a 41 year old former champ with ring rust and one leg in retirement. how much credit should AJ get for beating him?
and i know on the flipside if wlad wins he gets all the credit in the world beating a young prime knockout artist. AJ in a lose lose scenario.
but lets say AJ wins how would you view that victory? would u place him top ten pound for pound? does it prove finally that his hype is real?
Kilt was never that great because never beat anybody of any real note. Partly through no fault of his as the competition in his era wasn't great either.
He was one of the hardest hitting heavyweights of all time but he still lost to below average fighters.
He cannot be called an ATG simply because he never beat anyone anywhere near that standard. His best win is Haye.
A win for Joshua is a good win but that's it.
I think wlad is shot to be honest. It can go 2 ways, either wlad sticks the jab in AJ's face early and goes on to dictate the range and do what he does. Or wlad gets clipped early and goes night night. I just got a feeling wlad is going to get ktfo brutally early. He looked terrible in his last fight and is now 41 coming off a long ass layoff and his chin is still glass.
It's lose-lose for AJ, like you say, but don't think for one moment that the Sky-Hype brigade won't milk a win over Klitschko for all it's worth. If AJ wins, we will never hear the end of it, more's the shame
Wladimir is 41, been inactive for what will be 18 months and looked awful not just vs Tyson Fury but also in his fight prior vs Bryant Jennings.
It will of been at least 3 years since Wladimir last looked good and was he that good or was Pulev just that bad? I think a combination of both personally but definitely more towards the latter.
Really you can go all the way back to the Povetkin fight - Hideous fight but Wladimir looked well on the slide back then and unable to pull a trigger against a sitting duck.
I'm not sure, I'm not even sure who I favour. So many unknowns I have absolutely no idea what to expect from this one but I certainly wouldn't say it was a great win at this stage regardless how Wladimir looks.
Maybe about as good as Joe Smiths over B-Hop? IRDK
If Wlad actually fights him, a lot of credit. If he pulls what he did in the Fury fight, it'll be hard to really give much credit for beating a mentally broken former champ coming off a loss.
It would be a good win for Joshua, the best of his career so far because of Klitschko's stature and experience. But at 41 it would be a little tainted for Joshua. It will do good for his confidence and experience going forward. But until he beats Deontay Wilder or Luis Ortiz that is when the Hype becomes validated.
It depends on how Wlad looks. He couldn't pull the trigger against Tyson so we will have to see how he does against AJ. If he goes straight to the ropes like Molina then a win won't mean much. If he goes in there and competes then a win will mean a lot more. This is boxing where fighters get old overnight.
