I know it's a boxing forum so Mcgregor isn't predominantly loved here but I'm curious to who you guys think has the most star power out of these 3 with all the talk of the September dates etc
Didn't include GGG for obvious reasons
Thought about this and I have a current top 10 for boxing, part of it being a bit of an assuming game that Conor comes to boxing and that Floyd returns.
Canelo Alvarez
Conor McGregor
Anthony Joshua
Floyd Mayweather
Manny Pacquiao
Miguel Cotto
Kell Brook
Gennady Golovkin
Tony Bellew
Andre Ward
Now I will at the very least give my reasoning behind this, but keep it in short format.
Canelo as number 1 the reason why is because consistency is key, Canelo keeps on putting out PPV after PPV and doing good numbers.
Conor McGregor as number 2 (assuming he comes to boxing) because he was breaking records in the UFC and his popularity is clearly at an all-time high arguably WAY higher than Canelo's, but I still wouldn't say fully that he has a bigger drawing power yet.
In no way do I think Conor will be a success in boxing.
Anthony Joshua, the guy is in hit after hit PPV success in Britain and he just broke the record with numbers drawn to a fight and the PPV sales record in Britain.
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, I'll keep both names together because I think It's relevant to say that I think both of these guys stocks have gone down since fighting each other in a very lackluster fight whilst Floyd could still do great numbers with the right opponent he couldn't do good numbers with someone like an Andre Berto, same said with Manny Pacquiao when he will likely do bad numbers for the Jeff Horn fight.
The rest I don't think I need to fully explain, but maybe to talk about why I have Tony Bellew on here, he did a good PPV against David Haye regardless of it being a bit of a joke he still has a bigger following and bigger pull to his name than Ward and he will likely be in another big PPV by the end of the year.
My opinion on Ward could radically change If he does good numbers against Kovalev in the rematch.
Do we really have to go through this again?? He got knocked down that wasn't counted cuz the ref. missed it. If your glove touches the mat after being hit by a punch it is counted as a knock down (the ref. missed it), what part don't you understand? Should I put you in a class room and say it again while reading the rule book??? dumbass
He clearly stepped on his foot, you can't score a knockdown when you stepping on someone's foot they bound to go off balance but yeah ref totally missed that blatant kd :lol1:
Lie about the zab fight? Lmao your dumbass though Floyd got dropped smh you're obviously new to the sport.

Oh really? Then give me the weights & the fights where this happened. Don't make nothing up cuz I will research it (just like you tried to lie about the Zab Judah vs Floyd fight). So you are tyring to tell me canelo is bigger than lil g & lil g cant go up to 180 plus?? Yeah ok. Plus you are the one who is bringing Ward (the P4P King) into this not me.

He just fought at a weight higher than ggg ever did and is bulkier but yeah he's such a smaller man, no problem with LIL g fighting ward doe huh the hypocrite never stops with y'all ward stans

Again, simple question, who is more internationally recognised? It really is a simple question with a simple answer.
Pac can sell out stadiums in asia if he so wished (opr was allowed by one of his jewish handlers). McG is an american media hype job who barely got past a drunk Nick Diaz. McG could neevr be on a UK ppv without either pac or may.
That's all I'm saying. I'm not arguing about him being a star because he certainly is.
Well does that really matter? Who bring in more revenue currently? certainly McGregor without a shadow of doubt.
Pacquiao did 300k PPVs in his last fight and that's the range he's been in other than the mayweather fight. he did something like 5 million at the gate tops. McGregor did 1.3mil buys and 20mil gate.
So not a question. And if Pacquiao can draw so much in asia, why doesn't he?
I think all social media numbers and PPV numbers point to the opposite. but fair enough.
And we talk current pull power, right?

You mean lil g has the most protection power from his team keeping him from rematching Jacobs or fighting any quality opponent.
Yeah canelo is a bum smh
UFC cards are sold on the strength of a lot of known names on the undercards. Having said that, star power isn't simply doing big ppv numbers (which Pac has done repeatedly) but also on how well known someone is. Pac is simply the bigger international star. AJ is a more well known star in the UK and if he was walking down a street in NY Im sure he'd be more reocgnised than a short, pale Irish fella.

McGregor has done 1.3, 1.65, 1.4 and 1.2 mil in his last 4.
Only Mayweather can challenge this AT ALL. factor in that he's fought unknowns and it's clear he's head and shoulders above any active boxer incl. Pac
