Who would people like to see him fight next?
I know he doesn't have the most fans, so this thread isn't about who he deserves to fight. Just strictly based on what would make for a great fight
I was thinking Guerrero, Bradley, Vargas, Frankie Gomez, maybe Herrera? I don't think he will ever get a rematch with Garcia, and I don't think Diaz will let him go near Postol again
Matthysse will lose stepping up...again. I told you all that is what he is.
Let him fight a string of c listers, he might have an entertaining fight with Rios, maybe Provo (whatever happened to him?), or who knows, possibly Guerrero.
Bradley is no longer a big dog at 147. He isn't interested in fighting any of the top 10 welterweights in the world
Then it's a match made in heaven :boxing:
Lucas needs another tuneup before even trying to fight a big dog at 147. Even that will be more for money and glory rather than accomplishments. At 35 and after a few wars, he doesn't have a chance against the younger, more skilled foes at WW.

Who wants to see any of those?!
What about Broner, Peterson II?
He's damaged goods, thats why I picked C and D level fighters
Sounds like he wants a run at 147, while his trainer prefers 140.
If he stays at 147, i think he needs some more adjusting fights to work his way back into things. Someone like Collazo maybe?
Adrian Granados or Brandon Rios would be a great stylistic match up
I don't see Matthysse becoming world Champion at 147 BUT he can be a guy you put on Undercards in exciting matches
His trainer wants him to go back to 140...But Lucas probably believes he can get a couple big pay days at 147 before he retires. GBP probably wants to put him as the Canelo-GGG co-feature but I think they should have his next fight on ESPN...the Canelo fight is going to do huge business regardless. It would be nice to have a name like Matthysse on the new espn series although I guess that could be hard to work out financially.
Adrien Broner, Tim Bradley, Terence Crawford, Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan.
Basically any of the smaller welters.
He'd struggle against bigger welters such Thurman, Porter, and maybe even Berto.
Vargas, Collazo, Khan, Chaves, Bizier, J Lopez, Bundu, Broner, Algieri, Guerrero, Thurman, Peterson 2...
Sadam Ali is GBP, so that might be an easy fight to make.
Tim Bradley

I don't think Matthysse can win a title at 147, the division is too strong right now. If I were his team, I'd set up 1 or 2 more tune-up fights, then aim for a title back up 140, in the mean time, Matthysse should be told he will get a title shot at 140 again, so he can mentally keep himself ready to make the weight again.
I would absolutely love to see him fight Lipinets. That would be a really brutal war.
Jeff Horn, Kevin Biser, Jo Jo Dan, Victor Ortiz, and Herrera
