Seriously, just watched the fight now and thought Horn won it clean. I dunno how many of you were sober but watch it without the influence of drugs and friends and Horn won.
Horn won rounds 1 2 4 5 6 7 12
Pac won rounds 3 8 9 10 11
I think the 12th could have been given as a 10-10 but I thought Horns final salvo won it for him.
Close, competitive, FUN fight but the right man won and the guy looked good doing it.
It's Pacquiao, so his fans will always call it a robbery when he loses. Some of them even thought the the one sided Mayweather fight when he won 3 rounds at the most. When Marquez KO'd him they weren't even willing to accept that as a real loss. So i'm not surprised. If Horn got that decision against someone else at WW, hardly anyone would be bothered. But Pacquiao, you're not allowed a close win or any win against him, LOL. He's too beloved by the media/fans.
Please watch it, it's like an out of body experience, Atlas is swimming in salt water right next to Pac
LOL
Having said that, salt water is proven therapy and is often used to help race horses gain leg strength/heel from leg injuries. How it works, I have no idea but then again there are an umber of therapies with that quality.
If you think Horn won this.....

quite old now but what rounds did you give Pacquiao?
I'm not gonna lie I thought it would've been pretty funny if Horn won and I was kinda rooting for him every round and I would get exited when he managed to land or smother Pacquiao. Even with that bias, I couldn't give Horn more than 4 rounds. It was a ballsy performance but not enough to beat Pacquiao.
I put my tin foil hat for this one, I think Arum saw that the fight was damn good, better than expected and saw a lucrative opportunity. Pulled some strings and got Horn that W. Next time will be on PPV and people will definitely pay to see it. Pac doesn't have any other options aside from Crawford, there's no way Arum makes a fight vs Thurman/Spence happen. So yeah milk that cow dry Bob.
I gave Horn rounds 1, 4, 7, 10, 11, and 12 for the draw. There were about 8 rounds I saw that could have gone either way.
I gave Horn round 2 and 5 not 11, so he totaled 7 rounds on my card but you're right, a couple of those closer rounds could have gone 10-10 or to Pac, making it 6-6.
LOL at bashing Deion Sanders or other celebrities cause they called it for Pacquiao. They are boxing fans just like youguys are, casual fan or hardcore.
You guys seen Lennox Lewis tweet?
Teddy Atlas is not the biggest fan of Pac and have been called a Pac hater. So, you know there is something wrong with the decision when Atlas gets upset and vocal about the Horn decision. He has done this in ESPN, not his first time.
If you want to call this fight a closed fight, fine. But it is not a gone either way decision. This fight is a closed fight with a clear winner and it is not the hometown fighter.
The 9th round that Teddy Atlas said he said he scored it 10-8 for Pac(or he said it could have been a 10-8). Why you guys surprised about that. There are rounds that that has been scored 10-8 before, the loser didn't do much and winner keeps attacking and landing(No, i am not gonna seach for it).
And compubox is wrong on the stats when it comes to Pac fighs.
Have fun replying.
Honestly, I don't care about that stuff but actually show us the roundsy ou gave for each fighter.
Btw I can understand why some may believe round 9 was a 10-8 round BUT in reality, without a KD, those types of rounds have to be a lot more dominant. You cant forget how even the round started off.
Atlas called it very well imo. After rewatching it, I noticed Horn was coming forward but missing most of his shots. He barely landed cleanly. It was mostly glove, elbow or air.
The only thing from Horn that damaged Pac were the 2 cuts caused by headbutts.
Speaking of this, Horn was dirty as f**k in this fight. He was headlocking Pac the whole night. And not a la Ward-Kovalev where Ward was coming in forward with his head low and Kov would hold him. No, Horn was the one using his height advantage and would throw a hook leaning forward to catch Pac's neck, and then actually lean down on him. It was pathetic from Horn.
This was a blatant robbery that makes the Kovalev-Ward 1 decision look legit.
Again, post the rounds you scored.

so the aim of this thread has gone unfulfilled, can people actually post the rounds they had for either guy? That's kinda what I was going for with my first post

I watched the ESPN feed and the Box Nation one.
BoxNation is a joke. SERIOUSLY. They are casuals and don't know how to score. They should be calling rugby matches.
After rewatching, I now have it more closer to how atlas called it.
it wasn't drugs and booze, it was the american feed.
i still am holding out until i get a better feed to watch the fight, but i felt horn did enough to make a decision for him reasonable. from what i am hearing atlas, bradley, tessitore were all calling this a robbery.
most of the guys on this forum don't really score fights if they're close, they just depend on what somebody else is telling them in regards to which punches are landing and which are more effective.
pacquiao looked 60 years old out there. he's been looking past prime for 5+ years now, but FFS they have got to realize that this truly is the end. you lost to jeff horn. even if it was a close fight htat didn't go your way on the cards FFS IT'S JEFF HORN AND YOU USE TO BE MANNY PACQUIAO, AN ALL TIME GREAT!
****!
boxing pisses me off :lol1:
so the aim of this thread has gone unfulfilled, can people actually post the rounds they had for either guy? That's kinda what I was going for with my first post
Cant remember exactly, think 4-2 Horn after 6. 5-4 Horn after 9th. 10th and 12th to Horn
so the aim of this thread has gone unfulfilled, can people actually post the rounds they had for either guy? That's kinda what I was going for with my first post
Aggression - Horn was more aggressive. Was it effective? Largely it was because the aim of aggression is to push your opponent back and stop him from getting off. Pac threw less and landed less, regardless of the idiotic punch stats. ANyone with two eyes watching the fight could see Pac was gun shy.
the rounds in which Pac was more aggresive, pushed Horn back ,stopped him from landing and even hurt him, Pac won but those were 4, maybe 5.
Defence - Pac looked to be the better guy in this category but he still got caught often, beautiful right hands landed in almost every round.
Ring Generalship - Can't overlook Horn for this either. He dictated the terms of the fight, from where it took place to how many punches were thrown and if Pac backed off or came forward. Pac was positively mauled into surrendering all of those aspects although he showed astute boxing knowledge in rounds 3 and 8 where he allwoed Horn to walk onto punches but that did not happen enough.
Clean and Hard punches - Pac landed hard, he landed clean. Horn landed hard, he landed clean although at a lower accuracy but that is a symptom of him simply throwing more.
Horn wins 2 of the 4 categories hands down in at least 6 or 7 sounds, edges it in another category.
Again, please dont counter that with "yeah but punch stats" because thats just a guy presisng a button. If you are an honest individual, you know who was the more active fighter throughout.
I get that Horn was more active, but activity isn't what boxing is scored on. Activity is certainly exciting and looks good to the naked eye, but its all flash and no substance. You have to base scores off of what the rules of boxing goes by. The winner of a round is based on 3 categories. They're effective aggression, defence and ring generalship.
Aggression isn't what fights are scored on. They're scored on EFFECTIVE aggression. Aggression and effective aggression are two completely different things. Effective aggression means that you're throwing good punches in scoring areas. I saw Manny winning in this department.
Defense - Compare their faces, and number of shots blocked, and Pac wins this, although Pac's face was bloodier, that blood was coming from two head buts so it doesnt count.
Ring generalship - Manny was using craft to back up and land clear and clean punches in scoring areas, Horn was wrestling and mauling landing punches on arms and elbows, although some on scoring areas - I call this one a draw because while Horn was moving forward, you're not supposed to score based on wrestling moves or shoves.
Clean punches - Effective aggression and clean punches is basically the same thing.
So Manny was winning on 2 of 3 categories most of the way IMO.
lol ,you listed categories and twisted it the way you want it,not the way it should....no such category as aggression, just effective aggression otherwise rios, provo would own that department all the time despite eating more punches on their way in and countered like horn did....and there's really no case for horn on defense and clean punching esp when stats corroborated with the robbery claim..and even if we give horn the other 2 you are claiming ,neither outweigh clean punching so sorry but this is how not to score a fight!!!
I mentioned the effective part, jsu tforgot to type it up at the start.
Now can you counter the points or not?
The fight was great, I think ESPN should have advised Atlas and Stephen A Smith to tone it down and just ride with Horn, they ruined it for boxing with their emotional outrage. They should have just praised Horn but instead they ruined the debut of a big event on ESPN boxing by their anger.
Im shocked that Teddy actually took Mannys side, the only real Pacquiao hater is that fool Kevin Iole on Yahoo, everytime Pacquiao fights he talks down on it, this fight he insulted it and said he wasnt impressed this moron keeps expecting Pacquiao to knock out everyone wtf? you dont knock out top level guys and bigger guys that easy, I knew Horn was going to be close to 170 on fight night, he already said he walks around well over 175 and I knew Horn would be trouble for an aging offensive fighter but Manny impressed me I thought he would quit after those two deep head butt cuts from the clash of heads.
Manny gassed in the 9th round and was tired, that grueling weather though, that fight was fun for real. A lot of people enjoyed it
Im surprised this many people even watched it, They said Time square in new york was jam packed with people who watched that fight on the big screens and the bars, and they were crying robbery and insulting boxing saying its dead and UFC was the king.
This was taken in new york right after the Pac Horn fight while people were leaving the bars after the decision
Thats what ticks me off UFC has some bad robberies but nobody says UFC does it again or **** ufc always with boxing they blame boxing.Hectari, I'm gonna have to give you your props and tip my hat to you man. I didn't believe this guy had so much as a snow ball's chance in Hell of winning this fight but boy was I wrong. You called it accurately. I badly underestimated the dedication, focus, heart and disciplined of Jeff Horn. The man not only showed up but actually showed up to win. He really surprised me. He took the fight to Manny backed him several times and even buzzed up on a few occasions.
Yeah like others said, scoring this fight 117-111 in favor of Horn is what makes this a robbery.
I thought it was a close fight where potentially Horn could've barely scraped a victory, but to have Horn winning by that large of a margin is total bull****.
No, while it wasn't a robbery; Still the wrong the guy won. In my opinion, it was a close but clear decision victory for Manny Pacquiao. 117-111 for Horn was absurd.
Boxing scoring is too subjective. Judges should be required to explain why they score each round the way they do. Or close results should go up for review to a larger panel of judges. Or fights should go 15 rounds.
