Copying and pasting from the Pick Em thread:
I don't buy the whole bullsh*t that GGG was letting Brook hit him on purpose. I do believe GGG has slowed down though but just how much is the question. I am so tempted to pick Jacobs but my god, it is so hard to trust this guy.
I just think it's gonna be a closer fight than people think. Whether it ends in a KO or not.
Basically I'm stuck between giving GGG the benefit of the doubt that he hasn't slowed down enough for Jacobs to beat him or not.
Golovkin round 6 Stoppage. this will be Ishe Smith 2.0 up to that round (go watch that fight, jacobs good hands speed, fast jabs, going to the body here and there, slipping shots, but eventually getting caught) . Then GGG will catch him with a left hook and finish him in the ropes.
EDIT: Oh I forgot, this will be another fighter exposing him. as he got hit, and that in this forum is not allowed.
The safe bet is Golovkin stoppage in the mid to late rounds. However, I like Jacobs confidence. I don't think he has any doubts he can win this fight. If he can back it up with a solid game plan he can pull off the upset. The only chance I see him upsetting Golovkin is to catch him early. It's hard to imagine Jacobs doing all the the things he needs to do for 12 rounds without breaking down.
GGG starts off the fight like the Lemieux fight using the stiff jab. Danny holds his own early until a couple great body shots land for GGG. He pounces and stops Jacobs in the 6th round.
But imagine if we see GGG actually get hurt and go down! Could be a great night of fights Saturday. I'm already excited.
It's Saturday night. Golovkin likes to give the fans a show on Saturday night. Golovkin will deliver the knockout or stoppage between 6th to 8th round.
The only chance for Jacobs to win is, in my opinion, a perfectly placed body shot. He's not winning on points or knocking GGG out in a firefight, I just don't think he's tough and powerful enough to do that. Sorry.
Golovkin by stoppage beetwen rounds 3-5.
ko victory to GGG inside 4 rounds, I was watching highlights of the pirog fight recently and Jacobs was really struggling with the pressure from Pirog and fighting on the back-foot. I think stylistically it will be a similar fight to that one.
Im not sure how long it takes, but i think eventually Jacobs is going to be drawn into a firefight and i dont see him having the defence or the durability to survive with a fighter like GGG. GGG doesnt have the defence either but his chin looks extremely solid.
Jacobs needs to be perfect Saturday. Either a perfect 12 rounds, or a perfect punch. If he achieves it then I will give maximum credit.
I said Jacobs by KO in the official thread without studying film ; thats how low my opinion of Golovkin is - you guys that think Jacobs cant do what Curtis Stevens, Macklin, Rosado and Ouma did in going past five rounds are believing the hype.
mind says GGG. heart goes for Jacobs.
GGG is more than capable of out boxing Jacobs. if he pumps the jab like vs Lemule I dont think there's much Danny can do.
but if GGG comes out guns blazing like vs Brook he gives Danny the best chance to clip him.
cautious GGG .. or angry GGG. that's gonna determine the fight.
But don't forget Jacobs is 3 inches taller and has a 3 inch reach advantage over Lemieux, so I think if Golovkin tries to Jab at him Jacobs could out jab him, but if they start trading Golovkin would win due to Jacobs being chinny
