No. He still has a lot of limitations as a boxer. And even if he had a better chin, I don't know if he could have taken those counters for Danny Garcia for a full 12 rounds.
Honestly, his chinniness is not as much of a problem as his lack of intelligence in the pocket. He just doesn't anticipate shots well enough, doesn't have a good sense of distance, and doesn't have an in-built habit of slipping a shot after he counters.
Look at how Thurman kept slipping under Garcia's counters. Khan doesn't have the discipline to do that. And unless you have a James Toney like sixth sense where you always know what's coming, you're going to get caught flush when you don't do that.
No, even if he had a rock solid chin he would get KOed by good punchers. He gets to lazy, gets hit wit to much for having the speed he has. It's attributed to his horrible footwork. He relies to much on his had speed and not enough on the foot movement.
I can not believe that he is getting a chance to fight Pacquiao in the UAE. Khan has gotten so much undeserved big fights. I really don't understand it.
Not with his fighting style. You cannot throw 6/7 punches, without someone timing you with a sweet counter.
That's what it boils down to, it's not some much that his chin is necessarily terrible but anyone who commits to extended flurries without mind to defence is leaving themselves wide open. Thing is that's what he had success with and he doesn't really have a plan B, just keeps doing the same thing over and over - anyone who can bang a bit and has decent timing will KHTFO.
Depends what you mean by solid. Prob wouldn't have lost to Prescott. But Garcia and Canelo would still have ko him
Also Peterson won a decision so. No
that was nice robbery ,steve Wonder at his best :rofl::rofl:
I only think his bad chin only really came into play when he was getting dropped by Limond and Gomez. They were warning signs. Not big punchers putting him down with seemingly not big punches.
But he has been sparked properly by big punchers landing huge punches. Take someone like Garcia who has a very good chin - would he have taken the Prescott bombs, his own big left hook, or Canelo's misile? I doubt it.
Khan will likely get highlight reeled KO'd by Pacquiao too. The very best fighters and even some not so good fighters just find a way to time Khan and hit him with their best shots.
His chin only got worse because of his flaws. IMO, leaving your chin exposed, squaring up, having no inside game, fighting at one speed, relying on said speed to much and having no real good punch variation is why he gets tagged as much as he does. He also just fights weird, if that makes sense. No real ability to adapt among all the reasons i stated, and even a few i didn't is why i say no. If he had a margarito chin he'd still have the same problems
Contrary to popular belief Khan's chin isn't the reason he is losing. He makes a multitude of technical mistakes that lead to him getting hit cleanly. Mother****er drops his right hand WHENEVER he throws a jab.
This and it's a lazy jab that he brings back to his hips after throwing it.
How would his record look if he had a solid chin?
About the same, tbh.
The chin/punch resistance is definitely Amir Khan's fatal flaw, but that still doesn't change the reality that Khan's concentration seems to go to **** after 3-4 rounds.
Even with a chin, Khan would still rush in in obvious patterns on the front end, linger too long after his combo, and not have all that much variety in his style.

Precisely.. it isnt his chin that is getting him beat. I actually think his chin is decent.
It is the fundamental flaws that are leaving him vulnerable to flush shots. Khan gets hit with the cleanest punches that he dont see coming which are the worst. Shots that can knock out anybody. That isnt no indicator of him having a glass chin.
He is just a sloppy fighter imo.
People should stop believing that khan is like a master boxer or something. He aint that technical, he has low IQ. He has physical talents, speed, good range and has height. But other than that hes not maximizing most of them. Hes not throwing amazing feints, his footwork sucks, doesnt have a good jab when he easily shouldve. No overhand rights, when speedsters could do that. Doesnt fight tall. Doesnt use his range well. He has a lot of flaws.
Maybe he'd be able to get away with his mistakes if he has a solid chin. But doesnt mean he aint losin.
Hes already delusional without his chin, If he has maybe hed be fighting golovkin too lol
