Did Pac even train for the fight, he looked like garbage. Pac gave up his ring generalship in the first round! Pac threw no jabs, no body punches, he didnt set up anything all night..all he did was react to what Horn was doing and tried to land the left.
I wouldn't even call Manny Horn's biggest threat in that fight, it was clearly the glare of sunlight, heat, and fatigue! Manny fought the championship rounds, 10, 11, 12 horribly, was he even trying to win? Don't seem like it to me!
The way I see it Manny loss the first half of the fight and even got hurt in the 6th. Horn fatigued in the middle rounds and was on the verge of being stopped but then went on to win the championship rounds!
Roach said prior to the fight that Pac looked bad. Congressman job, a million hangers on, and age will do that to you.
He'd probably win an A rematch, but hes most likely done. Imo to carry on and look better then his last showing, he'd need to quit his day job and get rid of all his lackies. Which lets be honest isnt going to happen.
Prob either retires or has a rematch and retires.
No he just needs to retire....there is nothing out there for him but brutal beatings...Spence, Thurman, Crawford, Brook, Porter, etc..
I don't even think Pacquiao's biggest fans are disputing that he looked really bad.
naw they are just posting massive threads belittling Floyd or trying to look for a moral victory in this disaster

You right, Pac has no "slickness" ... that he is still fighting physical bouts at 38 is ridiculous. You'd think they'd teach the guy how to hold, clinch, attack the body, slow down the pace, protect himself from fouls or how to foul himself. Watching Pac simply "react" to Jeff Horn rather than dictate the action is why he loss. You will never see Floyd "react" in a fight, he always dictates from round 1 to 12
Roy Jones was way worse than pac though in that aspect. Pac relies on physical attributes too but i think he still has decent defense to protect himself during his past prime years. While roy ended up getting ktfo left and right.
The only few rounds floyd got into the mix was against hatton and maidana, he dictated the pace on 70 % of those fights but these bulldogs sometimes refuse to go with it.
Floyd makes it a boxing game every time and he wins easily in that department.
Prime pacquiao also always imposes his pace, and that was the high speed attack pace. Now he just doesn't have the energy for that.
Yes he did. One of the biggest errors of team pac is they still want pac to that blitzing all angle offense when clearly he doesnt have the attributes to do that for the past few years.
He doenst have the energy, nor the chin for that anymore.
They didnt evolve their man's.
They still fighting a physical fight even at 38.

Manny was trying to load up on one shot..no combos nothing
All Pac was trying to land is the homerun and he never found it. Yet they want to argue that he won when he did nothing consistent the whole fight but get backed up, put on the ropes and forced to cover up!
IMO he looked like shit in the 3rd Bradley fight and the Vargas fight. He looked really, really bad last night, probably his worst performance in the boxing ring. His timing was off and he was huffing and puffing in the championship rounds. He needs to retire NOW.
Yep. Especially the Vargas fight. I haven't rated him as a top fighter since the Floyd fight with good reason.

]lets not forget Manny really should be fighting at 135 and has to eat his way to 146.
.
This is the truth. Manny has no business fighting at 147 and giving up size advantages anymore.

Also, strength and conditioning doesnt seem to be a priority anymore with him after Alex Ariza was fired.
He needs some of those shakes.
Yeah no doubt
Much like round 10 of Pac-Algieri, round 10 of this fight was disappointing. In both cases Pac put a hurting on his opponent in the previous round and then came out and looked docile.
He just not the same no mo :(
He was probably gassed after that. A lot of offense and he couldn't stop him right there.
Fighters like him once they lose even a half a step they're never the same fighter. His style requires all of it to be effective. At some point it starts going downhill. He can linger from here, not sure how it will go.
jeffrey hornet will make anyone look bad. we should be praising pac for surviving that 12 roudn beat down against the hornet.
Pacquaio looked old, frail, haggard, skinny.
I'm still surprised he survived the onslaught from a young healthy lion.

I'm surprised the "size is everything" forum isn't mentioning that Manny gave away a huge size advantage and that how Horn won!
The kid said it right after the fight that he controlled the distance and he did!
When you watch a sloppy looking bout and the accuracy isn't very good it makes everything thats going on look bad! Well this kid did a great job at turning Manny, holding him and leaning on him. He roughed him up and got respect from Manny as the fight moved on.
This kid isn't going to challenge Spence but the rest of the welters just might be in for an awkward night with by todays standards a "big welter".
5' 91/2" and he struggled to make 147 so Manny was probably in with a 165-68lb opponent. I doubt Pac was 153lbs.
This kid style against Pacman screwed Pac up and it showed.
Now he is 38 yrs old and with 65+ bouts he's far from prime but he was in shape because the kids strength and the heat in the stadium was a factor.
Not easy "picking up the pennies" when your old, it hurts!
Ray
Good point. Horn was a "Big Welter" in there. Pac was being wrestled under the heat of the sun by a bigger man. Horn was awkward in his movements, and caused a lot of fouls when they got close, resulting to Pac having a hard time timing him and couldn't throw combinations as a result of Horn's awkward style.
I think Pacquiao's problem is his concentration. He was throwing punches they just weren't landing like they did in the 9th. Once he saw them landing (in the 9th) he poured it on. He wouldn't be able maintain that pace but if he was connecting more often in the previous rounds he wouldn't need that kind of output in the the 9th.
We also have to give it up to Horn. He had plenty of opportunities to get overwhelmed by the moment but he kept his composure and kept the fight close. He didn't win but you have to blame the judges for that.
I absolutely agree, good post.
I just don't think he has the stamina any longer to maintain the kind of effort he put forth In the 9th round.

He looked like he trained to fight a school teacher named Jeff Horn. He overlooked Horn. But he still beat him
Lol...just doesn't get any truer than that does it
