If Lomachenko passes on this opportunity to prove himself against the best (when the cards are stacked in his favor to boot) he's going to lose a lot support... especially if he goes on to fight subpar opposition until he can land a big fight at a higher weight.
He has an opportunity now to prove he's a top p4p fighter, to make a historic fight for all the fans, to add to his legacy, and to test skills in way that will bring out the very best of him.
Lomachenko will simply never have another opportunity to fight another fighter as skilled as Rigo (and vice versa)
I wonder how Loma feels that Arum has so little confidence in him to beat Rigo... Your promoter doesn't even think your the best...
Good point.
Rigo is desperately trying to fix his mistake for 2 years now. He really want this money fight and he would be extremely happy with even less than 750$ which were offered to Salido.
But Loma is afraid to push asking Bob Arum to give him this fight. And Arum is by no means make such a risky fight by himself, only if he is pushed real hard.
So yeah, at some point Loma is ducking Rigo now. Say whatever you say. And Tank Davis and Salido both ducking Loma. Box is **** with all these multiple champion organizations and no champ can be in rates of another organization type of ducking.
Neither side wants the fight.
Rigo is too small and wants to stay at 122.
Arum doesn't want to take an unnecessary risk with little to no reward
Both sides are bluffing
No he won't. Rigo has proven on thing in his career. He's impossible to negotiate with. Yeah, he pulled a Lara stunt and talked sh1t on Twitter. Cool.
That doesn't mean that he didn't ask for 3m in order to justify going to 130. First time fight fell through because rigo wanted more money and they couldn't agree on weight. There's nothing that suggests same thing won't happen again.
It was too late to make this fight in August, let's see if they can come to an agreement for the fall or winter.

Lomachenko only has 100 fans, so how many can he realistically lose?
I just hope they do talk because im telling you right now hes not getting the 500k anymore hes getting a much lower offer maybe 200-300k if hes lucky and if Rigo wont except thats not on Loma.
I think he is bluffing. He has shown no sign of wanting big fights. He had his chance at Loma at 126, but for the last two years he has been calling for catch weights. Difficult to take a guy serious who has been bluffing for two years now.
It was Loma who was bluffing when he dared Rigo to fight at 130, never imagining that Rigo would agree.
You're right about him stalling his career but now he's calling out the biggest challenge of his career. There's no evidence he's going to price himself. Unless you think asking to get paid is pricing himself out. Btw, I think Lomachenko beats him but at least he seems willing to fight this time.

Am I wrong though? With regard to Rigo. Lets face it, Rigo stalled his own career and now he sees a sense of urgency as he gets older and still hasn't made a big money fight. He did it to himself.

Here is the reason why Lomachenko won't lose any fans. His fans will blame the other guy and the excuse will always be he priced himself out of the fight.

Not into the details , but no matter what ppl here believe , you dont just open a mail and see an offer , you agree on both sides wanting the fight and then you get an offer (from the side that started the talks ,but not always) , so if Loma is not on board and not agreeing , what you want rigo team to do ? send spam mails with offers ? it doesnt work like that , what needs to happen is Loma`s teams says lets do it , show us what you got and then they will send the base line offer on which negotiations will proceed.
Also no one is whining , just pointing to the fact that we wont get another chance to see both fighters in the ring , Rigo is almost done and Loma is going up in weight.
What do you base all that on?
Rigo will price himself out, and then will have only himself to blame. Loma won't be losing any fans for not fighting a guy that most casuals have never heard of before.

Why would you even put this on Lomachenko when Rigo was the one who was not happy with getting $500K that was offered 2 years ago, which was the same amount Loma was offered?
The worry here is about things that have changed since. Both fighters don't have the same market value anymore as Loma is now getting $1 million per fight regardless of who he fights. You can't say the same thing with Rigo.
Point is Rigo had no excuse to avoid the fight in 2015. The extra money he demanded simply wasn't there. I doubt if it is now knowing that both fighters are not exactly box office attractions.
The educated fans, who makes up the majority of Loma's fanbase, who understand that Rigo walked away from the last negotiation despite being offered $500K, will know who was at fault.
The naturally lobotomized, who fail to do any research, who decide to stick their heads in the sand will likely not be fond of Loma.
But why would you want those fans?
Nice logic: fight fell through before because of money... therefor it's perfectly acceptable that Loma never again attempts to make the fight happen... very "educated" perspective...

Lomachenko probably has more casual fans than Rigo, but the bulk of Loma's fans are very similar to Rigo's (people that appreciate the art of boxing)... So Loma's fan base will take a big hit if avoids a fight with Rigo.
