Asked over Over/Under 6 million PPV's last weekend?
Dan Rafael - Way under. No official numbers yet but my industry sources said it will not break the record. It may be slightly over 4M but it won't break the record they say. We'll have to wait and see.
arum bought dan a steak once and he's followed him around like a lost puppy ever since.
legend has it that it was actually two steaks. and he smothered them in butter.
some of you may knwo this, but i used to have media credentials. covered fights on espn, hbo, showtime, local TV, too. i legit had to step to the side when i passed dan rafael in the hallways of an arena in Connecticut. he needed a special chair because the metal folding chairs were insufficient. he started out on a metal folding chair and i swear to god i could hear it crying. rafael was a fat f#cking *******.
have i mentioned yet that i don't like the guy?

rafael is a known top rank shill.
i'll wait until we get some real, concrete numbers, verbatim, as they're made public. fairly certain showtime is obligated to release ppv numbers, as they're a holding of a publicly traded company. that used to be the case with HBO IIRC.
not gonna trust some source who fat dan buttered up with the second to last donut out of the dozen he crushed for a snack.
Well I thought it would sell more than Floyd/Manny after the 1st presser. Looks like I was wrong.
That said there were 3 mil+ illegal streams . If those were all purchases the fight would have sold close to 8 million PPV's.
yeah i said it wouldnt do aswell as people expected. when push comes to shove a lot of people wouldnt want to shell out to watch the freak show.
Yea cuz just over 4 mill happens all the time
It really wouldnt surprise me if it didnt.
I think most casuals over here at least were pretty sure it was a mismatch by the time the fight happened and most people i spoke to streamed rather than paying.
Compared to Mayweather vs Pac i think there was just as much talk about the fight, but not as much excitement to actually find out what was going to happen.
Will do ungodly numbers either way though and everyone will have made a tonne of cash.
Thet actually do release the PPV numbers. You think official PPV mumbers come from industry insiders?
HBO and Showtime have released PPV numbers many times.
And I said just shy of 1 million for Maidana.
I believe HBO stopped officially releasing PPV numbers after Canelo vs Khan, presumably because it flopped. Since then you have to rely on the word of promoters and "insiders"
Im out. This is getting ridiculous.
Neither HBO nor Showtime does publicly release the official PPV nimbers.
Insiders in the industry do.
900k & 925k is not the same as 1 million.
Do the math.

HBO and Showtime do releease their numbers, all the time.
Both Maidana fights did just shy of a million unless again you have a source to say otherwise.

Come on now. Everybody knows that neither HBO nor Showtime ever officially releases their PPV numbers.
It did 870k.

Stop it now. You clearly are a Mayweather fan boy now.
No way did neither Maidanna fight do 1 million.
Just stop it

Hate is a very strong word.
I dont have a like nor dislike for Mayweather.
Granted, he is not my favorite figther.
But never really cared about him to dislike him.
Had Mayweather fought Jeff Horn, it wouldn't even break 1 million.
So much for the draw.
Horn would still do his best numbers with Floyd. That's the point.
Only blind hate or sheer stupidity coiud stop you from seeing that.
Lol. This is what happens when you let hate take over. You stop thinking rationally.

Dan's always been a Mayweather hater who has his favorites and lets that come out in his writing. He's bitter that Floyd doesn't talk to him, plus he only really talks to promoters like Bob Arum and De La Hoya and not the fighters, so I don't know why people find him credible. It's not surprising he would come out with something like this. Obviously it broke the PPV record and lots of other records along with that. I knew it would as soon as the fight got signed. It was clear it would.
stfu with the floyd hating reverse psychology bullcrap already
How doesn't it?
Only 4 fighters in the history of the sport have been able to reach 2 million or more. All of them include Mayweather.
Oscar's biggest seller - Mayweather
Pacquaio's biggest seller - Mayweather
Canelo's biggesr seller - Mayweather
Cotto's biggest seller - Mayweather
Mosley's biggest seller - Mayweather
Hatton's biggest seller - Mayweather
There's a reoccuring theme here.

Could you please list all the non-Mayweather related fights that sold well or garnered great ratings due to 'social media' and 'the Internet'?
Thank you in advance.
I never said it sells alone. I said it helps. Which is does.
