HBO showed one of Ward's punches landing right on the white portion of Kovalev's trunks and called it a legal blow. Belt line is ok, below is not.

when you get hit under the belt (directly in the balls) then yes thats low. but on the belt line is fair game. kovalov was hit with 1 true low blow the entire fight and weeks stopped the action for that foul. after that he was hurt with shots on the belt line and above. people who act like they can't see this are kovalov fans crying their a**hole out about him being stopped. eat the crow and get over it already.

And the reason he stopped was 1/2 due to conditioning and half due to a big right hand from Ward. Maybe next time Kovalev can pull his trunks up over his head.

it depends on the referee and how high the trunks are on the fighter. But it's definitely not as clear as "as long as you don't hit the big stripe it's not low" as some morons were saying. If most of the glove lands below the belt line and some of it lands on the belt line it may still very well (in most cases) be a low blow
