What moments in particular were electrifying, or gave you chills down your spine?
Personally, I marked out like crazy when Floyd and Pac went face-to-face for the first time, dressed in their respective suits, their giant heads bobbing around under the lights.
My following/love of boxing is in it's infancy, so that is it for me.
What about y'all?
EDIT: What I listed was something I watched in Real Time, as opposed to via highlights or Youtube.
Tyson's post fight interview where he declared he wanted to eat Lewis' children always makes me lose my sh*t. Same with the "I'll fvck you til you love me, F*ggot!" rant. Heel persona done right.
B-Hop doing push ups between rounds when fighting Pascal made me go absolutely crazy.
Floyd's Check hook that made Hatton dive face first into the corner's turn buckle too.
Froch-Groves 2 KO. Carl is legit one of my Top 5 fav boxers, so that had me screaming and cussing as well.
And while these didn't necessarily "electrify" me, seeing videos of Teddy Atlas and Paulie giving Floyd props after he retired also stick out as massive moments for me. Not necessarily because it was Floyd or something, but the fact that there was no bullsh*t, no pretense, just people who dedicated their lives to boxing, paying respect to somebody else who did the same. Nobody understands the kind of sacrifice it takes to be a professional boxer than fellow professionals. Made me smile.
I can't forget the last minute of the 12th round between fraud jr vs the great baldomir!
it was an epic show of what is popularly called now as the great ass whooping showcase by a slick fighter! :scared:
^^^^^^^^^^^
really nobody finds the last minute of the 12th round of fraud jr vs the great baldomir exciting???
it's a showcase of an epic ass whoopin' by a slick fighter!
come on guys...
Recently probably thurman vs porter. That was just a very exciting fight to watch. Also brook vs GGG was entertaining while it lasted and brook did better than alot of people thought he would. I cant really remember anything else right away but there was alot of exciting moments i had as a boxing fan.
Pernell Whitaker's win over Diosbelys Hurtado is up there for me.
Hurtado was a Cuban defector who was challenging for Whitaker's belt. This was late in Sweat Pea's career. It was stunning (and for me, frustrating) to see Hurtado out quick Whitaker over the first 10 rounds. Whitaker was behind on all 3 cards and he was not at all known for his knockout power. In the 11th he went for it and hurt Hurtado. Hurtado got hung up on the ropes and Whitaker pounded him again and again with left hooks until it was over. Amazing comeback from a guy who didn't score many knockouts.

This win also saved Whitaker's big pay day against ODLH.
You know, I always thought I was the only person who liked the fight.
It went the way I expected it to, so I was in no way disappointed by the end of the bout. I was just so fvcking engrossed in it all, I was loving every second. When Manny had May stunned against the ropes, and unleashed a furious barrage on him, I was close to having heart palpitations.
Each time Floyd gave Manny his troll face, shook his head, or landed a counter, I would fvcking ROAR.
It may not have been the best fight I've ever seen, but I absolutely loved it. The build up, Floyd not clowning, looking serious the whole time. Manny's people and fans going overboard with the whole Good v Evil narrative, etc. The legit respect Floyd and Manny showed each other at the end of the fight, chopping it up whilst in each other's arms, etc.
...then that fvcking post fight, "fighting with one arm" bullsh*t soured it a bit.
how was it bullsh-it? didnt he have surgery or was that some fake news conspiracy maybe he played it up but what was floyds excuse for pac landin the much better punches in at least 7 rounds? thats usually floyds calling card. clean accurate punches...not this time but according to floyd fans he "fought his fight" i guess he fought it wrong or pac fougth it better. perfect example of how a man is bigger than the sport. you can just change your entire way of looking at a boxing match when things dont go as expected.
I know everybody felt let down but when floyd beat Pacquiao
I waited years for that
I switched sides so many times
For 6/7 years everymorning I woke up went toilet, put on the kettle, rolled a joint and typed in Pacquiao-Mayweather into my browser
Everymorning
Invested so much into both fighters
And then it was all over
I finally had my answer and was happy

Bless him
Lmao!
I actually have that picture on my phone. It made me lol so much when I first saw it, I saved it.
Sometimes the most electrifying matches are the fatal ones, if you want to see an electrifying fight, go back and watch Benn vs Mcclellan the crowd was tense, loud and passionate. Everything you'd want from a boxing match, the life changing injuries weren't good though (even though Mcclellan was a piece of sh1t)
An insane moment in boxing was when Watson was putting a beating on Eubank sr & dropped him late in the fight only for Eubank to get up, walk straight over and drop him in one shot ending the fight. A tragic ending to Watson's career who is a good man.
Thanks for the memes :D
I never was the biggest Manny's fan - he never was among my top3 favourite fighters, but I do like him and find him very exciting. I also like Floyd ;)
However, there was something unsettling seeing him KOed like that. It was clear that Manny will never fight the way he use to fight and that meant that incredibly exciting style is gone (of course Manny getting old is the main factor).
I'm a big fan too
My fave fight of all time
Everybody loves the ko but my fave part was the end of round 5
Both started swinging for the fences
Manny just could not get Marquez out fast enough
Marquez just smiled
Must have watched it 50times

Manny-Marquez the last round of the last fight.
I was so sure that Manny is going to stop him at any moment. I was really excited to see 'the old Manny' back. In those 2 mins, he looked great and fight looked great.
We all know what happened next.

Cool story. For me, it doesn't matter if it's no-namers or world champs; boxing is at it's best when it plays out like a story, complete with turns, surprises, etc.
I can't lie, the entire card was full of quality. And by quality, I mean entertainment.
Flamboyant, sharp dressing yet hideous dude scoring a KO in the 1st round, having come off a loss in his previous fight. A young and supposedly great prospect getting completely wrecked by an older, but more disciplined fighter. A 4 Round fight in which the dude who was chosen to be the can for a guy's debut, overcame a KD and bashed the living sh*t out of the dude in the remaining rounds to earn a draw. It was in a small boxing hall, so the atmosphere was insane.
That's what boxing is about; pulling you in and making you go nuts. I think I'm going to open a boxing hall of some kind in the future. We don't have one in my city. If I could contribute to the love for the game growing in my area, I'll be happy as a clam.

Here in SA, there was recently a Provincial Welterweight title bout between undefeated champ, Jeffrey Magagane (5-0, 4 KOs) and Ayanda Nkosi (6-1, 1KO, who was a tall, rangy, lanky fighter. Just think of a really dark spider). Anyway, Magagane was the local, and the assembled crowd was singing his name, dancing, women cheering and screaming as he walked out. (Dunno why. I mean, he's light skinned, and had a dope fade, but that was it.) He entered the ring and the crowd went absolutely crazy. The challenger, Ayanda came out to a decidedly tepid ovation. He's tall, thin, giant forehead due to his whack hairline, and had really white teeth, which were made evident by his dark ass complexion.
Anyway, so during the first round, Magagane, the shorter fighter, completely dominated, landed shots on Ayanda's face and rocking him each time. Ayanda was the more cultured, skillful fighter, while the champ had knockout power in both hands. Ayanda wasn't fighting on the outside and using his reach, but fighting toe-to-toe with much more powerful champ. He hurt Ayanda badly towards the end of the first, but he survived. Second round went the same way, and towards the end of it, the champ caught Ayanda with a shot that floored him, and the crowd lost it. Everybody thought it was the end. They thought another KO was incoming. Ayanda beat the count, and didn't try to clinch or evade; he continued the fvcking fire fight until the end of the round, and that marked the turning point, and the champ had clearly gassed.
Rounds 3 through to 6 saw Nkosi now boxing, using his skills and technique to make the champ miss, and exert more energy. He beat the living sh*t out of the champ, which resulted in Magagane turning his back toward the end of Round 6; CLEARLY quitting. The ref didn't quite catch it though, and the bell sounded. The champ's trainer went ballistic, ripping into him and trying to light a fire in his belly. The champ went out to try win the 7th, but got his ass beat so badly, his corner threw in the towel.
Nkosi became the champ, and I'm almost certain that Jeff is gonna retire, and fade away into obscurity.
I know it's not on the level of the examples you cited, but that fight had everything fans of the sport love. A popular, local champ with a home town crowd, a game challenger, skill vs power, comeback KO, etc.
Sh*t had me off my feet, and clapping like crazy by the end.
Cool story. For me, it doesn't matter if it's no-namers or world champs; boxing is at it's best when it plays out like a story, complete with turns, surprises, etc.
