GGG is over hyped but Canelo is something decent If Canelo wins just remember this guy is about 7 years younger than ward. He's only ever lost to floyd when he was 22. Hmm well September is a long time to wait, Ward should take p4p #1 now, but by September people may be ready to anoint the winner of GGG Canelo #1, just as a matter of being swept up in the hype. I'm sure Golovkin could blast Canelo out in one and Teddy Atlas would still find a reason to not even put him in the top 10, lol.

I will probably still have Ward #1, we'll see, but the winner of this fight will have a better case for Fighter of the Year

Ward should be #1 in everyone list, even when Canelo wins. GGG shouldn't be sniffing the top 5 now, but he's a media darling that even with his weak resume, he's on top.

Don't be so sure. If Canelo wins, there is a good chance he becomes Ring Magazine P4P #1. Ring Mag is owned by Golden Boy Promotions. Besides, defeating GGG is a bigger win than beating Kovalev.

I think Canelo would be the #1 guy on ESPN if he wins. He already got #1 vote from Joe Cortez and Bernard Osuna (not surprisingly) so if he beats GGG who is #1 its very likely the guys voting GGG#1 vote Canelo #1. I am sure Ring, owned by ODH, will find a way to have Canelo #1 as well. I will check TRBR's list since its at least credible. I thought Kovalev might have edged the first one. Canelo never rematched Lara. Golovkin would still have to rematch Jacobs. I think Kov won the first fight, and Ward did get a gift. I wouldn't call it a robbery, though, if that makes sense. The second fight was a clear Ward win, with the last few seconds being really ugly. I don't think GGG will give Jacobs a rematch. The first fight was too close. I scored a draw if not for the knockdown

Ward's been #1 for quite sometime already... No he really hasn't his inactivity was his killer. After The tourney he def would have been. But Beating the crap out of Kovalev solidified it.
