The whole stadium applauded him & rightly so.
The best Wlad we'be seen in years, he was quick & accurate (except for them left hooks that were missing)
Went out like an absolute warrior & the first man to KD Joshua.
Need to watch the fight back though to analyse it
That uppercut though :|
Props to klitschko. I thought he was going to hold the whole fight like he has done his whole career but not this time....he fought like a real champ last night. Props to Joshua for the 2nd wind cuz he was gassed out after he knocked klitschko down.
Never really been a Wlad fan but thought he was great last night. Even though he was losing the early rounds he was the one that was controlling pace and centre ring.
He was parrying and blocking a lot of big shots pretty comfortably too, great defence. Think it just came down to being the slower, older guy.
I feel like he could beat any of the top guys at HW honestly but he's got nothing left to prove. I think he should retire now too.
He might be able to, I hear you, but he's been knocked out four times now, had nearly SEVENTY pro heavyweight fights, and is 41 years old. He's pulled out of fights multiple times, body been run through the ringer since he was what a teenager? I know he's still a great athlete and he'll always be dangerous but with all that and he's probably got enough money to live well for ten lifetimes and a young family.
He had his moment with Joshua, had him ready to go, and he couldn't get it done in the perfect time when he was in as good a shape as he can be in. Why risk being KO'd again? Why be just another guy that let the sport retire him before he retires from the sport? We've got too many of those guys like RJJ and not enough guys like Lennox, imo.
Huge respect! I don't want to get caught up in this thing that has become prevalent in this day and age of showering the loser in praise but Wlad isn't a loser. Huge respect to him and nobody should ever question him again, best of his era and if yesterday was his last fight (bar a win of course) it was the best way to go out. Kudos to him
Props to both but I really think Wlad should retire now and be happy he finally had a big event like that where all eyes were on him and fans went home happy, even if he couldn't get the win.
