Why do some posters who were infuriated by maidanas infighting against floyd seem to think it's ok when ward does the same thing, these hypocrites can't have it both ways, lil Robbie Barrett is one that sticks out for this exact behaviour
Because he don't do it like da bruvvas do mayne.
Ward ain't on dat duurty game bruh,
he's slick wit it, uses da feints, and all the odda secrets of da sweet science.
y'all just can't stand to see a slick bruvva doing his thang.
Actually Ward doesn't fight the same way as Maidana at all. Maidana is a rough fighter but not a dirty fighter. He doesn't grab his opponent with one hand and pound away with the other hand the way Ward does. What Ward does so much is illegal holding and hitting but he gets away with it. Maidana is fierce attacker who swarms his opponent with a close range hard hitting attack but he stays within the rules.
You missed my point, people who said maidanas infighting was wrong have no problem with wards launching head first hitting and holding, you can't have it both ways
... of course I didn't miss your point... but don't waste time with those... they don't discuss "styles", they're into another thing, tbh... but nevermind...
... WTF, man??? :)
... how can you compare Maidana's clubbing right hand punches to Ward's "stepping-in while leading with head low" style??? :)

It's not all bad news for the fans, or for the fighters getting held. There is a way to force the referee to penalize excessive holding: keep punching.
"I hate to take a point away from a guy for holding when the other guy is doing nothing to stop him from holding," said Steele. "I remember when I refereed the Leonard-Hagler fight and I kept telling Leonard, ‘Stop holding, stop holding.' I'd break them; Leonard would throw a 10-punch flurry and then hold again.
"I didn't penalize him because Hagler wasn't doing anything to stop him! If the guy who's being held tries to punch, tries to break out of the clinch, does whatever he can to show that he wants to punch, then he forces me to take action. He forces me to take points from the other guy. The guy who's being held has to try to punch. Then the referee has to take points away. He doesn't have a choice."
Let that be a lesson: when a fight is a bore because one of the fighters is holding, it's not entirely his fault; his opponent is letting him get away with it on some level, has made with him what trainer and broadcaster Teddy Atlas would call a silent agreement to allow himself to be held. The most exciting and frequently the most effective fighters are those who resist the temptation to take the little breaks that frequent clinches provide. And those are the fighters we most like to watch.------------ this is Richard Steele, a retired world class refs take on holding, clinching, maidana did whatever he could to punch and break the clinch
Ward and mayweather

Who was infuriated by Maidana's infighting? From what I'm aware of, people were infuriated by Maidana's FOULING! There were low blows, rabbit punching, EVEN A KNEE if I recall correctly.
I didn't see Ward doing that. I saw Ward maneuvering to the inside to throw legal punches and being held by Kovalev.
There you go, if floyd is trying to hold , which he was and maidana has an arm free he is allowed to punch, floyd is creating the problem holding in the first place, I don't see that as an issue
Why do the same people who criticized Floyd for headlocking and clinching Pacquiao to avoid trading on the inside think it's okay for Kovalev to do it against Ward in their first fight?
Exactly my point, if you believe it's wrong then it doesn't matter who the fighter is, but some on here flip their beliefs all the time to suit their agenda and their fighter
