How far back can you trace your interest in boxing? And what are some of your earliest memories?
For me some of my earliest memories include Frank Bruno vs. Lennox Lewis (1st October 1993) and Nigel Benn vs. Chris Eubank II (9th October 1993). I was almost 7 years old when these two took place. I also remember watching Prince Naseem's rise. I used to beg my dad to let me stay up and watch live. Otherwise he'd record them and I'd watch them first thing the next morning.
I vaguely remember watching Benn - Eubank, Naseem etc with my Dad as a kid but didn't start following boxing seriously until Scott Harrisons world title reign. The first fight i ever attended was his first world title shot in October 2002 against a fighter called Julio Pablo Chacon, been following Boxing ever since
I grew up with the sport of boxing. My uncle won Golden Gloves Light Heavyweight twice. I was around for all of Ali's fights. I was into boxing during the Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, Hearns, Hagler era as well as all of Tyson. Saw Pinklon Thomas and Holyfield fight live. And of course for all the Morales, Barrera, Prince Haseem etc contingent. Oh and I actually met Mike Tyson. We talked about his fight with Michael Spinks. I told him I watched him knock Spinks out in 45 seconds. Mike said "it was 30 seconds." I wasn't going to argue with him. Damn I'm old :)
Hopkins Eastman because a replay of it appeared on tv in uk during the day the following day. I became intrguied at Hopkins' run then made an account on boxingscene for the Taylor fight .
The first boxing match I can remember seeing was going with my dad to see the travesty that was Berbick-Ali in 1981, on closed circuit, at the Princess Theater.

70's. Wide world of sports channel 7. Had sports illustrated pics of Ali. 76 Olympic team
Drederick Tatum vs Homer Simpson. I was probably 5-7 and asked my parents to let me start boxing. They did not go for it. Remember sitting in a Mexican hotel lobby where Tyson vs Holyfield was on and my mom asked some employee to change the channel. Friends became big UFC fans back in 07 but I liked the striking aspect and started watching boxing. Wanna say the first fight I watched live was Codington vs Bika on the Contender while I was at the gym. JMM vs PAC 2 was the first I actually made a point of watching. Been a fan ever since.
Tito is one of my favorite fighters. He just happened to be part of two of the more significant bouts of a particular era. Chill, buddy.
It was all in a joking gesture, Tranquilo bro, Tranquilo.
Tito is one of my favs, not my favorite but one of my favs. Thought you didn't like him which is cool too if you that was the case, everyone has their prefence of fighters. Was just asking in a joking way. I'm not one of those crazy psycho fan boys of this forum, Lol.
Ah, I see you dislike Trinidad.
R ya Mexican by any chance? Lol

I remember Ray Mancini vs Kim Duk-Koo. I'm pretty sure I saw Duran a few times at lightweight but that was a long time ago. So it would be the late 70's.
Watched Hector Camacho in his prime with my grandpa. My grandfather hated his antics but loved his fighting spirit. I became a fan through my grandpa. Got a lil older and we wished Raging Bull together in 1996 on TV. I was hooked. My grandpa died in 1997 and he always remarked that he never saw a fighter as tough as Jake LaMotta. Been a hardcore since
Hagler vs. Leonard. They replayed it on Showtime endlessly. I think I saw it five times.
Tyson vs. Holyfield was probably the most excited and amazed I ever remember being watching a fight. To see a 25-1 underdog put on a performance like that is something that never leaves. It was a religious experience.
Trinidad vs. Vargas was heartbreaking. I knew as I was watching it that I was seeing the destruction of one of the most promising careers the sport has ever seen.
Watching Hopkins dismantle Trinidad was like watching a live action boxing version of Mozart conducting at the Estates Theater in Prague. I should have watched it wearing a tuxedo with a fine red wine and some cheese or some sh*t. They should have it on a loop at the Smithsonian.
Gatti vs. Ward I was a f*cking movie. I still can't believe it was real.
Castillo vs. Corrales I was also a movie but with a different arc. I wish I had watched it somewhere in a public setting because the atmosphere it created was transcendental. Like New Years at the stroke of midnight in Times Square times 1,000. People have said since it is the greatest fight of all time. I feel lucky I saw it live.

From 1966 onward, I recall seeing Ali's face on TV in relation to the draft and the war in Vietnam, and his conversion to Islam. As a sport, my interest crystallized with Ali-Frazier I. It was a COLOSSAL event, even in the prairies, as it offered a limited window into the issues confronting American society at the time.
Minor interest, Tyson/Holyfield in 97. real interest? 1999 ish. Barrera/Morales, Hamed, Oscar/Vargas, Mosley Tito. I remember being really interested in Rahman/Lewis. Hardcore interest? 2002 I watched a little Filipino guy upset Barrera who was a favorite of mine. I vividly remember catching Mayweather/Sosa, then soon after I watched Toney upset Jirov and I never turned back.
I'm 29 btw.
DLH?
Mang, I still remember when Tyson got knocked out by Douglas. It was all over the paper - front page and shyt... when boxing was huge.
Yeah DLH. My dad is a big fan of his.
I really didn't start watching it ALL THE TIME until 2009 May vs JMM.
Now I knew about since I was younger. Knew Tyson, Ali, Sugar Ray, all of the big names. I used to play Tyson KO all the time in Sega and I remember using Floyd Patterson alot. I remember when Roy Jones got KOd by Tarver. Remember Zab Judah being more talked about than Floyd in the early 2000s. I think one of my uncle's orded B Hop vs Tito at my house for my pops bday so boxing was always around.
I really wish I was into boxing instead of wrestling from 97-2003. It was WCW and WWF instead of WBC and WBA for me when I was young lol.
