I've seen this throw around (probably by diehard Pac fans) but it's nonsense.
Fight I & II you can argue Marquez gave him the chance because Marquez was the defending champ.
Fight III wasn't a charity act by Pacquaio and team. It was set up to finally get a controversy free win over Marquez. Remember this was at the height of Pacquaio steroid claims and Marquez was a 38 year old lightweight moving up two divisions. Could say Marquez gave Pacquaio the opportunity to finally get a real win (and get paid)
Fight IV - same. Nobody outside of Pacquaio fanatics think he win and he had nowhere else to go. He needed a fair win (after 3 attempts and what most claim was 3 closses or 2 losses and a draw)
Bottom line it was two fighters fighting for something that the other one had. Marquez ended it with a swift ice cold KO. Pacquaio wasn't saying "Here you go Marquez please beat me" the way people claim.
Not sure why Pac fanatics are so desperate for their man to finally score a fair win over a 44 year old inactive, injured fighter. It would mean absolutely nothing except a payday for both guys.
Point being, Pac always had those issues...always took those punches from JMM. Sure he got dazed on occasion, but very different from dazed, clap gloves and com back to falling on the ground for the first time in 40+ rounds fighting the same guy.
the realpugilist is realstupid, just stop

the punch you dont see is the shot that knocks you out...manny didnt see that shot coming and it was a perfectly timed counter
you dont think after 3 fights JMM didnt pick on that same stutter step, stutter step flick jab rocket left hand combO?
give the man his credit and move on
JMM was one of the best counterpunchers ever
the knockdowns had nothing to do with manny having his left in the wrong spot to guard(kd # 1) and also had nothing to do with him jumping into the punch as jmm slipped his jab(#2) thats the same counter he'd landed all series.....difference was manny didnt see it coming. :boxing:
pac didnt get dropped in fights 1-3 but there were definitely times he was hurt....dude was never super man, he was a human being smdh

Amazing how he got older, and stronger. Landed those punches hundreds of times on Pac and never phased him.

That's the biggest problem. If jmm had been that type of puncher as a younger man, fine but not only does he hit harder, he has the best physique of his career at his worst weight.. All the while working with a known cheat.
The fact that pac even humbly accepted that loss sys a lot about the man.
manny only gave JMM the 3rd fight because of how Jmm looked against floyd...it was a cherry gone terribly wrong.....everyone said "jmm cant carry his skills up that high its evident now"...till he beat pac again....then he gave him the 4th fight because he exhausted most of his good options by then
same thing i said in my post on the first page
cherry pick gone wrong
fight 2 was 4 years later
fight 3 was after jmm had tough fights and a one sided loss to mayweather
fight 4 was to clear things after manny thought jmm won fight 3 and thought he'd finally gotten old enough to beat clearly
cherry picks gone wrong
By the same token, if Cortez had correctly called the punch whilst Marquez was down Pacquaio loses a point on all three cards so loses even if we score round 1 10-6. I think Pacquaio got the benefit of the two wrong calls in that fight.
I'm not going off ifs buts and maybes. I'm going off of what actually happened. You know a little thing called reality.

No one gave anyone a chance, both benefited from the fights. Money fights that were meant to clear controversy.
But, Marquez did duck the first rematch.
wow someone still defending floyds 40 million duck. that takes guts. your argument is so easily refuted. pac fought marquez for less therefore it was a duck! and floyd fought maidana for less duck! floyd fought guerrero for less duck! etc... floyd fought maidana/guerrero for 30 mill instead of 300 million if he just gave pac a fair share. pac made around 30 million for the marquez fight so a 10 million difference where floyd missed out on 270 million for refusing to give pac a fair share but you are on his side of course. you never mention how he fought fights for 270 million less only how pac for for 10 million less cause he was being ripped off with that offer. no bias of course. :poke::poke::poke:
He turned the offer down. Stop spinning it.
Desperate? oh c'mon. It was just a miracle punch so it's nothing. You can post that miracle punch slomo GIF 1,000,000 times if you like :lol1:
Infact Pac got hit with the same punch throughout the quadriology. So Marq was just breaking him down with the same punch fight after fight and finally he sealed the deal with the last touch.
Pac won the first fight and was robbed because of Bert Clements incompetence. He was winning the fourth fight when Roidez landed his lucky counter. Roidez also insisted he won the Bradley fight and got robbed every time he lost. He is a whiner and a cheater and has Pac to thank for his wealth and place in the BHOF.
I think the idea of Pac giving Marquez "chances" is from the second fight onwards because Pac by then was clearly the bigger star, a MUCH bigger star. Pac didn't have to fight him again after that second fight but it really happened because Mayweather once more ducked the bout (fought Ortiz instead and said Pac was next...only to claim he never said that lol).
Heck, if anyone should be aggrieved about that first fight, it has to be the Pacman, considering one of the judges didnt know how to score a KD and missed the point, ending up with a draw. Yet it was JMM who was *****ing like a queer.
2-0 should have been the score. After that, I believe JMM won the 3rd fight and did so very well and then ofc the 4th where JMM looked like the Mexican Hulk...Burritulk!

Thanks to "MEMO" he was able to put Manny to sleep so congratulations to Juan. By the way, how's his knee injury again?
And Pacquaio always fought clean?
Good one.
