Would really liked to have seen that fight. Pirog is/was more defensive, very awkward, fast hands and feet...longer reach than Jacobs, just a good overall fighter. Had there been no injury, how would the fight have played out?
No bias, just based on styles.
Yeah we can't make a prediction until after Saturday
If gg wins more dominating than Pirog then it's gg
But if gg doesn't win as convincing then I think pirog sparks gg out in around 9 rounds
Even after taking into consideration their other common opponent?
GGG wins by early KO as usual. Pirog is very good but so were some of the others GGG KOed. Pirog was losing to the young Jacobs when he knocked him out. I doubt GGG will be losing at any point in his fight with a better Jacobs.
Would have been one of the great fights
Pirog was durable, at least before injuries set in. Unlike Jacobs though, Golovkin has an absolute cast iron chin.
Pirog could well have outboxed GGG over 12, but I'm not sure how he would have coped with bombs thrown for an entire fight.
This is easy. Golovkin wears him down and stops him in eight. The one successful round Jacobs had (round 2) was when when he stayed close to Pirog and attacked the body. Jacobs never adjusted to Pirog's movement or found the right distance. Golovkin would stalk him and break him down.

Two greatly overrated Eastern Euro bums but if I had to pick one I'd say Pirog since he was never down as an amateur or pro as to where Golovkin did get dropped.
Pirog retired undefeated correct? Wasn't he and GGG going to fight but then he retired due to injury? Leading to GGG vs Proska?
That's how I remember it.
I honestly believe Pirog could of been something truely special.
I think he would outbox golovkin for 6/7/8 rounds, and win practically every round, the problem is golovkin is far far stronger, and more thick than Pirog.
He'd get stopped in the 9th or 10th round IMO.
Go contribute to my Pirog vs. Martinez thread in the Boxing History section. Thank you people!
I would favour a prime Pirog over a green Golovkin, given Golovkin's output the key factor.
