POWER: Golovkin is definitely the harder puncher. He has thudding power that hurts every time he hits you. I believe Canelo has more "One Punch" KO power and is more explosive, but GGG has the type of power that when he hits you, you freeze and your whole game plan goes out the window. He has a better KO ratio & he has stopped/dropped much bigger guys than Canelo.
SPEED: This is an easy one. Canelo has the faster hands and can throw very explosive/quick combinations.
TECHNIQUE: Canelo has very good boxing skills but I would say GGG is the superior boxing technician. He has the best jab in boxing & also a great amateur background. He has seen all types of styles.
EXPERIENCE: Canelo has the better resume without a doubt but he has only had 1 fight above 160 pounds. He has never dominated top opposition (in their prime) but only won a close decision. So we need to keep this in mind. GGG has been fighting at middleweight his whole career & he has stopped much bigger men who were in their prime. He also has more than 300 amateur fights and is an Olympic medallist. This is a close one to call but I'll lean towards Canelo because of his resume.
CHIN: GGG hands down. He has never been dropped or visibly hurt or in trouble. His chin has been tested & it has held up. Canelo has never been visibly hurt but then again we have never really see him hit with a good punch by a power puncher.
FIGHT PREDICTION: I think this will be a great fight in which GGG wins by late TKO stoppage. Canelo has faced skilled boxers but never anyone who was skilled, bigger and has more or just as much power than him. I see GGG controlling him with the jab & landing brutal power punches to force a stoppage via accumulation of damage. I do think Canelo will land on GGG and possibly hurt him but the fire power will be coming back from Golovkin and that is when he is more dangerous.
I'd like to get your thoughts and opinions and perhaps a comparison in other areas like movement, inside/outside game, defense, etc.
You dont know **** about boxing if you think GGG is just coming forward. He has great footwork and headmovement , he has a pressure style and mostly just slips shots while coming forward or occasionally backs up to avoid shots. Dude also cuts the ring off like no one else in the sport. All of that takes skill.
No YOU don't know s**t bout boxing. I've been in that ring homie....and all you need to beat this slow flat-footed bum fighting pro is a jab.
I'm leaning towards Canelo at this point. Not something I would have expected.
Number 1 reason I like his chances is having watched Golovkin freeze up when his opponent stepped into the pocket and flurried in several fights now. Golovkin was too slow, mentally and physically, to counter Jacobs when Jacobs stepped in and let his hands go. At range Golovkin is still great, in the pocket he's really vulnerable.
Canelo is vastly superior counterpuncher and combination puncher to anyone Golovkin has faced. He's fast, he's sharp, and he's fluid. I can see him putting 4 and 5 punch combinations on Golovkin with nothing coming back. Do that a few times in the early rounds and all he momentum will be with him.
Golovkin's jab is his most important asset by far. That's what makes me think he could still win. Canelo has a short, sharp jab, but it's not that impressive from range. If Golovkin can get his jab going then it gets a lot more difficult for Canelo to get his timing and distance right.
If Golovkin can really dominate with the jab then Canelo's feet and gas tank become major issues. And while I still see him countering Golovkin well off the ropes, he's going to take more hard shots than he's ever taken.
But in general I think Canelo looks like the prime fighter now. And while I question his legs, I also question Golovkin's ability to show urgency and apply pressure as he needs to if he is going to win. Danny Jacobs is no Lara and yet Golovkin found it difficult to corner him and score. Canelo's no mover but he is probably mobile enough to be elusive for the Golovkin we've seen lately.
Good analysis, and a very respectable prediction. One thing I disagree with is your tie in of Lara-Canelo and Golovkin-Jacobs. I think those 2 fights have absolutely no impact on Canelo-Golovkin. Lara is feather fisted mover who was fighting an unpolished, defense first counter puncher in Canelo. He almost potshotted his way to victory because Canelo had a difficult time dictating the offense. Jacobs was the bigger, stronger puncher with a reach advantage whose best moments came when he saw an opening and unloaded a combo on Golovkin.
These 4 guys have very little in common when it came to their fights, and nothing they showed should have inluence on the Canelo-Golovkin fight. My $0.02

This fight will come down to two things.
Can Canelo hit Lil g hard enough to get his respect?
Can Canelo either take Lil g's shots or avoid them?
If the answer is yes to both, then Canelo outpoints him easily or stops him late.
If the answer is no to either of those, Lil g stops him.
Kinda boring, but pretty much true. Except I don't believe that it will be easy for anyone in there. And ofcourse there's a lot more to this fight. Who will have the higher connect rate, who will dictate the pace and who has the bigger will, when pressured.
Has canelo ever been rocked? I'm just asking because I can't remember too many times when he's been caught clean. Cotto landed a couple but i mean proper full bloodied shots.
Pretty sure Cotto's brother rocked him a couple of times.
Who is faster? Jacobs or Canelo?
I think faster flurries is from Canelo. But Jacobs' can deliver that one or two quick punches/counters.
But what matters is the effect of those punches on GGG.
We saw GGG as cautious of Jacobs' power. Relying on hard jabs and not getting too careless.
Will it be the same attitude against Canelo? If Canelo's punches fail to get GGG's respect, it'll be a seek and destroy strategy. Canelo has fast hands but footwork is not perfect.

He was staggered badly by Cotto's brother.
Canelo has the better defense for sure.
However, Golovkin has a higher work rate, pressures very well, and has far better stamina. These are going to be big problems for Canelo to overcome especially once he takes his usual breaks from fatigue. Add that to him being a stationary fighter in general. I think he gets stopped mid rounds via TKO and will be too brave to go down.
Canelo better not try that strategy on the ropes where he lets opponents hit him and tries to counter. Make no mistake, GGG will throw punches and land with accuracy when Canelo is on the ropes and he won't back up if countered. Canelo won't be able to escape and GGG will cut him off.
This is the real deal for Canelo, I don't see how he can possibly win unless he is able to take GGG's punches. If he wins I will give him full credit and he will definitely be a top pound 4 pound fighter.
Man, reading a lot of your guys predictions and analysis makes me wish this fight was weeks away instead of months.
Good stuff guys and great points. We as boxing fans are in for a treat!
Canelo's advantage is his hand speed. But we all know that is not complemented by a a good footwork.
So GGG's hard jab will be the key here. GGG being taller will be a good complement to that.
Remember, Jacobs is a bigger, probably longer boxer than Canelo (also with good hand speed) and GGG had good success against him.
Canelo is a good infighter, but I don't think he can survive stayingin there with GGG. Canelo's path to victory is using his speed, boxing, combo and getting out. He also will need GGG's respect, and I think he will have to earn that early.
I think GGG will win, though.

Speed is even. GGG has the faster feet by far. Canelo has faster hands. Feet > hands in boxing.
it's not just about quicker hands landing more punches.
Jacobs has quicker hands than even Canelo...... and more importantly, Jacobs has longer reach and was a taller target.
GGG still outlanded Jacobs with technique and precision.
With Canelo, he can't even reach beyond GGG's jab who will be jabbing downward. Jacobs could've thrown at the same time as GGG's jab and reach GGG. but with Canelo he legit wont' get around his jab.
He almost got dropped by cotto's brother but I'm sure someone will make an excuse for it. Or will say he wasn't that hurt.

Canelo was on queer street in that fight against Jose Cotto. To his credit he survived and got the knock out win later in the fight. What was Canelo at that time? I think he was 19 years old if my memory serves me well. Jose Cotto couldn't follow up on hurting Canelo, opportunity missed. Good on Canelo to recuperate and show poise in that situation, being that he was 19 years old.
