I'm afraid the one thing predictable about GGG is his jab although it's his best weapon in many fights.
However Canelo has a very fast pull-counter that Jacbs and lemiuex didn't have.

This could be interesting.
Right. But Golovkin fights NOTHING like Floyd, Lara, Trout, or Khan. Those are speed fighters who like to move. Golovkin is not fast - at all - and only moves forward/cuts off the ring.
Making any type of comparison between Canelo's performance in those fights and versus Gennady is stupid as shit because the fights won't look similar AT ALL.
If you want to know what Canelo will look like on fight night check his fights against Kirkland or Angulo. Obviously those guys aren't Gennady and Gennady brings more to the table, but Canelo is likely to fight more in that style than was the case for Floyd/Lara/Trout/or Khan.
His feet are much faster than you think. He's faster than canelo with movement. You don't win a silver medal being slow. Also golovkin is a much more skilled fighter than trout and lara.
The problem is golovkin moves back as he's throwing the jab making it impossible to counter. He'll throw the jab and take a step back while using a shoulder roll at the same time. Against lemeiux, he never stood squared up. He was at angle throwing the jab and moving. Chavez jr was squared up right in front of canelo.
I think key will be enough power from canelo to keep ggg decent, if Canlo has enough pop he'll get the decision, if ggg doen't feel the power, he'll run over canelo and probably stops him
What I see there is the opportunity for someone with faster hands and better accuracy to counter. He left himself wide open and almost got caught. If that was Canelo throwing the left hook Rubio did I have no doubt it would have landed.
it would've hit the crown and slid down the face. look at the angle of his head position.
That's Canelo's key to victory in a nutshell. He needs to neutralize GGG's jab and using pull and slip counters is one way in which he can do that.
But what makes GGG so great is that he has a diversified offensive attack and he's good at setting traps and is an extremely good counter puncher especially for a come forward fighter.
Look at how he disguises this uppercut versus Rubio

There is much more to GGG than power and chin. Learn the game fellas.

Your right he disguises the uppercut well and it lands hard. Canelo is going to be on the receiving end of some of those.
I've been favoring Canelo for quite some time but I don't think people give Golovkin enough credit here, Golovkin doesn't jab squared up, he keeps his chin tucked whilst sliding right
Agree with this. I would love to see Canelo be competitive in this fight. I want him to come out and blast Golovkin. I just don't see anyone at 160 beating Golovkin. He's too powerful, has a granite chin and his defense and boxing skills are way underrated. He typically makes mincemeat of his opponents. Yes his competition (Brook, Jacobs) has improved but he ended Brook and beat Jacobs unanimously. Jacobs was the only one who could hang in there with him for 12 rounds. I think and hope Canelo can compete but IMO Golovkin will beat him as well.
I've been favoring Canelo for quite some time but I don't think people give Golovkin enough credit here, Golovkin doesn't jab squared up, he keeps his chin tucked whilst sliding left. I'm picking Canelo to win but it won't have a damn thing to do with the pullcounter, which his is decent at best.
But he didn't hurt Cotto with it, so I don't see it troubling GGG.
Then you throw in all the times cotto punched him in the face with the jb opposed to being countered lol. He's not gonna counter every jab. The was still cottos best weapon in that fight. A short small bloated cotto.
Lol that gif is hilarious, chavez threw that jab and stood there like a counter was the last thing he waz expecting. Completely spazzed when it dawned on him.
If Canelo can be that quick to avoid Golovkin's jab and counter it could get interesting. We'll see.
If he is quick enough to pull it vs Cotto ,he is quick enough for GGG no daubt
Golovkin is not a single trick pony.. he throws a jab & brings his right hand in front of him to catch counter rights.. of course Canelo's best chance is counter shots but Golovkin varies his jab speed & position making it difficult to land the same shot twice..
He could well have some success with it early which may make Golovkin vary his avenues of attack. I think Golovkin has a great many more options than Jr quite aside from which GGGs jab is a far better disguised and varied tool.
We will have to wait and see I think. If Canelo can catch Golovkin with something that smarts a few times early to make him think twice about the jab it will change the texture of the fight considerably I think, but I'm thinking Golovkin will be expecting the pull counter and will work to draw it with feints... it should make for an interesting dynamic.
That's what makes it interesting. GGG isn't like Kovalev who is more of a jab-straight guy and if you neutralize the jab, you negate his offense. Golovkin has a much more varied offensive attack.
the pull is what makes the punch whiff.
then counter. Canelo's pull counter is pretty fast.
he pulled it off against Cotto.
If Canelo can be that quick to avoid Golovkin's jab and counter it could get interesting. We'll see.
