Is It Cowardly or Smart That No Other Title Holder Want To Face Lomachenko?

It's the unfortunate state of boxing today where champions are allowed to cherry-pick their opponents indefinitely. I can see alternating between a tough fight and a softer touch so long as you are consistent. But to hold a belt hostage so you can continue to fight B-level opposition is not the stuff champions are made from. Step up or step out of the way. I still take issue with sanctioning bodies and the way they rank fighters. It's disgraceful to see how high certain fighters are ranked or how one becomes a mandatory when there is clearly more deserving opponents.

Imagine if Sor Rungvisai never took the Gonzalez fight because he was being low balled to fight the p4p #1? Sometimes you just have to man up. Fighting a name guy is not just a payday, it is a career opportunity if you are a real fighter. Also, business cuts both ways. If you reject an offer, and the other side walks, they don't need you. It definitely undermines the title of "champion". It makes you want to just bring back one title per weight class but that's impossible due to the money involved in having individual sanctioning bodies.

They've lowballed every fighter they wanted. We know for a fact they lowballed Rigo and Walters. It's always the same story with Loma and his team. He's getting paid Terence Crawford type money while only selling out 2,000 seat venues but they expect everybody else to take short money. If you're fighting in 2,000 seat venues but want to fight me in a 5,000 venue that means you expect to sell more tickets because of me so my pay should be equal to yours if I'm more than doubling your attendance. But everybody ducking Loma doe I literally don't see anyone calling him out? Wouldn't you think fighters would be up in arms if all the rating systems have Loma as the #1 fighter the #1 Pound for Pound fighter, and everyone is staying in their lane and keeping quiet.

So is it cowardly, or smart or both on the fighters parts for dodging Lomachenko? Can any fighter truly call himself the best if they are so willing to dodge the best competition available? are those salido type of offers??

Well it's understandable from a business perspective. As someone said earlier, it's very likely you will lose and probably not get paid that well. At least when Floyd was fighting, you're going to lose but get paid well, and if somehow you did win you would be the biggest thing in boxing and huge in sports in general. There's no real incentives when fighting Loma when you weigh it all up. Yeah a win would be big amongst hardcore boxing fans but the reality is that the likelihood of losing your belt, losing the fight while not making big money outweighs that. It's sh1t but that's how the business works.

As for the question, it's cowardly. Offers were made to the other belt holders and highest rated guys in the division, the only guy that was willing to fight was Sosa.

you heard it straight from gayweather jr''s mouth they will keep davis away from lomachenko pretty much forever. salido's manager didn't think it was a lowball offer in fact it they almost signed but salido backed out at the last minute. these clowns want retirement level money because they know they get schooled and humiliated by lomachenko. I don't think it's either. It's karma. Arum only likes to make in house fights when it benefits him. Now he is willing to make fights with other promoters fighters because he feels loma will beat them. Well why should these guys make fights with arum now when he won't in other circumstances? Put loma in with salido, Manny or Crawford. Or, show a willingness to make say Manny/Thurman and then maybe loma can be in the semi main against a non arum fighter.

As a boxing fan, I refuse to excuse or condone boxers who avoid significant challenges. I won't give them any credit for being 'smart' or anything like that. It's cancer.

I wouldn't read too much into the claim that ALL the other title holders have rejected a fight with Loma.
