Interesting that it will feature the international announcers and not HBO....
Dan Rafael@danrafaelespn
#GGGJacobs WILL be available as streaming PPV ($64.99) on Ring mag website. All 4 PPV bouts with the international announcers, not HBO's.

Hey Boxing guy! Any word on how online sales went for the GGG card? It was shaky at first but streamed fine for the co-main events. Im stoked this was offered and I hope it continues in the future for those of us who dont buy cable tv.

No specific numbers but it probably did maybe 5,000 or a little more. That total would not count in the PPV total by the way.

But the ring is biased though. Owned by De La Hoya. Why they helping Lil G sell PPV's? :dunce:
It doesn't take a genius to figure it out - you do know the answer, right?
Ring is owned by Oscar so its basically Golden Boy promotions PPV streaming
Oscar created the platform to get into the digital/streaming space to promote his fighters. But we are seeing more and more he is using the platform to air events that he has not promoted for non golden boy fighters. What will be interesting is they use this in between fights or rounds to promote ring magazine and up coming golden boy events. Wonder if they will air canelo/chavez ppv promos on K2's dime during GGG own PPV. LOL

Because, using the international feed, Golden Boy magazine stands to take HBO's 7.5% fee on every buy they get to move off of HBO and to their website.
Oscar takes a fight that he has no fighters on the bill for, and has found a way to make his company a bit of coin on the cheap. For the fan who wanted to support Golovkin or Jacobs, and didn't have access to the direct HBO PPV, Golden Boy gives that fan an option to watch the fight on their computer, tablet, or phone.
Not HBO being pissed... cable/satellite operators like Comcast/DirecTV that run tons of ads for the event to help sell it.
Very true all those entities are not getting a cut of the buys.
Now Golden Boy can say they only got 100 buys and GGG doesn't deserve $15 million
GGG can't lie about the streaming buys golden boy now has access to those real numbers could definitely use it against them in negotiations. LMAO
Same as canelo ppv streams my guess because if they make it cheaper then HBO broadcast then people could go buy the cheaper stream and HBO would be pi ssed.

Why is it the same cost as the cable company?

It's a simple deal... Ring keeps 50% of whatever is sold on Ring digital properties. The rest goes to the promoters.
Yup HBO doesn't have a live streaming platform which is plain stupid. So if you K2 you losing out on potential cord cutters that don't have cable to order the ppv. UFC has their own streaming service for ppvs. Ring TV has already proven they can do this and have used it for canelo.
The irony is GGG fan girls hate Oscar yet will literally be paying Oscar a cut when they order the fight. LMAO
Ring tv has been building their platform for 2 years now. They have streamed the last 2 canelo ppvs using their own announcers instead of HBO announcers (HBO doesn't get a cut of those ppvs sold). And have done countless other undercards, english broadcasts for Estrella Spanish fights, and have put on monthly regular Ring TV specific shows. They have the production crew and infrastructure it's only a matter of time till they create their own subscription based service.
Been saying ring tv at some point will branch and get into more broadcasts for other promoters they mostly handle golden boy promotions but have done some events outside golden boy. This would be their biggest non golden boy event. But I can see more promoters using them since everything is already in place and at some point them replacing HBO and other traditional networks because streaming is the future and they will cut out the middle man.

I guess GBP is hoping Golovkin get's good numbers to promote Canelo-Golovkin
