Are we all trying to fool ourselves here? We're all acting as if we didn't see Joshua on queer street in the 6th round after Klitschko landed a guided missle directly on Joshua's face.
Joshua was hurt and stumbling all over the ring in a drunken stupor. This was the opportunity for Klitschko to end the show and he did absolutely nothing to finish him off. On top of that, Klitschko lets Joshua recover in the following rounds which eventually leads to stoppage in the 11th.
Joshua's stock would've taken a massive blow if he lost to the aging boxer and the only reason I think he won was because there was a deal happening behind the "boxing scene"...
@18:22
good shot from both of them, not great. too much respect was given after the kd's. ill tell you one thing, those left hooks that missed wlad.....omg. aj put everything into them. could have been mercer morrison all over again.
true ,all true man ,Wlad was swinging wild
In contrast Joshua landed some hellacious body shots when he was going for the KO.
One of the slo mo angles of the stoppage showed the right to the body AJ threw rippling right through Klits body.
I was impressed with AJ's attack to the body. The heavyweight division is missing that as you just have a bunch of head hunters
Exactly, I agree with this. Wlad has never really worked the body though and unfortunately he has never really had to as his 1-2 and left hook have always worked. I was screaming at the screen for Wlad to go downstairs but in my head knew he wasn't capable cause he hasn't worked on it

f*ck the body. if wlad landed one clean shot to the head between rounds 6-8, it'd be over.
True that, the only thing that kept the kid on feet was the ropes, leaning on them. Watching it I just screamed "go in land land land" and he just didn't. Joshua was already out and would eat every single right.
Klitc hit him the same way through the whole fight: he sent a lead hook, and when AJ bent down to avoid it Klitc sent the diving right. He was completely in control.
IDK mate, round 11.
it wasnt a devastating kd. a lil more than a flash doe. people are making too much out of it.
IDK man ,he looked pretty bad and wobble, but credit to him for comeback ,he let Klit out after 1st kd too.
Wlads mistake was head hunting, instead of working that body
Jousha was in dead water for about 3 rounds, hardly throwing punches, this is when Wlad should have worked his body
Wlad should have broke his body down

Myth.
He was launching big left hook after big left hook in search of the KO. Joshua avoided them and kept his cool while on unsteady legs.
Wlad hasn't been a combination puncher for over a decade. Even with a hurt opponent, he looks for big single shots to close the show. Joshua on the other hand throws hurtful combinations when he smells blood.
Yep spot on. What people are saying is that they want Wlad to abandon the caution that made him the fighter he was in his prime.
He knows he doesnt have the gas tank to go balls out for the KO. It was proved to him many times when he was AJ's age. Staying composed and trying to pick his shots was his best option
Wlad did let AJ off the hook. The rounds following the KD he barely threw any punches and it let AJ back in the fight. I know Wlad is not a combination puncher but AJ likes to leave his left hand down too low. Wlad could of landed that straight right on a tired AJ but didn't really try. It let AJ get his 2nd wind which started in round 10 when AJ started throwing more combination punches.
Wlad said post fight that he could have tried harder to finish Jousha, and also that he felt it was his night, so he took his time, basically saying he went into cruise control for the next few rounds, which inturn allowed Jousha to catch his breath
He also said he still feels Jousha is vulnerable and needs to fix that
Wlad should have gone in for the kill

it's just too easy to dodge Klit's punches because he has no body variations.
it's all 1-2 head shots. legit. so all anthony had to do was wear ear muffs or bend low. klit is very very basic in terms of punch selection.
Heres the thing as well.
Do people remember what happens when Wlad goes gung ho trying to finish a fight?
Wlad does. He gasses. He gets stopped. He learned from brutal experience that you need to conserve your energy. Thats why he didnt go all out.
AJ almost learned that same lesson in the 5th/6th.
Wlad was trying to pick his moments and end it, but AJ was smart to it even as ****ed as he was.
True fact: a fact is only true if it's irrefutable. Reality is you wish Wlad finished Joshua when he had him hurt. You wished one of the punches he was missing would have landed. If he could have finished the fight he would have done it.

I agree, AJ was totally finished at that point. If Wlad had shown a bit more aggression it would've been over, can't believe he didn't start swinging. I said it before, you can't have an opponent THAT HURT and not go for the kill. I wouldn't even say AJ did well surviving, he did nothing amazing.... Wlad just didn't go aggressive enough which he had to do.

Joshua was completely ****ed, but he saw the finishing shots and avoided them when it mattered. Saw the left hook coming. Recovered brilliantly in the next few rounds by keeping his distance.
Despite being a massive puncher, i dont think Wlad has ever been a great finisher.
But lets give credit where it is due. Joshua did what he needed to do
