Yup--this is what is meant by "A" side. Maidana's team should've bowed their backs when Floyd sprung this on them on the eve of the first fight. Floyd would've looked weak, and the hate would've made a future fight massive. So, it's technically maidana's team at fault here.
This is the United States of amnesia. People forget that Floyd has done tons of shady ****. Did he school Gatti? Yes. But go back and watch the first round. The ref clearly yells "stop punching", both fighters stop, and Floyd takes a full force punch at a completely unprotected Gatti. Go back and watch it again. That type of full-force, unseen punch is a game-changer at this level ("but it's pruhtek yoself at aw times, Larry", and blah, blah (Floyd knew what he was doing))
Floyd used to keep two or three fighters up in the air, and drag his selection out until less than two months before the fight date.
He knew he was giving them far less time to get ready for the biggest fight of their life.
Completely unprofessional nonsense with Marquez.
Not fighting manny in '09 when the drumbeat was loudest.
Strategically smart? Sure.
Shady as ****, and deserving of ridicule from people who prefer a fair contest? Yup.
Amen brother, those are the reasons why I won't put Floyd in top 10 of GOAT discussions. Best fighter of our era, no doubt. Ridiculously talented without question. But those sissy ass moves by him first with Marquez, then by "delaying" the fight with Pac after he was knocking guys out left and right and paying 1.5 mil to madiana.
Floyd played the fight game well knowing that 10, 15 years from now peeps will most likely forget all this, but he didn't deceive me and most educated boxing fans
Maidana got 1.5 mil to wear pillows which equaled his purse for the first fight.
1.5+1.5+5 million for rematch
Not bad for a boxer who lost to Amir Khan and Devon Alexander previously...

Damn Sir, you are absolutely correct! If you read the art of war by sun tzu floyd has applied alot of the strategies in the book.
Don't believe the hype bro. What is funny, as it will take some to sink it in, Garcia made drama for the rematch about the gloves... saying he didn't let them use the gloves "before," which he didn't complain in the rematch for a Garcia fail... Maidana used the same Powerlocks in the rematch. Only difference was Chino's logo.
So therefore, Chino agreed on both occasions about the gloves!!! Did industry defend Chino the second bout when he lost regarding MX?
I got it. For me, it was more like I found hard to believe Floyd paid 1.5m just for change of gloves. I don't care about Garcia's drama at all.
Actually iirc it was the commission that denied them.
The comission then approved a regular pair of Everlast MX gloves. And Mayweather said no anyway. Everlast brand owner said Mayweather was BSing.
I'm thinking 1.5m was the total pay, including the fee for the change of gloves. Can't believe Floyd would pay him 1.5m in addition to the agreed on purses.
He says "f*ck yea he was happy with 1.5 million dollars extra"
Now, keep in mind, if Garcia were to say something about Manny, or gaylovekin, etc...then all of you would jump all over the guy...sort of like when Roach acted like an ass before the Rios fight and in the process of trying to act like ass, got a snap kick in his chest for it...but then it was allllll Garcia's teams fault.
floyd said chino's custom gloves (the ones with the argentine flag) didn't have any padding inside :lol1: that was BS but chino wasn't allowed to use the regular MX. and is his fault right? because he was gonna have so many chances to get paid that kind of money :lol1: while floyd keeps making 30 millions a fight. yeah is his fault for taking the money doe....

Lol. The same commission that was bought by Floyd doe remember? I like how nobody mentions GBP in any of the context... how many fighters has Oscar tried to knock out Floyd?
Yeah I wonder that too.
When somebody makes a thread about it, we'll talk about it there.
Now stay on topic.
My friend, don't be suckered into easy trolling or misguided information. I'm gonna roll in on this like a pimp and explain...
1.) Custom gloves can always be suspect as it's only about the total weight of the gloves for regulation. All the parts of a glove are weighed before being assembled... it's rather easy to focus on the distribution of weight.
2.) Robert Garcia comes off as super shady for exaggerating the scene where they're ''punching'' in the glove to test the padding as if that were Kovalev style hitting the pavement or a wall...
3.) Since Garcia illustrates that as being unfair, as if 2-3 guys in the original video testing the pressure of the padding would actually break in the glove... in front of industry right there and then... FFS cmon..lol
4.) Why didn't Garcia, because he felt that scene as ''suspect'' didn't cause a scene there or at least say something as to not break in the gloves? He just stood quiet because the reality is he doesn't know if one of Chino's people or someone in GBP had something to do with the custom padding... This is why Robert rather stay quiet which is unusual for a trainer defending his fighter for a major title fight..
5.) If Garcia was completely confused about the situation or mad about the accusation he could've taken Floyd's gloves there and made a scene too that they were not equally distributed as well, but he didn't. Therefore, Garcia would just make a case that it's all subjective and a plot, but he didn't use that the same thing against Floyd's Grant gloves. Garcia coming off as shady...
6.) Lastly, Robert Garcia and Ellerbe were playing hardball with bluffs or else no fight. There's no way Floyd would cancel a bout in Vegas... even affiliates at the MGM wouldn't like that and would ruin the integrity of the entire promotion. If Floyd would cancel the fight he would lose a big percentage of his following coming to Vegas again since nobody wants to think the possibility of a cancelled MAJOR Title Fight.
7.) Even a glove maker was on hand at the glove selection and said Chino's gloves were suspect, Garcia stayed quiet..
8.) So as Robert says it would take more than 750K to commence the fight, since Robert wasn't walking out with Chino, therefore cancelled. Garcia himself said in this video ''it's his responsibility to negotiate'' in the best interest for his camp and Chino. So the only way to fight was to continue ''negotiating'' as Robert said, and thus it took 1.5 million to have Robert and Chino to agree WITH THE FIGHT, not necessarily the other gloves that GBP had on hand as alternates, the black ones shown, Everlast Pro Powerlocks.
The commision approved the gloves. Team Mayweather did not. It really is that simple.
