Nah, the second fight was exactly as the end of the first one. Kovalev proved that he cant adjust. He third fight would be exactly the same. Not interested, thank you.
Kovalev should move up to Cruiserweight and fight a couple of light touches to acclimate.
Later on down the line perhaps a 3rd fight can be made if Kovalev does reasonably well at Cruiserweight.
Right now both Ward and Kovalev should move forward and depending on circumstances in the future, they may be able to revisit the option of a 3rd fight, but right now no.
I should have voted yes. But not because I did not feel that Ward was demonstrably the better boxer, but because the win was controversial and I would love to see him beat Kov's ass in a decisive enough manner where people can't complain.
I bet it would be a bit hard to sell such a fight, even if it makes sense to make, so I doubt we can expect it to come immediately. Unless the NSAC were to make a bit of a surprising ruling in turning over the TKO to a NC that is.
I only said yes because it didn't feel right how this fight ended. Kovalev looked to be dwindling down the last few rounds, so he was probably doomed to a defeat, although it's unfair to ever count a fighter out (Leonard vs Hearne, Corrales vs Castillo). He threw a lot more punches compared to the fight before, which he couldn't handle condition wise. Dude needs better conditioning. Yes, Ward worked his bodt well, but still.
Edit: I should have read the poll choices more clearly. I'd switch my vote to "No"
I wasn't really too interested in the 2nd one either but was amused by all the controversy on the undercard and main event. I definitely don't wanna see a 3rd.
