Jacobs was legit confused when he was fighting him. That shifting was driving him insane. The shift just before the knockout was beautiful.
Golovkin relies way too much on his natural attributes, which are his great chin and power. He also has very subtle feints, and solid fundamentals, but he just isn't as skilled as Pirog was. Hence why Pirog was able to knock Jacobs cold with much less power.
Pirog did better against Jacobs.
GGG did better against Ishida.
Hard to say who is a better fighter in his prime.
Pirog was very smart fighter with unconventional style, but GGG is more powerful, more healthy and more athletic. If they ever fought it could be Pirog by close decision or GGG by KO.
tbh only watched Pirog fight Jacobs and no one else.
I think it would go like the proksa fight. Lots of hitting but GGG got a really solid chin. I mean people don't realize that taking a left hook from both Curtis Stevens and Lemiuex is incredible especially cause he didn't even wobble

jacobs has learned a lot since htat fight, but i do think that pirog had skills and that golovkin is too dependent on his chin.
golovkin also has a good jab, but you know it's coming. pirog was tricky.
i also honestly think golovkin has peaked and is on the slide. he's been taking hard shots in almost every fight for years now. 350 amateur fights. 36 years old. 4 fights a year as a pro in '13 alone.
I enjoyed Pirog's style as much as anyone else. The combination of power and aggression and lomachenko-ish angles was exciting.
With that said we didn't see much of him. Golovkin knocked down and with better presence of mind probably could have knocked out Jacobs + narrowly outboxed him.
Pirog went back and forth in exchanges with a younger jacobs before bombing him.
Not a huge difference there considering jacob's improvement. They both won, both put him down.
Pirog was near to K.O Jacobs in the second round of the fight.
No he was not. He came close to dropping him and had good follow up but near to KO is a bit of a stretch.
Jacobs was only 23 and hadn't fought anyone worth a damn. While I was on the Jacobs is chinny train, and GGG was gonna KO him in 5-8 rounds train, I was wrong and Jacobs has improved. But in hindsight, I couldn't know that because he had only beaten Quillin, who he himself hadn't done anything spectacular.
Gennady beat a better version of Jacobs for sure.
I'm big on Pirog but OP doesn't know wtf he is typing up to begin with.
Jacobs was winning the Pirog fight before getting caught.

I can't say pirog is better but I do prefer his style over GGG. He was more fluid and seemed to have more wrinkles in his game. Sucks that fight never came off.
Oh, Jacobs not only improved since then, he's matured physically and mentally.

Come on man, Pirog was in his prime and Danny was a 23 year old baby when they fought. He wasn't nearly the same fighter he is at 30 today.
Estrada was 21 years old when he faced Gonzalez and was drained 4 pounds...and nobody says nothing about that.
Stop whit the pretexts, that fight what the most important fight for Jacobs and that moment but was K.Oed beautifully
That is your opinion which you have right to. My opinion is that your opinion is completely wrong. Pirog fought the baby Jacobs and he was losing to Jacobs before he KOed him. GGG won a close fight over the mature. stronger, smarter, bigger, faster and better Jacobs. Pirog was a good fighter but injury cut his career short before he accomplished much. GGG has already accomplished things in boxing the retired Pirog can only dream about. GGG will go down in history as a great middleweight. Pirog didn't do enough to be remembered.
So you don't think jacobs has improved or changed at all since the pirog fight?
Jacobs is more mature, physically stronger, and a better fighter now, than he was when he fought Pirog.
A healthy Pirog though was likely the uncrowned middleweight Champ. Golovkin had trouble hitting Jacobs whenever Jacobs slipped. Pirog would make Golovkin miss all day, and make him pay. It would have a been a good chess match, but I think Pirog would have won a decision. Jacobs was the last opponent that Pirog fought with a semi healthy back. It was injured every fight after, if I recall correctly.
The grandma angle i dont really agree. There are a couple of examples where people performed better after a devastating loss, but everyone reacts differently.
But jacobs now is definitely much better than the version against pirog. Boxers can improve. You also wont held w. Klitschkos early losses against him, because he also improved very much.

Jacobs was devastated from the loss of his grandmother days before the fight too.
