next saturday Brian Castaño fights Michel Soro in france. that's our biggest hope. imo he has a lot of potential.
i actually love the fighters from that part of the world. i will have to check him out..........
Depends on the division and the amount of television coverage.
I still think the sport is still a mixed bag
yeah pretty much
Divisions without top American fighters have a harder time attracting large American attention, which might skew less informed fans' perception of how Americans are doing in the sport.
But you consider it across all divisions and Americans are still not doing nearly as well as they once were.
Not seeing it. There is still a decline and as another poster mentioned, one-third as many Americans on the p4p list as a decade or two ago.
I think there was such a long period of total desolation in American boxing that people are going gaga over the slightest thing.
It's not that big of a deal. Hell I don't even think I'd watch boxing if it was still just domestic rivalries and 'mysterious' overseas guys nobody ever got around to fighting. Those were lame days.
and what the hell happened to Argentina. sergio, lucas, maidana. no other fighters sprung out. chaves was very underrated and at the top of to chart but went un noticed. argentina was producing heavy hitters too.

HBO can hype these foreign fighters but they can't make them great fighters. You are absolutely right. They will never catch on with the American viewing audience. HBO has unsuccessfully made futile attempts with this since the Klitschko boys and they never became popular, mainstream, crossover stars in the U.S. They were forced to pack up and go back to Germany.
The only division where Americans are 'dominating' are 140 and 147, both fairly weak divisions
Only two American fighters who are noteworthy are Ward and Crawford. Include Mayweather if you want, but he's cashing out like Pacquiao
Just goes to show how boxing is a global sport
dominating divisions is turd logic.
you have to break it down by specifics because u could have one division where it all around just sucks.
mexico
canelo
estrada
chavez jr.?
russia
kovalov
artur beterbiev
?
ukrane
wlad
golovkin

*i would definitely have Mikey Garcia in there. Its a pretty poor list all round actually, but only Garcia missing out of US boxers imo.
American boxing isnt and never was dead, but times have definitely changed this century.

You can add 154 to that. Outside that, the lions share of top contenders/belt holders across all divisions aren't american.
