Any news on Rigo?

Latest news on rigo is that hes still the best natural boxer in history and even with such a small amount of fights...recognised universal p4p no.1

Haymon, in all likelihood, wouldn't have guaranteed Rigondeaux any money, so I doubt that Rigondeaux would've been all that much on board with the move as an option (people, for whatever reason, seem to alway ignore that point). Moises Flores is with Haymon, but don't ignore context here; his last PBC appearance was in 2015, as the 1st/2nd fight on a PBC on FS1 card (Toe-to-Toe Tuesday), with his last fight being 8 months after that and off of TV. Haymon is unlikely to lean on Showtime/CBS for the fight, and I doubt that he'd even commit one of his bigger PBC stages for the fight. The purse bid is coming, but I don't see Haymon thinking Rigondeaux-Flores is bigger than headlining it's own show for PBC on FS1, or simply being the chief support to the next Erislandy Lara fight (vs Andrade being something that Showtime would be interest in carry, with vs Castano/Soro likely targeted for PBC on SpikeTV ) Haymon doesnt guarantee ANYONE any money, so why would a guy who cant sell out the first 3 rows of an Elks Lodge be any different?

Rigondeaux should have signed with Haymon, instead of Roc Nation. Roc Nation has him fighting once a year. He doesn't need to wait until Cotto fights again. Hopefully Haymon puts it on Showtime or a PBC show. Flores is a Haymon fighter. Rigondeaux is going to be the chief support on Miguel Cotto's next fight card, putting his purse in his pocket and giving him a chance to feature on a pretty meaningful TV spot. here's the thing though, bob has been matching him up with b level fighters, so shouldnt that make it easier for him to put on a good show then? The ability is of no consequence; for Rigondeaux to be watchable for a non-hardcore fan, he's got to be matched against fighters willing to bring the fight to him. Rigondeaux is pretty awe-inspiring when he gets the chance to play the matador; slipping just off of a shot, countering with sharp skills, etc. Put a matador in their with something other than a bull, and the matador doesn't look all that impressive

Again, haters don't make sense. Rigondeaux, like Ward, and Cotto, has a contract with Roc Nation. They pay him a certain amount. Instead of trying to spread rumors, why not educate yourself about what you try to discuss, instead of looking stupid? Contract or no contract, no one with TV behind them is going to put Rigondeaux at the forefront because the money isn't coming in to Rigo. Have him travel around the world, work with making the fights economically viable for whomever is willing to put up the money, and then come back to TV with a story that can be sold. lol

They normally end up in some managerial/promotional rift and it's most likely cause they aren't familiar with the system and since they come from poverty and most likely are just quick to sign the dotted line without any knowledge. Rigo vs Cordoba. he had a face first brawler he could hit at will, a guy so damn slow he makes Angulo look like Ray Leonard. and what did Rigo do? run his a.ss off for no damn reason. Arum didn't match Rigondeaux in a manner that would build him up to the boxing audience. Anybody with half a brain knows that matching him with face first Latin fighters like Montiel, Arce, types etc. can easily build a guy up, when he KO's them spectacularly. Ask Nonito Donaire. Arum preferred to save those types for the already established Donaire, to try and build him up instead though. If you look at how Arum matched Rigondeaux, you see that Arum made no attempt to match him with Arce, Montiel, or any other type of face first Latin guy his size he could look spectacular against. Instead you see weird match ups like 5'3 Rigs vs 5'8 awkward Cordoba, or 5'8 Marroquin as a short notice fight when Rigs hasn't even been in camp. Rico Ramos, an at the time undefeated, and slick guy. Joseph Agbeko, an iron chinned Awkward Ghanian, with good defense. You don't match someone like that, if you are trying to build them up. You match them with whatever ranked face first latin guy you can find, Mexican preferably. Except Arum offered them Chris Avalos, but they turned it down in favor of Agbeko

Guillermo Rigondeaux, in order to make a watchable fight, needs an opponent open and willing to bring the fight to him (where his ability to slip the shot, land on the counter, and his other tools can get highlighted). If the opponent isn't going to bring the fight, Rigondeaux has no problem with slicking the fight from range and cruising to a decision. As a top promoter, it was on Bob Arum to see what he had, and figure out a package to sell. The Rigondeaux-Amagasa fight was a quasi-acknowledgement of what was in hand; not really a top-level guy, but he came to fight, wasn't afraid to come forward, made a fight of it, but was simply undone by Rigo's ability level. Arum should've put Rigo on the road, sending him to wherever there was a fighter willing to fight him, bring HBO along where possible, work with other promoters to stage the fights, hope that Rigo's ability keeps him racking up wins, and have Top Rank make their own money on the back-end (Rigondeaux is currently 10 defenses into his run with the WBA belt, a figure that likely could've been up to 13/14 defenses, were Top Rank had not shelved him). Rigo's style is going to be his style, but if Top Rank had sent him around, Bob Arum would be able to come back to HBO with the "We've got the best fighter on the planet, and he's closing in on having the most successful title defenses ever" arc. Rigondeaux doesn't seem willing to fight for anything less than big money, money that he doesn't draw (in ticket sales, TV numbers or sponsors); not that hard. Rigondeaux vs Flores, were it up to Haymon, would be the type of fight that he'd put on to headline a PBC on FS1 card (and possibly a PBC on SpikeTV card), and stage the Hialeah Park Racing & Casino in Florida. Only issue with that is that the entire bill would likely be financed with at most $500k; does Rigondeaux take the fight for $150k-$200k? I doubt it. Again, haters don't make sense.
