Miguel Cotto is overrated and has had the easiest way to title shots the past 20 yrs.

Just saw on BoxRec that his fight with Kamegai is for the vacant WBO title... what? He last fought in 2015 - and is fighting Kamegai whos best career performance is a draw and a win against a shot to **** Jesus Soto Karass. First of, let me just say I have been one of his biggest fans up until after the Mayweather fight. He has now lost me because of his diva behavior (leaving interviews in fights he clearly lost like the Trout, Mayweather and Alvarez fights..) Every title he ever won has been vacant, except the Martinez fight and we all know that story. His best title wins are a crippled Martinez back in 2014, 3 years ago, Shane Mosley - 10 years ago which is probably his best win to date. I mean, does anyone even rate this guy anymore? It's hard to be a boxing fan, so many other fighters deserve to get a shot at the title but Cotto is handed shot after shot just because of his name.

You have to look at who he beat. He beat undefeated Paulie and Torres who both went on to win belts right after Cotto left the division. Then he beat undefeated Quintana who went on to beat Paul Williams his next fight or two after. He beat Clottey who was stripped of the IBF belt before that. So yeah he was gifted a vacant belt against Jennings and possibly Kamaegi, but don't act like he didn't beat champions.

lol, I kinda figured. I know you were provoked. But I actually watch Cotto film to learn tips for training. I think he has the best mix of athleticism and cajones of current boxers. He was best at 140 for me.

Cotto was like Clyde Drexler in the Jordan era or Paul George in the LeBron era......a very good fighter that will always make the Elite work as hard as they can but not on that ridiculous level only a few reach.... Good analogy, agreed.

Thanks, my bad.. And for the record, I'm not saying he isn't good, a HOFer or exciting. I'm saying that I think a lot of his best wins are not that great, I'm saying he has lost his biggest fights. Most of all I'm saying that his behavior in defeat has dissapointed me and this is why I cant be a fan of his. I like his style but I cant support a man who behaves like that. Look at Klitschko in defeat - respectful. Look at Pacquiao - respectful (except the socks excuse...). Says the guy with Tyson in his av, who took the honorable way out of boxing.... :pat:

I would of loved to see Cotto vs Hatton or Cotto vs kosta tszyu. I think they were the only ones he did not fight. Vivian Harris i think was calling him out but no $ there. That's because Harris got slept by Carlos Maussa, not because of money.

dont see anyone calling cotto an atg or tbe..so i dont get how the guy can call him overrated..cotto is what he is..a blue color no none sense fighter who was on the upper level in boxing...he was a a class fighter who only losses come from 2 elite once in a life time fighters and the 2 world class fighters in margo and trout and a young phenom in canelo.....how the hell is cotto overrated? Nazeem has already stated that Tito did NOT have illegal wraps... NYC and Vegas have different rules as to how the hands are wrapped. He Beat Margo Mallinaggi Mosley Martinez. Judah Clottey Quintana not exactly anything to laugh at Would any of those fighters beat any of the fighters today? I love Mosley but he was overrated. Martinez was b level, Judah was b level, clottey would be a journey man in any other era, Mallanagi had potential but lost every fight he was suppose to win, Quintana just like clottey, and Margo was a bum. This generation of fighters are levels above those guys.

Pretty sure the Mosley fight wasn't dude's first time trying to cheat. Why would he just try to cheat against Mosley a guy Cotto beat already and not Cotto. That doesn't make any sense.
