to have the same effect as punching say Canelo once. In terms of actual power, it's the same thing. Joshua punching you in the face is the same as Mayweather if both punches were thrown at the perfect angle. You will be knocked out.
It's that the higher you go up in weights the better your chin becomes. That's it.
As if there's something new about this. Mainly casuals have vague knowledge about weight classes. What's the point?
That's why there are casuals and there are real fans.
Just like there are adults and there are toddlers.
Just like there are pets and there are owners who pet them.
Yeah, I don't see the point.
He knows more about boxing than casuals.
That's probably the point.
Just like he knows more about most things than toddlers.
Am I making sense? :pat:
ok? how come wlad's chin got better genius?
His chin didn't improve but his defense did. Corey Sanders would have KO'd any heavyweight if he would have landed the same punches that he hit Wladimir with that night. Klitschko was exhausted in the Brewster fight. He learned how to pace himself better after that. There's NO evidence that Klitschko's chin got better. :pat::smileysex
Everyone's chin gets worse. Aging doesn't make you stronger. Getting cracked in the chin doesn't make your chin better...It slowly ..or sometimes QUICKLY degrades your ability to take a shot. Like Soda just mentioned, with each concussion it becomes easier to cause physical trauma to your brain. Why do you think brawlers careers end so much earlier than defensive fighters who try to avoid punishment?
ok? how come wlad's chin got better genius?
Actually...that's physically untrue...
for instance...medical studies have shown that after suffering your first concussion, you are 3-6 times more likely to suffer another...the damage done to your brain causes both physical and chemical changes to your brain, that are irreversible...your brain is NEVER the same after suffering that kind of trauma...
And that doesn't even take into account the psychological effects that the event will have on you...
After you've been KTFO, you are certainly more susceptible to having it happen again...from both a physical and psychological standpoint...
However, I have no idea why I even bothered to type that...you think the only difference between Mike Tyson and Paulie Malignaggi is that Mike could take a punch better...
That's exactly what I was thinking. This guy is so stupid that no matter how much we try to educate him, it's completely hopeless. I think he's suffered too many concussions and as a consequence he's unable to think straight.:lol1:
chins can't get worst

Hahaha, yeah your boxing knowledge is awesome :haha:
Roy might have had a bad chin but it certainly didn't get better after each successive time he was KO'd. His chin almost certainly got worse.
chins can't get worst
1-Dude your boxing knowledge is so bad. No offense bro we both boxing fans but Roy never had a good chin. It didn't get 'worst' lmao, what a myth. Roy always had a glass jaw, his reflexes saved him from getting knocked out. The moment his reflexes left, he kept going down.
2-When did I say ALL BIGGER MEN have better chins than smaller men? I said MOST and that is the reason for weight classes.

haha. Wow. Surreal.
It's all technique.
A 240 Pound guy with bad technique(random NFL player)
will get destroy by a
140 pound guy with trained technique(say Prime Roberto Duran)
BUT that being said.
The 204 pound guy still have a BETTER chin than DURAN.
Why take it to such ridiculous extremes?
A HW who is trained to throw punches punches harder than a LW. If both had the same technique then the HW would punch much much harder.
By your logic:
-HW's dont punch harder than WW's
-HW's absorb punches better
-WW's cant KO HW's due to HW's having better chins
So why do we see HW's knocking each other out? They punch just as hard as a trained WW, and WW obviously cant KO a HW, so it must be virtually non existent to see KO's at HW.
Yet we see them all the time. Even glancing blows can leave fighters twitching on the canvas.
I cant believe im arguing about whether a HW punches harder than a f*cking WW. What is this forum...
M.Tyson STYLE of punching for one . At 5'10 and 215 /220 at his peak was also at his fastest as a pro boxer which also made him compact and able to generate maximum force through technique . ..
You STILL have to be able to punch hard , technique ALONE doesn't make you a hard puncher , to suggest weight doesn't effect punching power is nonsensical and to use GGG as reference to k.o 'ing a 220 pounder wouldn't prove Trinidad has the same power as M.Tyson and that only weight separates them .
Wait a second aren't you the one who made a thread claiming WWE was more dangerous than boxing or harder ? And didn't understand why the Klitcko brothers never fought since the Undertaker and Kane did ? Never mind , i'll leave it here ! :trink26:
The Undertaker hits the hardest ..Tombstone city ! :firedevil

1. Chins don't go away? What happened to Roy Jones chin? It got worse with each successive KO. The older a person gets, the more susceptible to KO they become. Your chin sure as hell doesn't improve after having your brain punched hundreds of times. Damage occurs every time you get hit to the head. Any doctor would tell you that.
2. Pavlick was hit relentlessly by Hopkins and he still couldn't drop him. His chin held up much better than Tarver did when he fought Hopkins. Tarver was staggering all over the ring AND Tarver was the bigger man.

No one said they did.
You said exactly that, not one time but multiple times.
You said that size won't influences punching power, but size influences only chin and ability to absorb punches.
Don't shy away from your BS. It's all there.
Hopkins hadn't had a KO in 30 years. dude can't crack a soft egg shell ok. Yet Pavlik was hurt by him......think about it.
Chin doesn't go away so your logic of 'shot' doesn't make sense.
Shot to shyt Muhammad Ali still couldn't get knocked out despite taking thunder from Holmes. Ali had a great chin after 66.
Pavlik and Paulie have decent chins but nothing near great,

Newtons second law suggests that Joshua and Floyd don't hit with the same power.
No one said they did.
But even if they hit the exact same amount of power, Joshua will destroy Floyd because his chin is 10 times better. That is the whole point.
The raeson there is weight class is because of chin.
I actually won't be surpirsed at all if Kovalev hit harder than Tyson Fury.
But Fury will destroy Sergey Kovalev because Fury won't even feel his punches,
Hopkins was hitting Pavlick all night long and he couldn't dropped him. Taylor (a guy who was KO'ing most of his opponents til he ran into Hopkins) and Edison Miranda (a known explosive puncher) were laying bombs on Pavlick. Kelly Pavlick wasn't a defensive fighter. His best defense was his chin and his offense. He had a helluva chin and a pencil neck. One of the best chins in the middleweight division.
Paulie before he was shot was taking big shots from guys like Cotto.

Neck=chin strength. Pavlik was a horrible example, dude lost to old azz Hopkins. How does he have a good chin? If he had one, he would have walked Hopkins down.
Pauli was recently KTFO.....i won't use him as a 'good example' of good chin,
