When you start having celebrities at your fights like Seinfeld, Louis CK and Dave Chapelle then you have broad appeal and bring more interest in boxing to the public.
It doesn't matter what you think of a fighter, if they can draw celebrities to a fight then it means they are THE top attraction and draw in boxing and the way GGG has done this is by using AGGRESSION, POWER & GOING TO WAR. I remember Tiger Woods leaving in the middle of a Mayweather fight. The public don't care about the technical aspects of boxing, they want entertainment and if you're dull you're dull regardless of how awesome your puglistic skills are. If you're not going to try to stop your opponent in most of your fights and content to just win a decision then **** get the **** off our TV sets and stick your holier-than-thou smug boxing knowledge up your ass.
Mosley-Margo had celebs too ,Celebs do what they want ,they can show up on ESPN friday fights ,Seaga lwas one time ,and they can leave during Mayweather fight, its not some important thing ,PPV and gates are important ,GGG is draw but not a big one, there is couple of draws close to GGG level then its Canelo on the top ,no big names is hard for boxing ,but sooner or later we will have more big names ,(talking about USA draws ,i know AJ,Fury,Wlad can make huge event in UK or germany)
Incidentally, Ellie Goulding was at the York Hall show headlined by Reece Bellotti last Friday. Hearn undoubtedly gave her the ticket for free, but just the fact that she showed up probably makes her the most hardcore celebrity boxing fan around
I think it's fair to say that GGG has some mainstream appeal. Calling him the top attraction because Louis CK popped into the garden seems excessive though. I'm sure there were celebrities at other fights this year involving top fighter(s).
99% of the time they their cause of a deal they have with HBO.
I actually had not considered this.
Lots of fighters have had celebrities in attendance. OP sounds insecure about GGGs 'drawing power'.
GGG is a draw. But he is not a draw in the sense of May/Pac/Canelo.
GGG got GOT cast to attend a few months back. Nuff said
Who from the cast was actually in the building, though? I barely follow the show, but I doubt "Jon Snowe" or the "Red Queen" showed up.
To drive the point even futher, of the GOT folks that "atteneded", how many of them are even still on the show? (with the way bodies get dropped, who knows).
you played yourself
:lol1: do you know most of the time celebs got free ticket right??
mayweather and arum at one time quoted they always give free tickets to celebs and famous athletes. the amount can reach to more than $500k worth of ticket price. they use these celebs to attract the millionaires and high rollers
paris hilton ticket for one of pac-marquez were free.
That's part of the problem with the "Tripple G is the next big thing" narrative. If you keep having to point to reasons why he's the next big thing then maybe he's not. If he is, no one would have to question it.
Couldn't have said it better.

Good post.
Golovkin is 35. Sorry GGG fans, he isn't and will never be the next big thing.
Nothing wrong with that. People still watch him fight and that's what matters. :boxing:

Are you serious? As far as big fights are concerned GGG didn't have much celebrity star power. Once again you guys trying way too hard to make GGG into some big draw. "Like oh 3 celebs showed up oh my god GGG is the biggest thing ever" LMAO

Golovkin's fight, even his fight against Daniel Jacobs, didn't have the type of "celebrity draw" that Thurman-Garcia did.
Heck, Jacobs-Quillin seemed to have similar "celebrity draw" to Golovkin-Jacobs, so what's your point?
