Gomez: Loeffler and gg putting Canelo fight in jeopardy!??

IF GOLOVKIN FIGHTS JUNE 10, CANELO-GGG IN THE FALL WOULD BE IN JEOPARDY PHOTO BY: TOM HOGAN/ HOGANPHOTOS/K2 PROMOTIONS 08 MAR BY MITCH ABRAMSON A rumored middleweight unification match between Gennady Golovkin and Billy Joe Saunders for June 10 would jeopardize plans for Golovkin to face Canelo Alvarez in the fall or at least push it back to a later date, Golden Boy President Eric Gomez told ******.com on Wednesday. “If he makes a fight with Saunders, that will screw up our plans for Canelo,” Gomez told RING before a luncheon in Manhattan for David Lemieux’s middleweight crossroads bout with Curtis Stevens on Saturday at Turning Stone Casino on HBO. “That would impact us. So I’m not aware of anything with Saunders. We’re talking and he’s talking about making the fight (between Golovkin and Canelo) in September. If he tries to do a fight with Saunders, that will screw up the plans.” Multiple sources have indicated to ******.com that Golovkin promoter Tom Loeffler and Saunders, who holds a WBO middleweight title, have had extensive talks about a fight in Golovkin’s native Kazakhstan on June 10. While Loeffler denied a deal is in place on a conference call on Tuesday for June 10, he did admit in a discussion about a fight ostensibly on that date that he’s been in contact with different promoters for potential fights. Gomez suggested that wasn’t a good idea if a fight between Golovkin and Canelo takes place in the fall. “We need enough time to promote a big fight,” Gomez said. “You have to do the (media) rounds. You have to do all these TV shows. There’s so many plans we have and we’ve talked about promoting a big fight. You need time.” Gomez said that Loeffler has mentioned to him “there is an offer” to Golovkin for June 10. “But he said they’re committed to making the fight with Canelo,” Gomez said of Loeffler and Golovkin. “Our first goal is to make the fight,” Gomez said he was told by Loeffler. “And I said, ‘Ok great.’ But if he does something in June, then it could jeopardize of push it back at least.” Of course, Golovkin has to get by Danny Jacobs on March 18 at Madison Square Garden on HBO PPV in a bout for Golovkin’s WBC/IBF/WBA titles. And Canelo has to outstrip Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on May 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on HBO PPV.

When Loeffler talks about a possible fight with Canelo: "Li'l g said he wants all the MW belts. Canelo doesn't have a MW belt .. why is Li'l g trying to fight a SWW insted of moving up to 168? He said he wants all the MW belts .. so why's he trying to fight Canelo ... Canelo doesn't have a MW belt ... blah blah" If Golovkin signs for a historic 4 belt MW unification fight with BJS in June: "Quack! Quack! ... Li'l g is ducking Canelo! .. Why is he fighting BJS in June instead of waiting to see if Canelo will fight him Sept? .. It would be the biggest fight of his career .. why does Li'l g want to fight BJS instead of Canelo? Quack! Quack! Quack!" pretty much spot on. But I think Im going to have to give up on trying to reason with these idiots. They are like a broken record and its like trying to explain something to a 4 year old.

Get it through your head GGG will never have any leverage against Canelo there is no belt that he can win that will supersede the fact that Canelo is the cash cow and A side. Sergio was the true Middelweight champ more weight then GGG will ever have and still he had to play the B side role to Cotto giving into every demand to make the fight happen. Floyd owned every belt and accolade in boxing and still got raped in negoatations to Oscar who wasn't even a top 10 P4P ranked fighter anymore. Was old at the end of his career but still the biggest draw in boxing so Floyd had to give in to every demand Oscar made. Get it through your heads there is nothing GGG is going to do to change his B side role. And him signing another fight in June is not making anything bigger it's a risk to Canelo's Sept date. It will result in Canelo saying you see he doesn't want the fight and moving on giving the career payday to someone else probably Cotto. And GGG will have to wait at minimum 2018 and has no one to blame but himself. Just because someone's a B-side doesn't mean they don't have leverage. You think Oscar had to pay Floyd more than he paid Stevie Forbes? Gatti was the B-side to Floyd, but guess what - he had leverage. Don't be simple, not all B-sides are the same. Don't let your spite for GGG make you so obtuse. If GGG beats BJS in June to become the only 4 belt unified champ in boxing that would make a fight between him and Canelo even bigger. You definitely wouldn't need more than 3 months to promote such an important and historic fight. Especially as it's been talked about and publicised ad nauseum ever since Canelo beat Cotto in 2015. It would be the biggest and most important fight in Canelo's career, as well as Golovkin's. Fools with one-track minds who can't see any further than "A side" vs "B side" won't understand that. But you bet, Canelo and his team understand it. So Gomez talking about GGG putting his Canelo date in jeopardy by fighting BJS first just makes me even more certain that GPB are looking for an excuse to put off fighting Golovkin this year.

Golovkin was ducking Kell Brook, Ducking Sergio Mora, Ducking Jacobs, Ducking Canelo. yeah im surprised these people have no credibility. ggg needs to cancel his fight with jacobs right now because he might get injured and not have enough time to promote it. oh canelo is still fighting in may though thats ok. logically consistent arguments are cryptonite for them.

Canelo has a fight just 30 days earlier, that's hardly that much of a difference, especially if they decide to use the Golovkin/Saunders fight as a promotional tool - just like Hopkins & Dela Hoya used their June fights to promote their September fight. Nobody said GGG is the A-side, he's not asking for 50% of the split. GGG fighting in front of 40,000 fans for the last belt against the #3 MW will only build up his reputation even more. Gomez doesn't want GGG fighting BJS because it eliminates a leverage option for Canelo. It's one less opponent for Canelo to run to over Golovkin, plus he can take shelter under that WBO belt. that's the risk you take when you the B side. And Khan NEVER had a offer on the table that all he had to do was sign. 15 mil offer and GGG lost his pen and now wants to dink around with a saudners fight in June rather then just iron out the details and go directly into the biggest fight of his career. Yeah great idea... It worked well for Amir Khan when he pulled out of the Devon Alexander fight for the IBF title because he thought he had the Mayweather fight. That's a great example. That idiot won't be persuaded though, he's just content on hating, hate releases dopamine, it's sad when you're at the level of existence that your only solace is being hateful.

Exactly. What GGG is doing in unheard of. No big time promoter would EVER be this stupid. But hey this again just shows it's amateur hour over there at K2. This is like Maidana finally landing that big time offer to fight Floyd and then saying hey Floyd I know I got this career fight offer from you but I'm demanding I fight one more time putting our fight at risk and giving us less time to promote it. You cool with that? Floyd would tell him I'm moving on to the next fighter you fool. Yeah great idea... Of course he's choosing another fight, if the options are Saunders or Canelo. :dunce: Exactly. If GGG has 2 offers on the table and if he chooses to fight Saunders instead that's a duck. If GGG is worried about the Sept fight falling through oh well don't be so difficult play your B side role and you will land the fight. And at worst case if you wait 1 month after your fight Canelo/Chavez is over and you start negotiating. If anything falls apart in the Canelo fight Saunders is always there. At worst you fight Saunders in July/Aug instead. There is NO reason to force a small time fight with June before you even TALK to the Canelo camp in May and risk the biggest of your career. This is once again GGG making demands that NO B Side ever makes and killing fights.

It's not the same and only idiots keep bringing this fight up. the difference was Oscar was the A side and DEMANDED a tune up before he fought Hopkins. Hopkins as the B side had no choice in the matter. Oscar was coming off the second longest layoff of his career and longest layout was was NOT due to an injury. He was also fighting at a new weight. He as the A side called the shots and he wanted a tune up to knock off rust and get used to a new weight class. The tune up was mandatory in his offer to Hopkins. If there was an injury or anything he was willing to take the risk that the date would be moved but he needed a tune up. Here we have the B side GGG trying to make demands that will risk his date. GGG is a career middleweight he doesn't need a tune up to get used to the weight and has a fight of a lifetime on the table and wants to dink around with a saunders fight that means nothing and will always be on the table. Canelo fight is only on the table for Sept. Canelo ain't going to let these amateurs at K2 dink around with his money. Also Hopkins was already involved with big successful PPVs, GGG has never been and they need all the time possible to promote this fight. Learn to use paragraphs and maybe I'll read your posts...
