How is that so many people here believe that Conor can beat Mayweather, realistically?
Manny Pacquiao, one of the stronger, faster, heavy hitter southpaw in boxing history couldn't beat Mayweather. How can Conor beat Floyd, then?
Maidana, Cotto, Mosley, Hatton, Judah and many other top boxers couldn't beat Mayweather.
WTF you think can Conor realistically do???
The only reason I'm not putting thousands on Floyd is that freak injuries happen. He could do his cruciate, he could dislocate a shoulder. There is literally no way he loses otherwise.
By now I've seen 3-4 videos of Conor sparring, hitting the bag, etc. -- and he looks ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE. Sad.
So his only chance in the sweet science is what any non-boxer would have -- a lucky punch early in the fight.
But against Mayweather that chance is very small. About the chance of another 911 or Pearl Harbor happening on a specific day.
Is there a chance that Russian nuclear missile is sent to the US, say this coming Friday the 18th? Yes, strictly speaking, it could happen. But it is so minute that it is practically 0%.
That is Conor's chance against the great Floyd Mayweather in the sweet science. Strictly speaking it's possible, but practically impossible.
Floyds only took 5-6 clean power punches in 20 year's connor will need to hit him with that amount of clean power punches in one fight to even have a chance of stopping him = not going to happen.
I question McGregor's power really. Power in MMA and power in boxing are two different things entirely and he doesn't even have elite power in MMA with 4 oz gloves on. McGregor is not turning peoples' lights out with one punch in MMA, he's stunning guys, maybe even knocking them down, but he's finishing them on the ground. On the off chance he catches Floyd with the perfect punch and Floyd is knocked off his feet for the first time in his career, Floyd will have a nice long 8 count that will equate to about 25 seconds of recovery time. McGregor hasn't shown that type of power against no chin MMA guys who are already off balance because of the way MMA fighters have to fight.
What will be funny is this, McGregor is bound to catch Mayweather with a good shot, it's going to have little effect. Mayweather has been hit square by fighters with way more power than McGregor has.

bit of a straw men perhaps? Is there anyone who seriously thinks he has a chance?
Maybe people who don't follow sports and Conor and Floyd are just names.
The only chance I would say McGregor has is he's not a traditional boxer so his entire offense might look different. From the little sparring they showed with him and Paulie, McGregor was doing everything wrong except the straight left. Paulie tried to do the shoulder roll but he didn't move his head. I'm positive Mayweather has seen the straight left from elite boxers a time or two.
Conor has a fast, hard straight left. Mayweather is 40 and has been out for two years. I give Conor a 1 in 100 puncher's chance to get lucky and win. I am 99% sure Mayweather will easily beat him and probably knock him out.
Exactly this. And even a freak lucky punch is not going to win it for him IMO, he'll have to follow up with several shots as McGregor has not demonstrated 1 punch KO power even with 4 oz gloves.

He has a chance - a punchers chance against the greatest defensive fighter of our generation.
Connor has good eyesight and a good chin. He'll need them both.
Everybody with two hands has a chance in the exact same way a bum off the street has a chance, This fight has exposed all the people who truly DKSAB, who believe connor is actually going to win and have him as the favorite. :pat:
You have to give anybody a chance by default because they have two hands. but to honestly think hes going to win and have him as a favorite is mindbogglingly retarded, If you honestly think this then you truly DKSAB. The only way connor beats floyd mayweather at boxing is if floyd gets a freak injury or he lands the luckiest punch to ever walk the face of the earth. To think anything other wise is utterly retarded.

Conor has few if any advantages in this fight. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have a chance, however remote it is.
Floyd is faster, hits harder, a better boxer, has better defense, will have better stamina, and a better chin. Conor is a little bigger and he's younger.
Personally, I think the body work Floyd does will end Conor, I think he knocks Conor down with a liver shot mid fight that Conor never recovers from.
He's been in with Emanuel Augustus who is unorthodox as you can get and still figured him out after 5. Also this:
During a 2012 interview with boxing expert Dan Rafael, Floyd Mayweather Jr. stated Augustus was the toughest opponent he had faced in his career. - Wikipedia
Conor is just different, not unorthodox.
I suppose the only thing you could say is McGregor is unorthodox. Floyd doesn't need to get out of first gear if he's in with an orthodox fighter. So one way you could look at it is Floyd has to kind of process something he really isn't used to.
The problem here is that there's a huge difference between being a world level unorthodox boxer and someone that's unorthodox that doesn't box. I think the awkwardness McGregor brings will be seen as huge flaws, rather than an awkwardness than is beneficial to him and Floyd will have a massive field day with that, but that's just my opinion.

Floyd is a defensive genius.............against fellow boxers, not MMA fighters. I think the chance that McGregor has is that Floyd can't possibly train for what McGregor is going to do or the style that he is going to bring. When the fight was first announced i thought it was a joke and no contest that Mayweather would win emphatically but the closer it gets, like all mayweather fights, the more i am buying into the hype. Connor is going to bring aggressiveness in abundance (which could also be his undoing) and a style that mayweather has never seen before. I agree that if the fight goes past 5 or 6 Floyd will win either by landslide decision or late knockout but the intriguing part will be the first 4 or so rounds to see if Floyd can work McGregor out or if McGregor can surprise Floyd and land something big.
The world awaits...........
Yes, I agree everybody has a chance and anything can happen, but I'm talking about people truly believing Conor has more chances to win that any of the top boxers Floyd fought before. I don't think that's the case.
Cuz boxing is weird sport. You can make 1 simple mistake and your opponent can knock you out with just one shot. I don't say McGregor is supreme boxer but I asume he won't be so bad at 26th August so anything can happen. We have seen a lot of surprises in this sport.
True. And it will be shameful if moneymays first mistake came from mma fighter
