This should be a pretty clear indication that the fight will do 4 Million Plus PPV buys and quite possibly even go past 5 Million PPV's.
A drive in. Yea thats not a bad idea. Or yea just in a random open beach or park like they do films would be viable to if you can rope it off & enclose it some kinda way so people can't watch from afar.
They were already selling tickets for Canelo vs GGG at my theater. And they were only $20 so I imagine thats the price everywhere in the US.
$20 is a great price...Golden Boy need to get Canelo-GGG in as many cinemas nationwide as possible especially in the Hispanic areas of Texas and LA.
With illegal streams becoming more popular ever year, i can see the PPV model being almost gone in the next few years and instead they might move their energies to showing Boxing at Multiplex cinemas for all the Top Boxing Fights as thats one experience the Illegal streams can't give you on a Big screen especially if they perfect Boxing in 3D.

$42 of those dollars were from me.
Did it for the "Bellator NYC" PPV too. Good way to watch the fights.
100% Agree regarding seeing Boxing in Cinemas especially with a crowd of people creating a great atmosphere.
You know what would work great for Boxing is Open Air or Drive in Cinemas that serve Alcohol and Snacks. I've even watched some movies on a Beach with a Cinema Sized screen and that was a cool experience.
Hopefully they will be going Nationwide with cinemas for the Canelo-GGG fight as that would be a fantastic fight to watch in a cinema with a large mexican audience.
i saw canelo vs chavez at a amc theater. I agree it's a dope way to watch a big fight. they didn't serve alcohol. But there is a movie theater in Atlanta that serves alcohol
it's called cinebistro at town brookhaven
Damn 3rd for Saturday. Holy f#ck. Thats really crazy.
I must say this was my first time watching a fight at a theater & I LOVED IT. Seeing boxing on a big movie screen was amazing. If I get rich one of my top ten purchases is a movie theater so I can watch every fight from Bounce to PPV's on that f#cking huge screen.
If theaters could serve beer watching at theaters would be huge & anyone who can duplicate the theater experience with boxing + alcohol will have a nice lil business going on imo.

Has a fight shown in a theater ever been in the top ten? I don't recall that if its happened.
Checked for May vs Manny but there were no official B.O figures regarding that fight and it might have just been shown in Vegas Cinemas.
Either way, to place 3rd on Saturday in all Nationwide Cinemas is amazing and 8th overall for the Weekend.
Also just to add, this was the lowest Box Office Weekend in North America for 15 Years, which many insiders have said was due to people staying at home and spending their money to watch the Mayweather vs McGregor Fight.
