So I was thinking with mcgregor mayweather a couple weeks before ggg Canelo it seems it will steal all mainstream thunder. I am of the minority in boxing circles and want to see a boxer put the mma in their place. But I also get that it's taking away attention from the "real" fight.
I also find it funny oscar pretends to "care" about this fight and the sport when we all know he really just cares about his money.
What do you guys think does it steal thunder from ggg Canelo or won't it matter?
Biased post as usual.
I and others posted several in the Ward threads.
And your fellow floyd fans are always in defense mode justifying the Gregor fight, yet you only mention "Floyd detractors."
NIce try, fair and balanced guy..
You're being dishonest. You can't see the first page of the forums and tell me Floyd detractors aren't the majority that are talking about this fight.
You're lying and being dishonest with what's going on in the forum, and it's weird because there's proof of what i'm saying and you're version of what's happening in the forum is clearly false.
Media can feed news to fans, but fans ultimately decide what to talk about.
Right now the Floyd detractors choose to talk about Floyd-McGregor rather than GGG-Canelo or Ward-Kovalev 2.
It's up to the fans. The good fights can be made, but the fans decide what to talk about. I keep pleading fans to stop giving attention to Floyd-Conor, but it's unstoppable, it's all they talk about thinking they're "hating".

Bro, quit this nonsense about kids being off to school, etc.
It's a Mexican holiday. End of story.
And what have I been missing? Did Oscar given up their original date?
Not sure what you are asking here?
I have explained to you why August is an unusual date and thus the reason why promoters never use that date.
What are you asking me? Why Canelo-GGG are fighting in Sep?
And no Oscar wanted Sep and he got it.

Because kids are off school and people usually are in holiday/vacation in august
They're expensive months for people where most yearly plans are made. From a maximising your profit standpoint it doesn't make sense to put a PPV on then hence why promoters never put PPV's on in august.
But they have this time solely to beat Canelo-GGG

Tell me exactly the significance of the date.
Why casuals would prefer it over another date.
Educate me.

dude....have you checked twitter and facebook and sports news....Conor Mayweather has blown up while GGG/Canelo has barely registered among casuals....i'm not saying the Mayweather fight is better
Hope you won't disappear when GGG/Canelo is just a week away.
You'd be shocked how big the GGG/Canelo would be.
if floyd conor was an exciting fight then it might help but we know that wont be the case and people arent giong to want to spend more money on boxing for awhile until they recover from their dissapointment
Yep, sadly it will.
That's why they chose the unusual date because they want to get in there first.

Biggest nonesense I've read.
If anything the GGG/Alvares will become even bigger.
Oscar is just laughing at these ridiculous prognostications.
As soon as the circus is over, it will become a mere blip,
then fans will start looking for real fights.
In fact, the circus will even be used to promote the superfight of the year.
I can just imagine the humor behind it and how fans got ripped off.

I have to agree with this. For casuals this is more of a draw, but the way I see it is it's karma for Oscar and GGG, I'm not going assign blame for any of them, but they let the fight drag on and on....now look.

I would pick Canelo/GGG over a circus fight.
It's a no brainer. Why is every floyd fan on vindictive tone?
They seem happy the biggest boxing match is overtaken by a circus fight.
True boxing fans, indeed.
It depends on the result. If Floyd clowns Conor like I expect then it will help boxing, which will push more casuals to buy the Canelo fight. Also its two weeks later isn't it?
Good. They shouldnt have waited 1.5 years to make a fight that wasnt that big to begin with.
This. GBP is to blame. "Canelo wasn't ready for Golovkin last year".
Right up to the end of round 1 and the last bell when Boxing fans realized they were duped by a circus act non-fight. Then they will start salivating an actual fight, with heart-pounding anticipation and intensity. Right now the FloydMac fight is all smokescreens and mirrors as they say in magic....till the final bell when reality sets in and people are saying WTF was that crap.'
You know, you are probably spot on with this post.
UFC has been trying to bring boxers inside the Octagon since it began in 1993. Art Jimmerman was in UFC 1. How could anyone forget the Couture/Toney nightmare?
The simple fact is only washed up, desperate boxers with nothing to lose will ever go near an Octagon..That is very true.
