Exactly this. Beat Paulie and make $12 Million, then fight the winner of Canelo-GGG and earn $50 Million plus as the A side. Doesn't matter if he gets KOed then. $60-70 Million for two more fights boxing is more than what he'll make in the rest of his MMA career. Has to cash in now.
Hell, 12 mill might just be the down payment for a Paulie fight. Conor has a huge fan base, that would probably sell 500k, which is really good.
If he wins that, just like you said, he takes another at least 30 mill to fight GGG-Canelo and then get out of fighting altogether
In Mma, most he can get is like 10million or a little more no?
Mentally how can he get up for that when he just got 100mill in boxing?
Uhh no, more like 3 million lol.
My prediction: Conor will take a fight then lose miserably because his head isn't innit anymore. Then he'll look to boxing for another big payday and get someone like GGG or Canelo and get blasted to the moon never to return to normalcy.
His career in combat sports is over.
Yeah he made a lot of money but he can't make anything close to that with anyone else besides Floyd. So he's going back to the UFC for sure, at least for now.
I could see him having more boxing matches in the future but he needs to build himself back up after talking all that smack then getting embarrassed.
i read UFC keeps about 70% of mcgregors purse and then the taxman takes a large portion of the rest so out of that alleged 100mill mcgregor probably walks away with 10 mil or less anyway
lmao Nobody gives a flying fu*k about Conor vs Paulie. It's a joke trying to even picture that one in my head.
Conor just failed at the boxing thing; Respectable performance and all, but there ain't no participation awards to give out around here. MMA is his passion and the sport where he makes easy work out of most of his opponents. He'll return to UFC where he'll likely be able to demand a higher paycheck (maybe something like a guarantee 20 or 25 million at least per fight) and where he'll be able to continue carving out a respectable and memorable career instead of just getting his ass beat around a boxing ring for a sh*tload of money like some of ya'll are suggesting he should.
If I was him, I'd fight Paulie next to get another good check. If he wins that, he can cash out against someone from 147-160 and retire. He'd be a fool to go back to the UFC

even in the ufc right now, there is no one that conor can fight that will do big numbers. a 3rd fight with nate diaz is the only fight i see that will have some interest.
plus i think conor burnt himself out during the press tour for the floyd fight. he used up all his bags of tricks, i dont think he'll be maybe to out do that press tour. his act got old real quick and losing to floyd in that fashion sure didnt help. i just cant picture him saying or doing anything else that will crack me up anymore, he used up all his cards.
Diaz 3 at 155lbs in December, GSP @170lbs at some point in summer 2018, Kevin Lee (as long as he wins out in the coming Lee/Ferguson/Khabib fight-off; never spent much time watching him fight, but he's got the gift of gab and can talk a fight) at some point on 2018, and ... he'd basically float around until some interesting comes up (Sage Nortcutt finds his way to a title).
Movie role/WWE/Dancing with the Stars/etc; whatever you can think of to keep McGregor's name/face in the mind of the casual sports fan.

He will go back rich and for the love of the sport. But yeah, when he gets that next check he's gonna be like "uhh Dana, can I holla at you, um there is only 1 digit before the comma on this check."

The money isn't the issue; not every fight is going to be a blockbuster, and Conor and his camp should know that.
The only issue is that Conor has now seen that back-end money, so there's a real doubt as to if he'll ever fight without back-end money, nevermind the typical PPV points, ever again.
Floyd had the monster PPV deal with Showtime to ease most concerns, but Conor was just in a fight where the fighters got a piece of every hat/T-shirt sold, of every beer or hot dog, of every sponsorship dollar, of every dollar coming in from international TV, etc.
Conor's fights will be as big as they're going to be, but he's in a spot where he's not worried about a purse anymore; stage the event, pay everyone else their purse, cover all costs related to the event, and then UFC/WME and McGregor S/E will split the back-end between the two of them.
you cant be serious????
Yes, it's actually true. McGregor vs Malignaggi would draw PPV's. I'm surprised Dana said no more boxing for his fighters. This is easy to make, there's bad blood there already, Conor had a decent showing against Floyd and according to rumors a good showing against Paulie. So yes, the fight would sell a lot. And if it took Floyd 10 rounds to stop Conor, then Paulie won't stop him at all.
And he barely suffered a bruise from what I saw.
If you do the math $60*1.6 mill (UFC 205) is $96mill, and I think half goes to cable company/network. There's $48mill left...now everyone in the undercard is grossly underpaid, 5 digits, lower end 6 digits, McGregor opponent, Alvarez, got $500k or so, McGregor got $3.5 mill total with bonus and Reebok sponsorship bonus.
http://thesportsdaily.com/mma-manifesto/ufc-205-fighter-salaries-reebok-attendance-gate/
The math from #'s taken from here^, all UFC fighters were paid out a total of $6.8mill, including McGregor. But there's $48 mill (assuming half of the $96 goes to cable/network). This means UFC pocketed $41.2 million dollars for themselves, or roughly 87% of PPV revenue. And calculating everything from the $96 mill, the fighters received a total of 7% of the PPV revenue, including the main event fighter McGregor.

Well there's that too.
I can see him being out of action for a while anyway at least. He's been in the media every day for months now and people get tired of it easily. It would probably be in everyones best business interest to take a year out, or at least 9 months or something and then build up a return and the UFC/Conor fans will probably get excited about a return if they market it right and get the right fight.
10 million is no chump change and its easy to say that but our minds dont work that way.
You just got paid like 10x what you usually make. Most people cant go back doing all that sht for so much less.
Anyone with a brain will put on 2 months of work for 5 millions ... Also pride and glory don't have to have a $$$ attached to them... But that's just me ...
$10m is still not to be sniffed at even if he made $100m v Floyd. How many active boxers are really making more than $10m a fight right now? you can probably count them on one hand.
Besides, nobody really wants to see him in a boxing ring again. There's no more interest for that outside of a Malignaggi fight due to the history. If he wants to make more money now from fighting, he has little choice but to go back to the UFC.
Even if he fought Paulie, it wouldn't generate huge money. Even if he could make $10m fighting Paulie which is extremely unlikely, why bother? if he loses to Paulie after the video saga, it would look very bad. No point in risking it for $10m when he can go back to UFC and make the same doing what he does best..
